Donna Hall
Donna M. Hall, 68, of Port Orchard died Jan. 11, 2001, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
She was born Nov. 16, 1932, in Seattle to Allen E. and Marie E. (Purcell) Holt.
She graduated from Olympia High School in 1951.
She married
Henry E. Hall. He preceded her in death in 1975.
She had worked as an office manager with the federal government in South Carolina for 10 years, retiring in 1979. She also worked as a volunteer at Peninsula Thrift Shop in Purdy for eight years.
She loved cats and attended Gig Harbor Christian Church.
Her survivors include her mother of Port Orchard; a son, Bruce Hall of Cinebar, three brothers, Richard Holt of Seabeck, Carl Holt of Seattle and Stephen Holt of Virginia; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Tom Garcia
Tom Garcia, 60, of Bremerton died Jan. 11, 2001, at his home from pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born Feb. 19, 1940, in Berthoud, Colo., to Edward and Elenor (Sandoval) Garcia.
He married
Cathy Pickett on March 16, 1962, in Denver.
Mr. Garcia enjoyed spending time with family and friends and telling stories.
Survivors include his wife; his father of California; a daughter, Maggie (Garcia) Lamaster of Silverdale; four brothers, George, Ben, Phillip and LeRoy, all of Colorado; a sister, Ilene (Garcia) Benkowski of Colorado; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Garcia.
A memorial service is planned for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4215 Pine Road in Bremerton.

Tonie Allen
Former Manchester resident Tonie B. Allen, 86, died Jan. 2, 2001, in Bellingham.
She was born Dec. 5, 1914, in Roslyn to Anthony and Victoria (Starcevich) Soyat.
She graduated in 1933 from Bremerton High School.
She was a secretary at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years, retiring in 1974.
She was a member of the Bremerton Ski Cruisers and a volunteer for the Sidney Museum and Art Gallery.
Survivors include a son, Michael of Juneau, Alaska; a daughter, Candy Ford Allen of Bellingham; a brother, Mart Soyat of Port Orchard; a sister, Mary Soyat of Tacoma; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dave and John Soyat.
A memorial service will be planned for the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle.

Dilly Davis
Lillian Gladys "Dilly" Davis, 82, of Bremerton died Jan. 8, 2001, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
She was born March 14, 1918, in Poulsbo to Sam and Gina (Knutson) Olsen. She graduated in 1936 from North Kitsap High School.
She married
Isaac Davis on Feb. 4, 1939, in Poulsbo. He preceded her in death in 1971.
She enjoyed crocheting.
She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Valerie Winn and Linda Forbes of Bremerton and Wanda Monti of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Arthur Olsen of Hillsburg, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Rochelle Kauanaulu.
Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn.

Helen Hemmi
Helen Catherine Hemmi, 92, of Port Orchard died Jan. 8, 2001 at Harrison Hospital.
She was born June 28, 1908, in Sumner to Charles Fleming and Viola (Drury) Brownlee.
She married
Earl Hemmi on Aug. 18, 1935, in Olympia. He preceded her in death in 1976.
She was a legal secretary for the state of Washington and later for private attorneys for more than 20 years, retiring in 1966.
She was a member of the Capital Organ Club and enjoyed music and her family.
Survivors include a son, Ronald of Tacoma; a daughter, Joyce Kaaland of Port Orchard; five grandchildren; one foster grandchild; six great-grandchildren; and five foster great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at the United Churches, 11th and Capital Way, in Olympia. Arrangements are under the direction of Mills & Mills Funeral Directors of Olympia.

Gertie Hansen
Gertrude "Gertie" Myrtle Leona Hansen, 95, of Bremerton died Jan. 10, 2001, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born Dec. 6, 1905, in Seattle to Oscar and Birdie Larson.
She married
Alvin Hansen on July 3, 1924, in Anacortes. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She enjoyed playing bingo and watching the Mariners.
Survivors include two sons, Ivan and Gordon, both of Tracyton; a daughter, Dolores Hansen of Bainbridge Island; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by six sisters, one brother and one great-grandchild.
Services will be private.
Ruth Matthew
Ruth L. Matthew, 94, of Poulsbo died Jan. 11, 2001, at home.
She was born Sept. 10, 1906, in Oskaloosa, Ill., to William and Melvina Bryan. She was a 1924 graduate of Lead High School in Lead, S.D.
She married
James A. Matthew on Feb. 10, 1927, in Lead. He preceded her in death in 1968.
She was a homemaker. She retired from Lenkurt Electric in 1967 after 21 years of service.
She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family.
She was a member of Kingston Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, James of Palo Alto, Calif.; two daughters, Monna Ray Morse of Trout Creek, Mont., and Doris Lee Gerry of Poulsbo; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Two memorial services are scheduled, one at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kingston Christian Church and another at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hostmark Apartments in Poulsbo. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Mildred Stoffel
Mildred A. Stoffel, 81, of Bremerton died Jan. 7, 2001, at Fairfax Hospital in Virginia.
She was born April 11, 1919, in Aberdeen to Larry and Grace (Kangas) Nyman. She attended high school in Aberdeen and graduated in 1937.
She married
Gerald Stoffel in Bremerton in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1995.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and camping.
Survivors include a son, Larry of Alexandria, Va.; a daughter, Christina Boechler, also of Alexandria; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Gary; and a brother, Milton Nyman.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment
will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Charles Beal
Charles Russell Beal, 73, of Port Orchard died Jan. 7, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born June 2, 1927, in Port Orchard to Lincoln and Georgiana (Smith) Beal.
He served in the Army from 1945 to 1948, achieving the rank of private 1st class.
Mr. Beal was a cab driver for 13 years and an antique dealer.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was interested in guns and knives.
He was Protestant.
Survivors include his mother, of the family home; and a brother, Lincoln Beal of Colville.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 20 at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

James Still
James P. Still, 67, of Poulsbo died Jan. 7, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born March 3, 1933, in Chester, Pa., to Samuel and Elizabeth (Shields) Still. He graduated from Ridley Township High School in Ridley Park, Pa.
He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955.
He married
Dolores on June 10, 1969, in Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. Still worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 29 years, retiring as a boilermaker in 1993.
He enjoyed gold prospecting and was an outdoorsman.
Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Beerson of Springfield, Pa.; two daughters, Diedre and Sarah, both of Poulsbo; a brother, Donald of Quincy, Calif.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth and Maryellen; and a brother, Crawford Laird.
At his request, no service will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
