Alice Anderson
Alice Wilhelmina Anderson, 94, of Silverdale died Dec. 29, 2000, at Crista Shores Nursing Center.
She was born June 9, 1906, in Tacoma, to William and Wilhelmina Dahlberg. She obtained her teaching degree at the College of Puget Sound in Tacoma.
She married
Gustaf Anderson in 1934 in Tacoma. He preceded her in death in 1994.
She taught school in the Tacoma School District.
Survivors include a son, Reed of Kingston; a daughter, Willamae Stuhmiller of Reardan; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
At the family's request,
no services are planned. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Crematory.

Alice Higinson
Alice (Orrfelt) Higinson, 85, of Bremerton died Dec. 26, 2000, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 5, 1915, in Bremerton to Lars and Kathline (McGrath) Orrfelt.
She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1933.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Ronald of Bremerton; a daughter, Beverly Brockway of El Cajon, Calif., a brother, Robert Orrfelt of California; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, in 1976.
At her request, no services will be held. Inurnment will take place at Ivy Green cemetery in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Becky Eldridge
Becky Ann Eldridge, 62, of Kingston died Feb. 10, 2002, in Kingston.
She was born May 26, 1939, in Port Angeles to Emeral and Helen (Osier) Boden.
She married
Jimmie C. Eldridge on June 2, 1983, in Kingston.
Mrs. Eldridge was a eral estate appraiser. She enjoyed fishing and art.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Gary Bauer; a daughter, Amy Mekalsen; two stepsons, Hans and Jimmie W. Eldridge, and their wives, Lisa and Dawn; a grandson, Jaden; three stepgrandsons, Hans, Nicholas and Matthew; and a niece, Cherie and her husband, Mike "Bear" Rogers, and their daughters, Maria and Amanda Rogers. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kay Franklin.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at The Stone Chapel, followed by a committal service at Kingston cemetery.

Jean Ries
Jean Helga Ries, 84, of Port Orchard died Feb. 12, 2002, at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard.
She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Conway to Richard and Eugenia (Engman) Lundberg. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1935 and later from business college in Seattle.
She married
Clyde A. Ries on Sept. 14, 1940, in Mount Vernon. Mrs. Ries was a homemaker.
She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Elim Lutheran Church in Port Orchard and a past member of the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Richard C. of Salem, Ore.; and a daughter, Diana Picknell of Seattle.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. A memorial service follows at Elim Lutheran Church.

Genevieve Snively
Genevieve May Snively, 68, of Silverdale died Feb. 9, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Feb. 17, 1933, in Portland, Ore., to Raymond C. and Liela May (Dobbs) Ziesing. She graduated from Portland's Franklin High School in 1950.
She married
Virgil Howard Snively on Nov. 26, 1950, in Portland.
Mrs. Snively was retired from positions with the federal government as a voucher examiner at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center at Keyport and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. She received a number of awards for her work.
She was a member of Alpha Beta Kappa.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Timothy and his wife, Traci, of Kingston and Eric Snively of Silverdale; a daughter, Karen Titterness and her companion, Bob Dickinson, of Kingston; a brother, Ron Ziesing of Ravensdale; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Terence "Terry."
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Christian Life Center in Port Orchard.

Ocella White
Ocella Christine White, 82, of Bremerton died Feb. 8, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Stillwater County, Okla., to Jesse O. and Emma Lou (Lakey) Petty.
She married
Jacob W. White in 1935 in Stillwater County. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. White enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jean White; a brother, Kenneth Ray Petty of Yakima; two sisters, Genevieve Deloris Livengood and Ann Ruth Marts; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy L. Damlo, Thelma M. Maham, Shirley M. Baker and Sherry J. Low; two brothers, Jesse D. and Clifford L. Petty; and two daughters, Betty Lou Callwell and Virginia C. Gold.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3414 Ninth St., Bremerton.
John Probert
Former Silverdale resident John Probert, 49, of Shelton died Feb. 12, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Oct. 8, 1952, in Puyallup to Clement and Olga (Lee) Probert. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1970.
He married
Toni Sundstrom on Sept. 29, 1973, in Bremerton.
Mr. Probert worked in the welding supply sales industry for 21 years. He had been employed for the past two years by Pacific Welding Supply in Gorst.
He enjoyed traveling and photography.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Aaron of Port Townsend; two brothers, Rolly of Yuma, Ariz., and Jim of Brownsville; a sister, Jean Laird of Graham; nine nieces; and eight nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Carmelita Hunt
Carmelita S. Hunt of Bremerton died after a year-long battle with cancer
Feb. 1, 2002, at Sun Health Hospice House in Phoenix. She and her husband were wintering in Arizona at the time of her death.
She was born in West Liberty, Iowa, in 1925. After graduation from high school in 1943, she married
Malcolm W. Hunt. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in November.
Mrs. Hunt held a supervisory position in personalized services with the Navy Exchange at Naval Station Bremerton for more than 15 years, retiring in 1992.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening, and watching baseball, tennis and figure skating. She loved animals and always had pets.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Kristiann Kirby; and three grandchildren, Francheska, Alexi and Aury Kirby. Her son, Steven, preceded her in death in 1966. He was 17.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Orchards Community Church in Lewiston, Idaho, with a reception following.

Troy Moore
Former Port Orchard resident Troy Moore, 98, of Sequim died Dec. 19, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 23, 1903, in Snoqualmie to Eugene and Elizabeth Jane (Mills) Moore. He graduated in 1923 from Snoqualmie High School, earned his teaching certificate in 1926 at Bellingham Normal School and received his bachelor of arts degree in education in 1948 at Western Washington College.
He married
Georgia Jean Davis of Port Orchard on June 3, 1932, in Olympia. She preceded him in death in 2000.
Mr. Moore was a teacher and administrator in the South Kitsap School District for 39 years, beginning his career there in 1926. In 1928, he became principal of the Annapolis Grade School.
In 1942, he was named principal of the new Givens Grade School. He remained at Givens for 23 years, retiring from education in 1965.
After his retirement, he operated Moore Vehicle Sales at his home at the bottom of Mile Hill in Port Orchard until 1975. He and his wife moved to Sequim in 1975, where he pursued his hobbies, fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Troy K. and Loryn of Canby, Ore., Stanley J. and Janine of Forks and W. Mikel and Ann of Soldotna, Alaska; a daughter, Merrianne Makela and her husband, George, of Cashmere; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A remembrance gathering for Troy Moore will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Givens Community Center in Port Orchard.
Doris Ladely
Doris A. Ladely, 94, of Silverdale died Feb. 6, 2002, in Silverdale.
She was born Feb. 11, 1907, in Wolverine, Mich., to James and Kathryn (Howland) Hulin.
She married
Jim Ladely. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Mrs. Ladely was a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose, a member of Unity Church of Bremerton, a volunteer with South Kitsap Helpline and a caregiver at St. Gabriel Catholic Church (from age 83 to 94).
Survivors include two sons, Gary of Sumner and Rob and his fiancee, Jeanne Ogle, of Bremerton; a daughter, Pat Gress and her husband, Joe, of Sequim; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Mike, and a sister, Ardis.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Unity Church of Bremerton. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Joseph Leland
Former Gig Harbor resident Joseph Leonard Leland, 88, of Tacoma died Feb. 10, 2002, at Tacoma Lutheran Home.
He was born Oct. 21, 1913, in Los Angeles to Theodore and Gertrude (Schwartz) Leland. He was a graduate of Los Angeles High School.
He married
Eve Herz on Jan. 7, 1944, in New Rochelle, N.Y.
Mr. Leland served in the Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1946, achieving the rank of major. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a consultant with International Executive Service Corporation for 10 years, retiring in 1980.
Mr. Leland enjoyed reading, camping and traveling. He was a Unitarian Universalist.
Survivors include his wife; one son, David of Santa Cruz, Calif.; a daughter Jill Eshenbaugh of Silverdale; a sister, Teddy Cole of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren, Dave Eshenbaugh of Seattle and Zachary Leland of Santa Cruz.
A celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Tacoma Unitarian Church, 1115 S 56th St. in Tacoma.
