Elton Lindblad
Elton V. Lindblad, 75, of Bremerton died Jan. 28, 2002, at his home.
He was born April 30, 1926, in Sunnyside to Milton E. and Mary H. (Fuerst) Lindblad. He graduated in 1944 from Bremerton High School, in 1948 from Olympic College and in 1951 from the University of Washington.
He married
Mildred "Millie" Anderson on Nov. 14, 1959, in Tacoma.
Mr. Lindblad served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946, achieving the rank of aviation electrician third class. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He later was a chemist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 30 years, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Lindblad enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of Lincoln Avenue Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul of Bremerton; and two sisters, Alida A. Eikum and Dolores Davidson, both of Seattle.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church. Interment
will be at Forest Lawn cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Edna Holfert
Former Bremerton resident Edna Holfert, 58, of Corvallis, Ore., died of cancer Jan. 24, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. She had lived in Corvallis for the past five years.
She was born Sept. 24, 1943, in Bremerton to Ed and Helen Blaske. She graduated in 1961 from East High School in Bremerton and in 1966 from Western Washington University.
She married
Gale Holfert on Aug. 2, 1969, in Bremerton at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Holfert and her husband taught many years in public schools in the Pacific Northwest. They also taught Sunday school classes.
She had been active with the Association of Retarded Citizens from 1979 to 1996 when her family lived in Kodiak, Alaska.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Max of Corvallis; two daughters, Annie Thompson and her husband Jared of Ashland, Ore., and Jody Holfert of Albany, Ore.; a brother, Don Blaske of Monroe; and one granddaughter, Jordan Bechner of Albany. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Blaske of Arizona, and her parents.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 2509 Perry Ave., in Bremerton. A graveside service follows at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park with a reception at Oyster Bay Inn on Kitsap Way in Bremerton.
Aaron Lichter
Aaron T. Lichter, 29, of Bremerton died in his sleep Jan. 8, 2002, at his home. Mr. Lichter had suffered from cerebral palsy and Lennox-Gestaut seizure syndrome since birth.
He was born Oct. 12, 1972, in Winslow to Anton C. and Kathleen A. (Ligammari) Lichter. He attended schools in Bremerton, including the Holly Ridge Center, the Marion Avenue School, West Hills Elementary School and Olympic High School.
Mr. Lichter enjoyed music, especially classical, jazz and reggae. A favorite pastime was going "hiking" through the woods in his wheelchair.
He is survived by his mother; a brother, Karl A. of Snohomish; two nieces Maddy and Ava, both of Snohomish; his grandmothers, Lucille Lichter Kant of Lacey and Evelyn Ligammari of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; an uncle, Robert Lichter of Olympia; six aunts; and nine cousins.
A private celebration of his life will be held later at the family home. Cremation is under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Prenters Broughton
Prenters Broughton Jr., 69, of Port Orchard died Jan. 30, 2002, at his home.
He was born May 11, 1932, in Troup, Texas, to Prenters and Janie (Daniels) Broughton Sr. He graduated in 1952 from Stanton High School in Whitehouse, Texas, and from Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey, Calif.
Mr. Broughton served in the Army from 1952 to 1977, achieving the rank of master sergeant. He served two tours of duty in Korea and two in Vietnam, receiving the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
He later worked in civil service as a warehouseman for 16 years at Fort Ord, Calif., and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He retired from PSNS in 1997.
He married
Grace Jabillo on May 28, 1989, in Reno, Nev.
Mr. Broughton was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; six sons; three daughters; three sisters, Elizabeth Newsome of Lindale, Texas, and Mae Ella Green and Georgia Brown, both of Troup; 21 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Services will be held in Tyler, Texas, at a later date, with interment at Evergreen cemetery there.

Duane Severson
Duane Severson, 59, of Port Orchard died Jan. 28, 2002, at Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born April 14, 1942, in Roseau, Minn., to William and Myrtle (Moore) Severson. He attended South Kitsap High School.
Mr. Severson served in the Army Reserve from 1960 to 1964. He also worked for more than 20 years maintaining rental properties owned by his family.
In addition, he had pursued an avocation as a drummer, performing with several bands.
Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Perelli of Port Orchard; and two brothers, Bill of Minneapolis and LuVerne of Port Orchard. He was preceded in death by his father and his twin brother, Darrell, in 1981.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fraola cemetery in Olalla. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Charlotte Swan
Charlotte A. Swan, 81, of Bremerton died Jan. 27, 2002, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
She was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Vancouver, British Columbia, to William and Laura Mitchell. She was a 1939 graduate of Bremerton High School.
She married
Forrest A. Swan on Oct. 12, 1941, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Mrs. Swan co-owned the Bremerton Sports Shop on Pacific Avenue for 40 years, retiring in 1985.
She enjoyed gardening, cross-stitch, hunting and fishing with her husband, "Forrie, " and spending time with her dog Suzie.
Survivors include two daughters, Alayne Vandiver of Poulsbo and Leslie Jensen of Yakima; a sister, Vivian (Graves) Lockwood of Seattle; and five grandchildren, Kelli Jean Schnurman, Traci Markham and Gunnar, Lars and Shannon Thorsen.

Jerry Reinke
Former Bremerton resident Ingrid-Ursula "Jerry" Reinke, 60, of Oak Harbor died of heart failure Jan. 27, 2002, in Oak Harbor.
She was born Dec. 18, 1941, in Berlin, Germany, to Karl and Ursula (Karola) Hutter. She was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School in Hayward, Calif.
She married
William E. Reinke Sr. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Mrs. Reinke was a homemaker.
She volunteered at the Oak Harbor Senior Center and was a member of the Navy Wives Club and Oak Harbor Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling and taking weekend trips with friends.
Survivors include a son, William E. "Bill" of Seattle, and three sisters, Hannalore Hutter and Linda Baker, both of Hope, Ind., and Theresa Carney of Roy, Idaho.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today at Oak Harbor Lutheran Church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor with burial at sea by the Navy at a later date.

George Martin
George Charles Martin Jr., 68, of Bremerton died of heart complications Jan. 26, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born April 4, 1933, in Sarasota, Fla., to George Charles Martin Sr. and Nettie (Salfred) Martin. He was a graduate of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla.
He married
Mechthild Seibig on June 18, 1966, in Springfield, Mo. She preceded him in death in 1994.
Mr. Martin owned a family counseling service in Seattle, retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed writing and reading. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his companion, Betty Birkett of Bremerton, and three sons, Paul of Madrid, Spain, Chris of Seattle and John of Vashon Island. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of his life memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Private inurnment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Mona Tibbitt
Mona Audrey Tibbitt, 67, of Port Orchard died Jan. 28, 2002, at her home.
She was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Richmond, Va., to William and Edith (Harris) Feltner. She attended high school in Ajo, Ariz.
She married
Operia Tibbitt. They were divorced in 1988 and he preceded her in death in 1993.
She was a postal worker at Washington Veterans Home in Retsil for 14 years, retiring in 1983.
She enjoyed genealogy and crafts.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen A. and Gaylen, both of Port Orchard; three grandchildren, Jason Tibbitt, Stephen Tibbitt II and Breanne Tibbitt; and one great-grandchild, Jordan Tibbitt. She also was preceded in death by her parents, William Feltner and Edith (Harris) Browne.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of her son, Stephen, in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation & Burial Society.
Helen Colombini
Helen Colombini, 89, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Jan. 25, 2002, at her home.
She was born Jan. 1, 1913, in Portugal to Manuel and Olinda Santoes.
She was married
to Elvezio Colombini on May 21, 1966, in Reno, Nev..
She worked in food processing for 25 years and retired in 1979.
Mrs. Colombini enjoyed gardening and her family.
She is survived by her husband; two sons Norman and Ernest Nagli of Port Orchard; a daughter Helen Christerson of Gig Harbor; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Rill Chapel.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, also at Rill Chapel. She will be interred at Sunset Lane cemetery. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Jerry Butler
Gerald Francis "Jerry" Butler, 75, of Indianola died after a 10-year battle with cancer Jan. 19, 2002, at Island Health and Rehabilitation Center on Bainbridge Island.
He was born Oct. 16, 1926, in Seattle to Lawrence and Agnes Butler. He graduated from Queen Anne High School in Seattle and attended the University of Washington, where he pledged Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Mr. Butler served in the Army. He later worked in sales for W.P. Fuller, Boise Cascade, Georgia Pacific and Columbia Corrugated until his retirement in 1989.
He enjoyed his family, spending time at Indianola Beach, playing duplicate bridge and watching and participating in sports, especially pickleball. He also was active in the Indianola Beach Improvement Club, which honored him as Person of the Year in 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; his six children, Susan Hancock and her husband Bill, Dan and his wife Susan, and Tim and Rob, all of Indianola, Katie Johnson and her husband Ken of Poulsbo, and Mike and his wife Susan of Salem, Ore.; a brother, Don and his wife Marge of West Seattle; two stepdaughters, Terri Jones and her husband Gary of Canby, Ore., and Lisa Carscallen and her husband Steve of Oregon City, Ore.; a stepson, John Modispacher and his wife Joy of Hadlock; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Laddie and Bill; his sister, Bettie Klinker; and his wife Ann Butler.
