Frank Rusk
Frank M. Rusk, 65, of Port Orchard died of cancer Jan. 18, 2002, at Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma.
He was born April 2, 1936, in Yakima to Clifford L. and LaVina (Boner) Rusk. He graduated in 1955 from Sedro-Woolley High School.
Mr. Rusk served in the Army from 1958 to 1960, achieving the rank of private first class. He was awarded a Parachutist Badge.
He later was a tankerman with the Merchant Marine and an equipment cleaner at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He studied coins, currency and related items. He also enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his former wife, Barbara (Bunge) Rusk; his mother, of Port Orchard; a son, Jack of Bremerton; a daughter, Cheryl Bowen and her husband, Gene, of Port Orchard; a brother, Skip of Port Orchard; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Interment
will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Edward Aristonic
Edward M. Aristonic, 87, of Bremerton died Jan. 22, 2002, at Martha & Mary Health Center in Poulsbo.
He was born Dec. 10, 1914, in Roslyn to Theresa (Jurevec) and Louis Aristonic. He graduated from Cle Elum High School in 1933.
On April 12, 1969, he married
his wife Dorothy in Bremerton. She preceded him in death in 1999.
Mr. Aristonic served in the Navy from January 1942 to December 1944, during World War II. He served aboard USS Pawnee in the South Pacific, achieving the rank of petty officer second class.
He was a coal miner in Roslyn and later was a truck and bus driver at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1970. He enjoyed bowling and had a private pilot's license.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheri Brooks of Silverdale and Sandi Giroux of Churchville, Md.; three sisters, Edythe Days of Chehalis, Stephanie Fredrick of Ellensburg and Marie Roe of Couer d'Alene, Idaho; five grandchildren, Ryan Brooks of Silverdale, Robyn Brooks of Bremerton, Wendy Miller of Pennsylvania and Karyn and David Giroux of Maryland; and three great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Aristonic, and a sister, Martha Aristonic.
Visitation will be from9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow there at 10:30 a.m. Interment
will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Mavis Brady
Mavis D. Brady, 74, of Bremerton died Jan. 22, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Sheffield, England, to Frank and Eva (Crumpton) Eccersley.
She married
Bob Brady. They later were divorced.
Her interests included foster grandparenting, volunteering Olympic View Elementary School and cooking.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas, Mark and Scott; two daughters, Cindy and Roberta; and grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be at 3 p.m. today at Olympic View Elementary School.
Arrangements will be under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Ralph Warhurst
Ralph W. Warhurst, 76, of Silverdale died Jan. 16, 2002, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born Oct. 13, 1925, in Webster, Mass., to George and Rose (Wheelock) Warhurst. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster and from Worcester School of Business and Science in Worcester, Mass.
He married
Doris I. Gilbert on Feb. 17, 1945, in Florida.
Mr. Warhurst served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, achieving the rank of staff sergeant.
He was a private accountant for 40 years, retiring in 1985. He practiced in Webster and in Freemont, Calif.
Mr. Warhurst enjoyed golf, outdoor activities, traveling and camping. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife; one son, George of Olalla; two daughters, Tami Vileta of Woodinville and Teri Rinta of Copperopolis, Calif.; two sisters, Doris Montville and Grace Young, both of Webster; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Pelletier.
A memorial service was held Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Inurnment took place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Josie Nielsen
Josie Isabelle Nielsen, 86, of Poulsbo died Jan. 17, 2002, in Poulsbo.
She was born June 3, 1915, in Seattle to Everett Escomb and Ann (Wicks) See. She graduated from Queen Anne High School in Seattle.
She was an entertainer with the USO during World War II and later sold Avon for 50 years.
Survivors include two sons, Peter Wicks of Seattle and Evan Thompson of Nevada; one daughter, I. Evonne Posten of Keyport; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service today at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 6701 30th Ave. SW, Seattle, WA 98126. Committal follows at Forest Lawn cemetery in Seattle.

Victor Hofdahl
Victor C. Hofdahl, 84, of Bremerton died of Alzheimer's disease Jan. 21, 2002, in Bremerton.
He was born May 8, 1917, in Volga, S.D., to Benhard and Amanda (Stime) Haffdal. He graduated in 1935 from Sinai High School in Sinai, S.D., and in 1947 from J.M. Perry Institute in Yakima.
He married
Claudia Halverson on April 16, 1942, in Bremerton.
Mr. Hofdahl served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945, assigned to the Allied Air Force headquarters in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations and achieving the rank of staff sergeant. He received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and a bronze oak leaf emblem issued by the British government for having been awarded a mention in dispatches.
He later was a sheetmetal mechanic for 30 years for Lent's in Bremerton and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He retired in 1981.
Mr. Hofdahl was a member of the American Legion, the Sons of Norway, the Montana Historical Society and Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Bremerton. He was a former member of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation and the Barbershop Quartet Society.
He is survived by his wife. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 11th and Veneta, in Bremerton. Interment
will follow at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Kristen Roberts
Kristen Rehnstrand Main Roberts, 49, of Belfair died Jan. 18, 2002, following a traffic accident on North Shore Road in Belfair.
She was born March 23, 1952, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., to Edward John and Joyce LeVerne (Bowers) Rehnstrand.
She married
Gary Lynn Roberts on Oct. 22, 1999, in Belfair.
Mrs. Roberts was a court advocate with the domestic violence perpetrator team of AmeriCorps in Kitsap and Mason counties. She received a letter of recognition for her work with AmeriCorps.
She enjoyed collecting Asian and Native American art. Other interests were crafts, music, dance, gardening, camping, hiking, swimming and beach-combing.
Mrs. Roberts was associated with North Mason Pee Wees, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and the North Mason Eagles.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Dustin Chase Edward of Belfair; one daughter, Chelsea B. Main of Bremerton; two sisters, Jill Martin of Marysville and Dana Rehnstrand; and two grandchildren, Hailee and Jack Woods, both of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God in Belfair. Arrangements are under the direction of McComb Funeral Home in Shelton.
Bessie Hess
Bessie Juanita Hess, 96, of Port Orchard died Jan. 19, 2002, at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard.
She was born Feb. 22, 1905, in Bremerton to Charles A. and Rose A. (Harrison) Williams. She had attended Bremerton High School.
She married
Lyle K. Hess on May 3, 1946, in Bremerton.
Mrs. Hess was a homemaker who enjoyed flowers and ceramics. She had been an active member of Lincoln Avenue Bible Church until her later years.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Robert E. Brown of Olympia, Raymond Brown and his wife, Gayle, of Millville, Utah, and Duane Brown and his wife, Marion, of Bremerton; three daughters, Maxine Conn and her husband, Bob, of Arizona City, Ariz., Bonnie J. Ballew of Bremerton and Virginia Lane; 25 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Murle J. Brown Sr.; two sons, Murle J. Brown Jr. and John O. Brown; four sisters, Olive and Gladys Pease, Beatrice Goodsell and Darlene McWhorter; and a brother, Charles A. Williams.
A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Kipp Howe
Former Bremerton resident Kipp Allan Howe, 47, of Ephrata died of a brain aneurysm Jan. 19, 2002, in Ephrata.
He was born May 9, 1954, in Camp Hanford to Victor and Philomena "Joni" (Schueck) Howe. He spent his early childhood in Colville and his teen years in Bremerton, graduating in 1972 from West High School.
Mr. Howe was a finish carpenter. In recent years, he was a production supervisor with Geni Industries at its Moses Lake plant.
He was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting and driving his Blazer over the back roads and in the mountains. He also was a guitarist, having played in several bands.
Survivors include his fiancee, Georgetta Bussey of Ephrata; his parents of Port Orchard; one son, Quintin Allan of Hoodsport; three brothers, Danny of Belfair, Kevin of Spokane and Dean of Aberdeen; one sister, Cheeri Smith of Port Orchard; five nieces, three nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Nichols Funeral Chapel in Ephrata.
Grace Griffith
Grace Griffith, 83, of Bremerton died Jan. 23, 2002, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
She was born May 7, 1918, in Alderwood Manor to Albert and Rose Barr. She graduated from high school in Edmonds.
She married
Robert Griffith on Aug. 12, 1965, in Tacoma.
Mrs. Griffith was a secretary with Crown-Zellerbach in the Seattle area and with the Washington State Highway Department in Gorst. She retired in 1975.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and her association with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Bremerton. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for many years.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Chris Hillman and his wife, Rosa, of Cloverdale, Calif.; two daughters, Marie Giberson and her husband, Dale of Lafayette, Calif., and Kathryn Chalfant of Woodinville; two stepchildren, Gary Griffith and his wife, Anita, of Belize, Central America, and Sharon Neem and her husband, Rein, of Blaine; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, 3414 Ninth St. in Bremerton. Inurnment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Paul Tucker
Paul Edward Tucker, 61, of Bremerton died Jan. 14, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born March 12, 1940, in Edmonds to Paul Fitzgerald and Florence (Jordan) Tucker. He graduated from Edmonds High School.
Mr. Tucker enjoyed spending time with his son and fishing. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include three sons, Stephen Ray Tucker of Port Orchard, Christopher Lawrence Chelemedos and David Wayne Chelemedos, both of Kent; one brother, Robert Gerald Tucker of Bremerton; and six grandchildren.
A wake and potluck will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles, Sixth and California, in Bremerton. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Trinity Catholic Church on Pine Road in Bremerton.
