Glenda Laudermilk
Former Bremerton resident Glenda Jane Laudermilk, 62, of Tacoma died Jan. 11, 2002, in Tacoma. She had lived in Bremerton more than 30 years.
She was born Nov. 11, 1939, in Tukwila to Glen and Blanch (Smith) Davis.
Survivors include her mother; her children, Martha Hill, Tim Laudermilk and his wife, Veronica, Jennifer Fritz, David Laudermilk and Miriam Verdugo; nine grandchildren; and five sisters. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeff.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Funeral Home in Tacoma.

Esther Holland
Esther M. Holland, 77, of Poulsbo died of a heart attack Jan. 6, 2002, in Poulsbo.
She was born Aug. 6, 1924, in Carpenter, Iowa, to Nicholas and Cora (Bushman) Jongeward.
She was self-employed. She enjoyed camping and music.
Survivors include four sons, Ron Culver of Shelton and Mike Maloy and Dennis and Richard Simpson, all of Washington state; three daughters, Sharon Bauman and Linda Nickerson, both of Port Orchard, and Donna Liken of Poulsbo; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Colby United Methodist Church. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital, 4800 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105.

Ruth DeLany Edwards
Ruth DeLany Edwards, 80, of Bainbridge Island died Jan. 12, 2002, on Bainbridge Island.
She was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Chicago to Clarence Martin DeLany and Florence (Mudie) DeLany. She was educated in Chicago, graduating from Lakeview High School in 1937 and attending Wright Junior College.
She married Benjamin Franklin Edwards Jr. on June 30, 1945, in Chicago.
Her memberships on Bainbridge Island included a garden club, the Nature Conservancy and St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
Her survivors include a son, Benjamin F. Edwards III of West Linn, Ore.; a daughter, Ann Macdonell of Mission, British Columbia; a sister, Ann DeLany of Poulsbo; and five grandchildren.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. A rosary will be said at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, also at St. Cecilia, followed by a funeral Mass there at 1 p.m. Inurnment will be in Calvary cemetery in Evanston, Ill. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home on Bainbridge Island.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 1310 Madison Ave. N., Winslow, WA 98110.

Polly Wright
Polly Wright, 79, of Bremerton died Jan. 8, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Oklahoma.
Survivors include two sons, Ned and Terry Wright of Belfair; a daughter, Mary Wright of Lake City; a brother, John Banks of Kirkland; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John.

Allan Omlid
Allan Omlid, 81, died Dec. 30, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Seattle after a prolonged illness. He was a 20-year resident of Bremerton.
Mr. Omlid served in the Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific theater. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 239.
He retired from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1980.
Funeral services will be at noon on Jan. 19 at Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park in North Seattle.

Robert Terrell
Robert L. "Uncle Bob" Terrell, 65, of Port Orchard died of cancer Jan. 10, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Sept. 25, 1936, in Spokane to Charles and Winifred (Crampton) Terrell. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1954 and from Central Washington University in Ellensburg in 1959.
He married Patricia M. Murphy on Nov. 25, 1974, in Normandy, Mo.
Mr. Terrell worked as a mechanic with his father at Kitsap Motors in Port Orchard. He later worked in the aircraft industry as a contract engineer and tool designer from 1964 until his retirement in 1999.
He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; his mother and stepfather, Winifred and Earl Dagnie of Manchester; two sons, Gary of Albany, Ore., and Robert L. Jr. of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Annette Evans of Purdy; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and by a sister, Marlene Parnell.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

James Cole
James Vincent Cole, 91, of Bainbridge Island died Jan. 3, 2002, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born Sept. 20, 1910, in Cosmopolis to Amos P. and Grace (Hendricks) Cole.
He married Esther (Ridout) Michaelson on Dec. 25, 1936. She preceded him in death in 1994.
Mr. Cole moved to Alaska from Washington state in 1924 with his parents and his brother, Ken, aboard their family trolling boat. Until 1937, he primarily fox-farmed, logged and fished around southeast Alaska.
From 1937 to 1969, he lived in Juneau, where he was the principle partner in the firms Cole Brothers, J.V. Cole & Co. and Cole and Paddock, building port facilities and many major bridges and structures throughout coastal Alaska.
Mr. Cole moved to Bainbridge Island in 1969, pursuing a career as a fisherman/boat builder until 1994. In 1998, he moved to Suquamish, becoming a crafter of homes.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Clifford M. and Elizabeth (Castle) of Juneau; his granddaughter, Susetta (Cole) Beattie of Juneau; two grandsons, Curtis M. of Seattle and Conrad M. of Poulsbo; and his five great-grandchildren, Pamela Fletcher of San Antonio, Texas, Jason Beattie of San Diego, Calif., Kathleen Beattie of Juneau, and Drake and Aidan Cole, both of Poulsbo.
A celebration of Mr. Cole's life is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the United Church of Christ, 18732 Division St. in Suquamish.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bainbridge Public Library, 1270 Madison Ave. N, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110.

Arleen Peterson
Arleen J. Peterson, 65, of Bremerton died Jan. 5, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born July 8, 1936, in Yampa, Colo., to Frank Bolke and Veronica (Wellner) Spero. She graduated from Holy Family High School in Denver in 1954 and from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1957.
She married Eric Peterson May 24, 1968, in Sydney, Australia.
Mrs. Peterson was a member of the Catholic church.
She is survived by her husband; and two brothers, Dwaine Bolke of Dickinson, N.D., and Donald Bolke of Peoria, Ariz.
A private Mass was celebrated at the Jackson Park Chapel.

Neal Thompson
William "Neal" Thompson, 72, of Belfair died Jan. 2, 2002, at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma.
He was born March 30, 1929, in Hawley, Texas, to Preston and Ellen (West) Thompson.
He married Bernadetta May Reed on June 14, 1966, in Reno, Nev.
Mr. Thompson served in the Navy for 20 years, completing his GED during his career and achieving the rank of petty officer first class. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Following his retirement from the Navy, Mr. Thompson worked in sales, retiring in 1995.
He enjoyed golf and traveling.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Terry Adams of Washington, Thomas Thompson of California and Terry Thompson of Oregon; two daughters, Melanie Wells of Washington and Cindy Schippman of California; a brother, Cody of Texas; four sisters, Audrey Hise, Maryrose Ott, Oleta McCormick and Wanda Wade, all of Texas; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris White.
Services are private. Inurnment will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.

Elizabeth Smokoff
Elizabeth Joy Cooper Smokoff, 50, of Bremerton died of a stomach ulcer Dec. 31, 2001, at her home.
She was born May 21, 1951, in Jacksonville, Fla., to Jesse and Anna (Schwalbe) Cooper. She was a 1969 graduate of West High School in Bremerton. She also graduated from Lee's Beauty School in Bremerton in 1970 and had attended Olympic College.
She served in the Army from 1971 to 1974, achieving the rank of sergeant.
She married William "Bill" Smokoff on Nov. 7, 1978, in Port Orchard.
Mrs. Smokoff was a clerk-typist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for five years. She also was a seamstress and enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, of Bremerton; her father, of Puyallup; a son, Joshua of Bremerton; and three brothers, Mark and Karl, both of Bremerton, and David of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at The Salvation Army, 832 Sixth St. in Bremerton.

Barry Heller
Barry H. Heller, 61, of Bremerton died of a heart condition Jan. 6, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1940, in Los Angeles to Harry E. and Marvaleene M. (Davis) Heller.
He married Delia E. Angulo on March 1, 1959.
Mr. Heller served in the Navy from 1957 to 1963. He later was a paint contractor and mechanical engineer.
He was a car enthusiast and a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Palos Verdes, Calif.; two sons, Joe of Port Townsend and Richard of Ponce de Leon Inlet, Fla.; two daughters, Erin Horton of Bremerton and Rachel Heller of Poulsbo; a brother, Mark of Templeton, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Nall of Palos Verdes; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services are private.

Jimmy Fast
Jimmy Allan Fast, 48, of Bremerton died Jan. 5, 2002, at his home.
He was born April 3, 1953, in Bremerton to Willard and Marjorie (Bulmon) Fast. He was a 1972 graduate of West High School in Bremerton.
He married Eva Chin on Dec. 14, 1976, in Bremerton.
Mr. Fast was a cook for 12 years. He enjoyed drawing, computer games and reading.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jimmy and Clayton, both of Bremerton; a daughter, Crystal of Bremerton; a brother, Fred of Bremerton; a stepbrother; a stepsister; and one granddaughter, Amber. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 19 at First United Methodist Church, 1150 Marine Drive in Bremerton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
