Richard Abbott
Richard Guy Abbott, 43, of Bremerton died of an aneurysm Dec. 7, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1958, in Longview to Richard Wayne and Patricia "Patsy" (Miller) Abbott. He attended South Kitsap High School.
Mr. Abbott was a carpenter for 20 years.
He collected Hot Wheels and Coca-Cola memorabilia. He also enjoyed landscaping.
He is survived by his companion, Teresa Hansen; his mother, Patricia "Patsy" Seachord; two sons, Rick and Shane, both of Bremerton; two daughters, Deana of Bremerton and Kristen of Salt Lake City, Utah; a half-brother, Michael T. Seachord of Belfair; a sister, Elaine M. Counts of Columbia Falls, Mont.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, his stepfather, Gay D. Seachord, and his maternal grandparents, Toby and Betty Miller.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sunnyslope Community Center.

Paul DeMiero
Paul James DeMiero, 82, of Bremerton died Dec. 8, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born July 23, 1919, in New Castle, Pa., to Paul and Anna (Figola) DeMiero.
He married
Annette Rogone on March 2, 1940, in McKees Port, Pa.
Mr. DeMiero worked for Simpson Lumber in Shelton and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He retired in 1982.
He was a member of the Sons of Italy.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Darla J. Hartley of Bremerton and Sylvia Howard of Vantage; a sister, Sylvia Lux of Port Orchard; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Frank and Gene; and an infant daughter, Paula.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Herman Anderson
Herman H. Anderson, 84, of Poulsbo died of pulmonary fibrosis Dec. 3, 2001, at Martha & Mary Health Center in Poulsbo.
He was born March 25, 1917, in Anacortes to Henry Jacob and Caroline (Carlman) Anderson. He was a 1936 graduate of Anacortes Senior High School.
After graduating from high school he went on to Catalina Island, Calif., for Merchant Marine training conducted by the Coast Guard. He was a merchant seaman from 1941 to 1945 in the South Pacific. During that time, he received the World War II Victory Medal and other commendations.
He later worked for Washington State Ferries from 1955, retiring in 1979 after many years as a captain.
He married
Edith E. Murphy in July 1955 in Suquamish. She preceded him in death in 1999.
Mr. Anderson enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include a stepson, Robert W. Murphy of Poulsbo; a brother, Ernie of Anacortes; two sisters, Alice Fowler of Anacortes and Eva Dorsey of the Northgate area of Seattle; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Rob Murphy.
A memorial service will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Driftwood Key Clubhouse in the Driftwood Key area near Hansville. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
Mary Kvinsland
Mary E. Kvinsland, 89, of Port Townsend died Dec. 2, 2001, at Kah Tai Care Center in Port Townsend.
She was born Sept. 25, 1912, in Spokane to Murl R. and Ellen Snyder. She graduated in 1929 with top academic honors from Poulsbo High School.
She married
John Phillip Kvinsland in 1930 in Poulsbo. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Mrs. Kvinsland was a bookkeeper and a homemaker.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing bingo and gardening. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Port Townsend.
Survivors include two sons, Phillip Gary of Ethel and Lonny M. of Port Townsend; a daughter, Phyllis of Port Townsend; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services are private. Interment
will be at Laurel Grove cemetery in Port Townsend. Arrangements are under the direction of Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend.

Lee Sattler
Lee Sattler, 56, of Port Orchard died Dec. 2, 2001, in Port Orchard.
He was born Dec. 19, 1944, in Middletown, Conn., to Arthur and Bernadette Sattler. He graduated in 1962 from St. Monica's High School in Santa Monica, Calif. He also graduated in 1967 from Chenard Art Institute in Los Angeles.
He married
Christina Mencacci in Santa Monica, Calif.
He served as a private in the Army. He later was an artisan and craftsman for 34 years.
He enjoyed his cats, Heebie Jeebie, Tootie Fruity and Boney Maroney.
Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Roger of Washington, D.C., and Jon and Dennis, both of San Diego; and three sisters, Barbara Sattler, Patricia Sattler and Linda Sattler, all of San Diego.
A memorial will be at 4 p.m. today at the family home, 1273 Beach Drive E. in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.

Susan Henton
Susan L. Henton, 49, of Silverdale died of a stroke Dec. 2, 2001, in Seattle.
She was born Feb. 12, 1952, in Taipei, Taiwan, where she was educated.
She married
her husband, Tom, on Dec. 2, 1978, in Taipei.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and cooking.
She was a Catholic.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, John of Seattle and David of Silverdale; and three brothers, all of Taiwan. She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., also at the church. Interment
will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Jeanne Higgs
Jeanne D. Higgs, 74, of Bremerton died of pancreatic cancer Nov. 27, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Luverne, Minn., to Vernon and C. Fern (Spears) Scott. She was a 1945 graduate of Bremerton High School.
She was a businesswoman and bookkeeper for more than 50 years.
She enjoyed family gatherings, making them special events, and gardening. She was recognized in The Sun as one of the first Unsung Heroes for her volunteer work.
She was a member of the Unity Church of Bremerton.
Survivors include her husband, Hurley "Bud"; three sons, Joseph Zdenek of Shoreline, Gregory of Lebanon, Ore., and Curtis of Silverdale; four daughters, Deborah Moore and Russelle Pike, both of Bremerton, Wendy Sienkiewich of Port Orchard and Cindy Heeter of Silverdale; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles, and her stepmother, Ann.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Unity Church of Bremerton, 1712 Trenton Ave.

George Rush
George Rush, 53, of Bremerton died of a heart attack Dec. 2, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 20, 1948, in Clinton, Okla., to Raymond and Georgia (Agee) Rush. He graduated in 1968 from Simi Valley High School in Simi Valley, Calif. He attended the University of Santa Barbara in California and graduated in 1998 from Olympic College.
Mr. Rush served in the Army in the early 1970s and in the Army National Guard from 1983 to 1986, achieving the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and an award for marksmanship.
He later was a draftsman.
He married
Dana C. Kensett on Aug. 9, 1977, in Simi Valley.
Mr. Rush enjoyed music and drama. He was a student of the Bible and a member of Abundant Life Foursquare Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Georgia Rush of Canoga Park, Calif.; two sons, Jamie H. and Benjamin A., both of Bremerton; two brothers, Daniel of Grapeview and Benjamin of Northridge, Calif.; and a sister, Jeannie Rush of Canoga Park. He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Abundant Life Foursquare Church, 5610 Kitsap Way. Interment
will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Betty Quimby
Betty M. Quimby, 70, of Bremerton died Dec. 5, 2001, of cancer at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle. She had resided in Kitsap County for the past 15 years.
She was born May 17, 1931, in Minneapolis to Thomas M. and Josie (Nessum) Christie.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also was active in line dancing, flower gardening, sewing, fishing and traveling with her longtime companion, E. Clifford Dove.
Her survivors include two sons, Stephen L. of Midwest City, Okla., and Thomas M. of Grantsburg, Wis.; a daughter, Judith A. Olsen of Bremerton; a sister, Ethel "Gwen" Lien of Bloomington, Minn.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a large, extended family. She was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Christie of Salem, Ore., in April.
A memorial service will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the clubhouse at Kariotis Mobile Estates, 3060 NE McWilliams Road in Bremerton.

Ted Sirotzki
Theodore "Ted" Sirotzki, 60, of Port Orchard died of cancer Dec. 3, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Dec. 9, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., to August and Sonia (Klepatski) Sirotzki. He graduated in 1960 from Waller High School in Chicago and in 1968, completed the apprenticeship program at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1965.
He married
Jane Mock on Jan. 18, 1964, at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane.
Mr. Sirotzki started as a welder at PSNS in 1974 and was a naval architect technician at the time of his death. He worked for the shipyard for 27 years.
He held several offices for Knights of Columbus and was a stamp collector.
He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Matt of Seattle and Jim, Daniel and Steven, all of Port Orchard; a daughter, Chandra Baker of Port Orchard; three brothers, August and Norman, both of Chicago, and Sidney of Atlanta; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at
St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
