Roger Phillips
Roger Lynn Phillips, 46, of Silverdale died Dec. 12, 1998, at Harborview Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 18, 1952, in Winfield, Kan., to John and Velda (Winn) Phillips. He was raised in Howard, Kan., graduating from Howard High School in 1970.
On May 13, 1978, he married
Lucille Rodrigues in San Diego.
Mr. Phillips served in the Army for five years, serving in Vietnam. He then joined the Navy in 1976, retiring as an E-8 in 1998. He served on the USS Ohio, the first Trident submarine, and also on the USS Alabama and the USS Georgia. At the time of his death he worked as an electronics technician for Applied Data Technology Global Services Inc.
He was a former member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; two sons, Jose Rodrigues and Robert Phillips, both of Silverdale; two daughters, Lynn and Amber Phillips, both of Silverdale; a brother, Ricky of Greensburgh, Penn.; and a grandchild, Melissa Rodrigues of Silverdale. He was preceded in death by his father in 1983; and two brothers, Ronnie in 1955 and Randy in 1985.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 17 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with military graveside honors to follow.
Nellie Hollis
Nellie May Hollis, 87, of Port Orchard died Dec. 14, 1998, in Bremerton.
She was born Feb. 15, 1911, in Cambridge, Md. She was raised in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Hollis was a member of the Sinclair Missionary Baptist Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include a niece, Flora DeWalt of Bremerton; and a brother, Leon Kane of Philadelphia.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 18 at Sinclair Missionary Baptist Church, with a funeral service immediately following.

Opal Sitton
Opal Sitton, 78, of Poulsbo died Dec. 14, 1998, in Bremerton.
She was born Jan. 16, 1920, in Comanche, Okla., to Marvin and Connie (Williams) McCollum.
Mrs. Sitton was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Sitton; two sons, Michael Sitton of Boulder City, Nev., and James Smith of Poulsbo; two daughters, Patricia Smith of Poulsbo and Louise Sitton of Boulder City, Nev.; two brothers, Ralph McCollum of North Carolina and R.O. McCollum of Ajo, Ariz.; and four grandchildren, Gregory Smith of Los Angeles, Kevin and Elizabeth Smith and Mark Sitton, all of Seattle.
Private family services will be conducted.

Pauline Elwell
Pauline J. Elwell, 92, of Bremerton died Dec. 11, 1998, at Forest Ridge Convalescent Center.
She was born June 16, 1906, in Kelso to William and Nellie (Pauly) Elwell. She lived in Kitsap County for the past 85 years. She graduated from Union High School in 1925, and graduated from Bellingham Normal College with a teaching degree in 1928.
She worked as a teacher for the Bremerton School District for 32 years, with her last years devoted to special education.
She was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church, now Lincoln Avenue Bible Church, and the Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her friend and caregiver, Alice M. Merril of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Lincoln Avenue Bible Church, 1221 Chester Ave., Bremerton. Interment
at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Terry Campbell
Terry Eugene Campbell, 49, of Belfair died Dec. 14, 1998, of cancer at his home.
He was born June 3, 1949, in Omak to William and Ellen (Murphy) Campbell. He was raised and educated in Bremerton, attending West High School.
On Dec. 26, 1981, he married
Mona "Sue" Smith in Bremerton.
Mr. Campbell worked at Bangor and Keyport for 25 years as a planner and estimator, retiring in May 1997.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch No. 29 of Bremerton and the Eagles of Belfair.
Survivors include his wife; his father; three sons, Bob Wright of Spanaway, Robbie of Jacksonville, Fla., and Terry of Belfair; two daughters, Wendy of Jacksonville, Fla., and Tammy Wright Sakamoto of Riverside, Calif.; a sister, Donna Morgan of Shelton; and one grandchild, Christian Wright of Spanaway.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 19 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation at Cherry Grove Memorial Park, with inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Allan Foss
Allan Warren Foss, 76, of Bremerton died Dec. 14, 1998, at Belmont Terrace.
He was born Feb. 16, 1922, in Port Blakeley to Harold and Ada (McCall) Foss. He was raised and educated in Bainbridge Island, graduating from Bainbridge High School in 1940. He later attended the University of Washington for two years.
On April 11, 1949, he married
Wandamae Lundin in Seattle.
Mr. Foss served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. Prior to entering the Navy, he entered a machine shop apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Following the war, he returned, retiring as a general foreman machinist in 1979. He was also the original owner of Al's Garden Spot in East Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard of Port Orchard and Terry of Big Fork, Mont.; two sisters, Ina Webber of Anacortes and Frances Eliason of Bainbridge Island; and two grandchildren, Alex and Crystal. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Foss.
A gathering for family and friends with a buffet dinner will be at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at the American Legion Post No. 68, 1240 Sheridan Road, Bremerton.
Private interment at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Dennis Foss
Dennis Dean Foss, 47, of Poulsbo died Dec. 10, 1998, at his home of cancer.
He was born Sept. 9, 1951, in Bremerton to Oscar and Shirley (Stevenson) Foss. He was raised in Poulsbo, graduating from North Kitsap High School in 1970.
On Sept. 2, 1978, he married
Evelyn L. Rush in Bremerton.
Mr. Foss worked for the Kitsap County Road Department for 24 years.
He was a member of the Suquamish Community Congregational United Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeffrey of Camp Pendleton, Calif.; a daughter, Rachel McFadden of Kingston; a stepson, Cole Collins Hatcher of Creswell, Ore.; two brothers, Richard and Ronald, both of Poulsbo; and two grandchildren, Dennis McFadden of Kingston and Spencer Collins Hatcher of Creswell, Ore.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 19 at Suquamish Community Congregational United Church of Christ. A celebration of his life for friends and family will be conducted at his home immediately following the service.

Edna Mabe
Edna "Auntie" E. Mabe, 66, of Suquamish died Dec. 13, 1998, in Bremerton.
She was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Port Townsend to Garnet and Hazel (Moss) Mabe. She was raised in Suquamish and attended schools in North Kitsap.
She was a member of the Suquamish Indian Tribe.
Survivors include five brothers, Lewis, William and Thomas, all of Kingston, and John and Sam, both of Indianola; three sisters, Rose Hoover of South Carolina, Mary of Ohio, and Leloni MacDonald of Indianola. She was preceded in death by her son, Maurice MacDonald, in March.
Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 16 at St. Peters Catholic Church, 7076 NE South St., Suquamish. Interment
will follow at Suquamish cemetery.

Clara Elmore
Clara E. Elmore, 89, of Longview died Dec. 13, 1998, in Puyallup of natural causes.
She was born Nov. 5, 1909, in Elm Park, Minn., to Louis and Emma (Berg) Berg. She was raised and educated in Stanchfield, Minn., later moving to Longview.
In 1945, she married
Ted Elmore in Longview. He preceded her in death in 1983.
Mrs. Elmore was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Nazarene Church in Longview.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Varner of Silverdale and Robert Varner of Vancouver, Wash.; three daughters, Irene Wilson of Puyallup, Betty Frodsham of Renton and Kay Petrie of Shelton; a brother, Warren Berg of Vancouver, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren in Washington and Los Angeles. She was also preceded in death by two sons, John and Don; two brothers, Joe and Albert; and a sister, Alice Funkhouser.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Dec. 17 at Columbia Funeral Home, 11th and Maple, Longview. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Nazarene Church. Interment
at Cowlitz View Memorial Garden.
