George Eyler
George D. Eyler, 83, of Bremerton died of respiratory failure Feb. 22, 2002, at his home.
He was born April 14, 1918, in Seattle to George and Golda (Rongey) Eyler. He was a 1936 graduate of Central Kitsap High School.
Mr. Eyler served in the Army from 1944 to 1946, achieving the rank of technical sergeant.
Following his military service, he was a tool and cutter grinder in Shop 06 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years. He later was a journeyman house painter for more than 30 years. He retired in 1999.
Mr. Eyler enjoyed the outdoors, cars and telling stories about old times.
Survivors include two sons, Larry D. and Steve D., both of Bremerton; a daughter, Barbara J. Lacy of Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, Glen of Bremerton; two sisters, Ruth Hanf of Bremerton and Jean Cooper of Sequim; and three grandchildren, Trina of Bremerton, and Cassie and Garrett, both of Little Rock.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Thursday, both at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Marge Raymaker
Margaret F. "Marge" Raymaker, 80, of Bremerton died of cancer Feb. 21, 2002, at her daughter's home in Bremerton.
She was born May 21, 1921, in Vancouver, British Columbia, to Percy and Elsie (Bingham) Miles. She graduated in 1939 from Garfield High School in Seattle.
She married
Constant "Bud" Raymaker Jr. on Oct. 3, 1942, in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Mrs. Raymaker enjoyed bowling and was active in the Women's International Bowling Congress. She also was active in REAC 2338 (Retired Eagles Activity Club) in Port Orchard, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Manette Community Church.
Her favorite pastimes included Bremerton community concerts, Bremerton Community Theatre productions, attending her grandchildren's various activities and watching Husky football games at her nephew's home.
Survivors include a son, Allan of Tacoma; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Dale Armstrong of Bremerton; four grandchildren, Tricia of Bremerton, Scott of Los Angeles, Sarah and her husband, Ray, of Merced, Calif., and Eric of Tacoma; a great-granddaughter, Candace of Merced; and nephews and nieces and their families.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Nelson of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Manette Community Church.

Howard Chapman
Howard G. Chapman, 77, of Port Orchard died Feb. 17, 2002, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bremerton.
He was born July 11, 1924, to Thomas and Alpha (Weisflogg) Chapman in Lead, S.D.
He graduated from Lead High School in 1942.
On Feb. 5, 1944, he married
the former Doris Hill.
Mr. Lead was a pipefitter in Shop 56 and a planner-estimator at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 33 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles and enjoyed bowling with the Port Orchard Merchants League.
In addition to his wife at the family home, survivors include two sons, Rick and Tom of Port Orchard; two daughters, Juanita "Susie" Chapman of Seattle and Kathy Chapman of Port Orchard; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. March 2 at Rill Chapel of Port Orchard with inurnment at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Doug Tyree
William "Doug" Tyree, 76, of Silverdale died Feb. 15, 2002, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
He was born June 19, 1925, in Mount Vernon, Ore., to Fred and Zedie (Premo) Tyree. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1943.
He served in the Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War, achieving the rank of corporal. He earned the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He had a 100 percent retirement from the Veterans Administration.
Mr. Tyree was known as a very private gentleman.
He was survived by nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Gordon, and by a sister, Fran Tyree.
A private family service will be held.

Clarence Watson
Clarence W. Watson, 70, of North Logan, Utah, died of pneumonia Feb. 18, 2002, in North Logan.
He was born Oct. 6, 1931, at Stillwater, Okla., to Lee and Gladys (Watson) Leiblie. He attended John C. Fremont High School in Los Angeles.
On Dec. 21, 1951, he married
Tona Faircloth in Los Angeles.
He served in the Navy in 1950 and 1951.
He worked as a sheetmetal mechanic at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 22 years, retiring in 1993.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Chris F. Watson of Port Orchard and Wayne Watson of North Logan; a daughter, Brenda Robertson of Logan, Utah; two brothers, Delbert Leiblie of Florida and James Leiblie of California; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
No services are planned.
Robert Hatfield
Robert H. Hatfield, 77, of Bremerton died Feb. 18, 2002, at his home.
He was born June 19, 1924, in Portland to Joseph and Irene (Gamp) Hatfield.
He married
Yvonne R. Chandler on Jan. 30, 1948, in Portsmouth, N.H.
He graduated from Bellingham High School and attended Union College in Schenactady, N.Y.
Mr. Hatfield served in the Navy submarine force from 1942 through 1965, advancing to the rank of senior chief petty officer. He received the Asiatic Pacific World War II Victory Medal and the Submarine Combat Insignia-American Theater Medal.
He later worked as an engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. His total combined federal service was 34 years. He retired in 1975.
Mr. Hatfield enjoyed bowling, spending time with his family, reading, singing and camping. He was also a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 239.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Ross Hatfield of Port Orchard, Thomas Viens of Waterford, Conn., Joe Hatfield of Silverdale, Richard Hatfield of Wapakeneta, Ohio, and Greg Kiem of Bellingham; a daughter, Elizabeth Pacheco of Bremerton; a brother, Richard M. Hatfield of Vista, Calif; a sister-in-law, Ruby Lee Hatfield of Vista, Calif; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Hatfield was preceded in death by a brother, Burke Hatfield.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at VFW Post 239, 190 S. Dora Ave., Bremerton.
His ashes will be scattered at sea.

Maxine Heiserman
Maxine Genevive Heiserman, 87, of Belfair died Feb. 15, 2002, in her home after suffering kidney failure.
Mrs. Heiser-man was born Nov. 1, 1914, in Starbuck to John and Vera (McClurken) Witherow.
She married
Robert Heiserman on May 17, 1958, in Port Angeles.
Mrs. Heiserman was a homemaker. She was a member of the Wranglers Horse Club in Forks. She enjoyed riding her horse Cherry and was active in Rebekahs and Grange in Forks.
She was also a member of the Belfair Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband, of Belfair; two daughters, Donna Hansen of Tucson, Ariz., and Marla Johnson of Belfair; a sister, Jerry Beebe of Lebanon, Ore.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a niece, great-niece, great-great-niece and two cousins. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Freemont "Tine" Maxfield, in 1957.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. March 2 at the Assembly of God Church in Forks. Private inurnment will follow at Forks cemetery.

Phyllis Ullin
Phyllis V. Ullin, 87, died Feb. 21, 2002, at Clearbrook Inn in Silverdale.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. March 1 at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton. A service will follow at noon.
Eldor Stenwick
Eldor E. Stenwick, 87, of Poulsbo died Feb. 20, 2002, at Martha & Mary Health Center in Poulsbo.
He was born Dec. 8, 1914, in a homestead shack at Fairchild, Mont., to Norwegian immigrants Kasper and Mattie (Iverson) Stenwick. He was educated in a one-room schoolhouse in Montana.
Mr. Stenwick worked in construction for several years, driving heavy equipment machinery.
He served in the Army during World War II. He later worked in Shop 51 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1973 after 26 years.
He married
Harriet Petrie on Feb. 16, 1961, in Silverdale.
Mr. Stenwick was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Poulsbo Sons of Norway and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include his wife; three stepsons, Terry Stenwick of Tukwila, Bruce Stenwick of Renton and Denis Stenwick of Poulsbo; and eight stepgrandchildren.
At his request, no services will be held.

Bess Wilson
Bess J. Wilson, 82, of Silverdale died Jan. 26, 2002, in Silverdale of natural causes.
She was born Jan. 26, 1920, in San Francisco to Joseph and Sophie (Dockal) Melichar.
She married
Bartley S. Wilson in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and records clerk for the U.S. government for 10 years. She retired in 1985.
She enjoyed traveling, bingo and friends.
She is survived by three sons, Bartley J. Wilson of Portland, Ore., Walter A. Wilson of Longview and Jeffrey T. Wilson of Silverdale; two brothers, Hank Melichar of Kennewick and Joe Melichar of New Mexico; a sister, Blanche Wynne of Bremerton; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Tierney.
A remembrance ceremony will be from 1 to 3 p.m. March 9 at the Silver Spurs Saddle Club Clubhouse, 8000 Nels Nelson Road.
