George L. McLean
George L. McLean, 79, of Keyport died Jan. 26, 2002, at Ridgemont Terrace Nursing Home in Port Orchard.
He was born April 18, 1922, in Camas, to George C. and Mary Margaret (Brentner) McLean.
He attended Seattle University and Reed College in Portland, Ore.
He joined the Navy in 1942 and served until 1954, achieving the rank of petty officer third class. He was awarded an Air Medal with five stars and a European-African-Middle East Area Campaign Medal with one star.
After leaving the Navy, he worked as the chief editor of technical publications at Keyport before his retirement.
Mr. McLean was a lifetime member of Mensa and a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Interment will be at the Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Lewis Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Frances Crump
Frances Butler Crump, 84, of Bremerton died of cancer Feb. 17, 2002, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Sept. 13, 1917, in Bellingham to Frank and Christine (Abild) Pelegren. She attended schools in Bellingham and graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in education.
She married
Kenneth Butler in 1941. He died in 1964. In 1968, she married
Albert Crump. He preceded her in death in 1992.
She taught school, worked as a librarian and social worker and taught piano from her home while her children were growing up.
She was active in several Masonic organizations, including Olympic Chapter 216 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Amaranth. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Fred Butler of Bremerton; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Garry Mahan of Port Orchard; a sister, Patricia Rice of Seattle; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Edgar Burleson
Edgar Lee Burleson, 89, of Port Orchard died of Alzheimer's disease Feb. 17, 2002, at Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born July 18, 1912, in Paul's Valley, Okla., to Rufus and Bertha Jane Burleson.
He married
Gladys Dixon on March 27, 1934. She preceded him in death
Feb. 10, 1984. He married
his second wife, Regina Phelps, on April 17, 1985.
He was a logger, Christmas tree farmer and private contractor in Kitsap County since 1950.
He is survived by a son, Richard "Dick" of Port Orchard; two daughters, Dona Adams of Roundup, Mont., and Dixie Scahel of Des Moines, Wash.; two stepsons, Michael Phelps of California and Steven Phelps of Poulsbo; four stepdaughters, Mary Ann Barrett of Port Orchard, Regina Metcalf of Ephrata, Delores Baldwin of Port Orchard and Kelly Rogers of Montesano; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Hike Shea, in 1984.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Baptist Church in Port Orchard.

Pauline Troka
Pauline Troka, 70, of Hansville died Feb. 13, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of James and Cecelia (Belheumer) Wendell. She graduated from Cudahy (Wis.) High School in 1950.
She was married
to Jerry W. Troka on Jan. 26, 1952, in Cudahy. She was an executive secretary and a nanny. The couple moved to Hansville in 1979. Mrs. Troka was a member of the Hansville Garden Club and the Kingston Friends of the Library.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Paul of Concrete, Pete of Edmonds, and Dave and Jerry, both of Kingston; a daughter, Jean Ferguson of Kenmore; two brothers, Dennis Wendell of Florida and James Wendell of Oregon; three sisters, Edith Feeley of Florida, Bernie Barwick of Wisconsin and Carol Jolitz; and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Kingston Christian Church.

Thomas Bowers
Former Poulsbo resident Thomas Andrews Bowers, 31, died of brain cancer Feb. 12, 2002, in New York City.
He was born July 9, 1970, in Haverhill, Mass., to Fred F. and Anna C. (Parziale) Bowers.
He graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1988. He later graduated from the University of Washington and the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He was an architect in New York City, and designed his parents' current home in Sequim while he was a student at UW.
He married
San Keum Koh on Aug. 25, 2001, in Brooklyn.
Survivors include his wife of Brooklyn; his parents of Sequim; a brother, Earl Bowers of Silverdale; and a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Darci Bowers of Eagle River, Alaska.
An open house to celebrate Mr. Bowers' life will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the home of his parents in Sequim.

Shirley Benton, 49, of Bremerton died Feb. 11, 2002, at her home from a pulmonary embolism.

Robert James "Bob" Iverson, 50, of Bremerton died of liver and kidney failure Feb. 16, 2002, in Harrison Hospital.
He was born Dec. 4, 1951, at Port Angeles to Ellen Marie (Jensen) and Robert O. Iverson. He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1970.
On Aug. 15, 1981, he married
Mary McKenzie in Bremerton.
He worked as a systems technician for the phone company for 30 years. He was a union activist with the Communications Workers of America Local 7803, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife; his parents of Aberdeen; a son, Jeff, and a daughter, Jill, both of Bremerton; a brother, Ron of Aberdeen; and a sister, Pam of Aberdeen. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation & Burial Society.

Dessima Weyer
Dessima Lois Weyer, 85, of Port Orchard died Feb. 14, 2002, at Port Orchard Care Center.
She was born Aug. 11, 1916, in Baker, Ore., to Daniel and Sabina (Ireland) Sutton.
She married
Percy Albert Weyer on Dec. 18, 1933, in LaGrande, Ore. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 2000.
Mrs. Weyer was a homemaker. Her interests included cooking, sewing, gardening, crocheting, doll collecting and dollmaking.
She was a member of the Salvation Army.
Survivors include four sons, Norman A. of Naples, Idaho, Marvin G. of Grandview, Jack R. of Goldendale and Donald A. of Grand Coulee; two daughters, Shirley A. Ross and Nancy Brotzel, both of Port Orchard; two brothers, Ted Sutton of Florida and David Sutton of Montana; a sister, Dorothy Postlewait of Newport, Ore.; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Sutton, and four sisters, Jean Robanske, Velva Johnson, Juanita June and Kay Rohrbaugh.
A memorial service, to be shared with her late husband, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.

Nick Cabalo
Nick T. Cabalo, 91, of Port Orchard died Feb. 17, 2002, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.
He was born Oct. 29, 1910, in the Philippine Islands to Francisco and Juliana (Aquino) Cabalo.
He moved to Kitsap County in 1946 and worked as a berry farmer in Port Orchard. He retired in 1965.
He married
Leonila T. Casila on Nov. 18, 1964, in the Philippine Islands.
He was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Santa Maria, Seattle Chapter; the Fil-Am Community of Kitsap County; the Pacific Northwest chapter of Ilocandia, Kitsap County; and the Legionario del Trabajo, Kitsap County. He also was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of Port Orchard; a daughter and son-in-law, Jessie and Mike Wadsworth of Gig Harbor; and a grandchild, Ashley Wadsworth of Gig Harbor.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, followed by recitation of a rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Interment
will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Lois Dejmal
Lois A. Dejmal, 84, of Bremerton died Feb. 16, 2002, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Oct. 4, 1917, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Lois (Arthur) Nelson and Frances Jonas. She graduated from high school in Sioux City in 1934.
On Sept. 4, 1948, she married
Jim Dejmal in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1978.
She was a member of Young Ladies Institute and the Altar Society, both through Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafts and bowling.
A rosary will be said at noon, with a memorial Mass at 1 p.m. Both are today at Holy Trinity.
