Richard Cordova
Richard Lloyd Cordova, 64, of Port Orchard died of multiple myelomas Feb. 16, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 27, 1937, in Raton, N.M., to Emelio and Anne M. (Cardenas) Cordova. He graduated from Raton High School in 1955 and attended New Mexico State College in Las Cruces, N.M.
He served in the Air Force from 1959 to 1979, retiring as a major. He later worked as a program analyst at CSC Computing and P.W.S. at Keyport, retiring after 15 years in 2000.
On Oct. 7, 1961, he married
Linda Joyce Bowden in North Highlands, Calif.
He was a member of the Bremerton Elks Lodge, the Elks Travel Club and The Retired Officers Association.
Survivors include his wife; his son, Richard L. Cordova Jr. and his wife Michelle; two daughters, Ann E. Wilson and her husband Ken, and Tina Whitney and her husband Daryl, both of Port Orchard; a brother, Robert L. Cordova of Spokane; and six grandchildren, Lindsey and David McKay, Carina and Anita Cordova, and Alissa and Austin Wilson.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Darold Williams
Darold Francis Williams, 64, of Kingston died of leukemia on Feb. 16, 2002, at his home.
He was born Feb. 15, 1938, in Fisher, Ill., to Woodrow Darold and Terrell Francis (Leach) Williams. He attended Gibson High School in Gibson City, Ill.
He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1965, advancing to the rank of second class petty officer as an air traffic controlman. Later, he became a barber, retiring in 2000 after 17 years.
On Dec. 15, 1956, he married
Germaine "Jeri" Pulaski in Westville, Ill.
He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel of Kent and Robert of Millville, N.J.; four daughters, Debra Weatherly of Pismo Beach, Calif., Teresa Whitmire of Quanah, Texas, Kathleen Cox of Bremerton, and Tina of Kingston; a sister, Jeannie Nelson of Iowa Park, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kingston Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Matt Borgen Jr.
Former Kitsap County resident Manfred "Matt" Raymond Borgen Jr., 62, of McCleary died Feb. 17, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Jan. 29, 1940, to Evelyn Ione (Nelson) and Manfred Raymond Borgen Sr. He graduated from Bainbridge Island High School in 1958.
He worked at Bremerton Fire Department for 14 years and then Bailey Motor Inn in Olympia, retiring in 2001 after 16 years.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his companion, Alice Manley of Manchester, and two sons, Greg and his wife Cindy of Bainbridge Island and Gary of Reno. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Arlene Kay, in 1967.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rill Chapel, 1151 Mitchell Ave. in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Joshua Isley
Former Silverdale resident Joshua Michael Isley, 21, of Graham died Feb. 15, 2002, in Kirkland.
He was born Aug. 29, 1980, in Ogallala, Neb. to Michael and Cheryl Isley.
He graduated from Olympic High School in 1999 and attended Shoreline Community College.
He was a member of the Silverdale Baptist Church.
He is survived by his parents; a sister, Sarah Thorsteinson and her husband, Brad; a nephew, Noah Bradley Thorsteinson; and grandfather, Darold Priesner of Ogallala.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Silverdale Baptist Church.
He will be interred in Tacoma. Arrangements are by Gaffrey Cassedy Allen and Buckley King Funeral Home of Tacoma.

Katy Warner
Memorial services for Katy Warner of Bainbridge Island, who died Jan. 12, 2002, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island. A reception will follow at Conger Hall.

David Bush
David B. Bush, 48, of Belfair died Feb. 15, 2002, at home.
He was born Oct. 18, 1953, in Pendleton, Ore., to Dean and Marge (Albee) Bush.
He graduated from Kennewick High School in Washington in 1971, from Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton in 1977 and from Oregon State University in Corvallis in 1981.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1975, achieving the rank of Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class and receiving a letter of commendation for meritorious action.
Mr. Bush was an engineer at Mare Island in Vallejo, Calif., and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years.
He married
Valerie (Logue) Bush Dec. 10, 1988, in Marquam, Ore.
He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and enjoyed watching the Seattle Mariners and the OSU Beavers football team.
He attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Belfair.
Mr. Bush is survived by his wife; his parents in Hermiston, Ore.; son Nathan Bush of Belfair; daughter Nicole Bush of Belfair; brothers Larry Bush of Salem, Ore., and Randy Bush of Hermiston.
Visitation will be today from noon to 5 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rill Chapel.
A memorial mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church and he will be inurned at Willamette National cemetery in Oregon. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.
Marie McKernan
Former Bremerton resident Marie Aleda McKernan, 89, of Portland, Ore., died Feb. 8, 2002, of Alzheimer's disease in Tualatin, Ore.
She was born Dec. 8, 1912, in Seattle to Henry and Caroline (Jacobsen) Mathiesen.
She married
Ralph McKernan on April 5, 1933, in Seattle. He died in 1992.
Mrs. McKernan enjoyed gardening and homemaking.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole Karrigan of Scappoose, Ore., and Sharon Paget of Portland; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Neva Branson
Neva Branson, 85, of Bremerton died Feb. 5, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Dec. 8, 1916, in Lewiston, Idaho, to James and Violet (Baxter) Drever. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle in 1934.
She had worked as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone in Seattle for eight years and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 13 years. She retired from PSNS in 1981.
She enjoyed the companionship of her cat, Baby. Other interests were gardening, reading, sewing and swimming.
She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ted Dennis of Bremerton, and her sister, Margery Bernheisel of Seattle.
At the family's request, no services will be held. Instead, those who wish to honor Neva Branson's memory may do so by performing a kind deed, thinking a kind thought or planting a flower. She was known for her love of plants and her kindness.

Bertie Gay
Bertie Whitson Gay, 86, of Bremerton died Feb. 13, 2002, at Harmony Adult Family Home in Bremerton.
She was born Aug. 8, 1915, in Micaville, N.C., to John and Mollie Whitson.
She married
Ralph Gay on Feb. 23, 1935, in Johnson City, Tenn. He died in 1987.
A homemaker, Mrs. Gay had also had a long career as a professional manicurist.
She had lived in Florida, Michigan and Texas before moving to Bremerton to be near her daughter. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, having been affiliated with churches in Lincoln Park, Mich., and in Largo, Fla., for a total of 30 years.
Survivors include a son, Phillip and his wife Barbara of Sandy Pines, Mich.; a daughter, Joyce Barry and her husband Dan of Silverdale; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and special friends Joyce and Phillip Carlson of San Antonio, Texas.
A graveside service is planned for 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at Michigan Memorial Park Mortuary in Flat Rock, Mich. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Carroll Ebersole
Carroll T. Ebersole, 76, of Poulsbo, died
Feb. 11, 2002, at Martha and Mary Health Center in Poulsbo.
He was born May 1, 1925, in Sydney, Mont., to Carroll Edgar and Amalia (Rasmussen) Ebersole.
Mr. Ebersole served in the South Pacific with the Navy during World War II. Following his military service, he returned to college and, in 1950, received his degree in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University.
He worked with the Department of Agriculture and later owned and operated a family farm in the Columbia Basin near Ephrata. His mechanical engineering ability led him to the aerospace industry and employment with The Boeing Co.
Moving to Kitsap County from Seattle, Mr. Ebersole spent the last 15 years of his career with Lockheed at SWFPAC (Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific) on Naval Submarine Base Bangor, involved with the Trident missile program. He retired in 1991.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife Vivian in their RV. Other interests included camping, fishing, hunting and all sports.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, David of Fontana, Calif., Gary of San Francisco, Scott of Minneapolis and Jeffrey of Seabeck; five daughters, Kathleen Eaton of Yakima, Susan Ebersole of Yuma, Ariz., Sherrie Joenks of Poulsbo, Lisa Ebersole of Merced, Calif., and Carla Kerns of Lynden; two brothers, Warren "Rusty" Ebersole of Bend, Ore., and Robert Ebersole of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; two sisters, Janice Cromwell of Covina, Calif., and Sharon Kautzman of Billings, Mont.; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A family gathering to celebrate Mr. Ebersole's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Kass Funeral Home, Bainbridge Island.
Louis Pinter
Louis A. Pinter, 86, of Bremerton died Feb. 13, 2002, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 12, 1915, in South Bend, Ind., to George and Katie (Pinkie) Pinter.
He married
Alice Watland. She died in 1984.
Mr. Pinter served in the Navy from 1937 to 1960, achieving the rank of chief boatswain's mate. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation.
Following his military career, he worked 20 years with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) until his retirement.
Mr. Pinter was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Connie Pinter and Jim Garland of Keyport. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Pinter and George Pinter Jr.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
