Elizabeth Yuhl
Elizabeth Yuhl, 91, of Bremerton died Feb. 10, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born Dec. 21, 1910, in Portland, Ore., to Arthur and Grace (McFarland) Backer. She was a 1928 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Seattle.
She married
Andrew Yuhl on Feb. 19, 1931, in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Mrs. Yuhl was office manager for R.S. Hayward Insurance Co. in Bremerton for 13 years.
She enjoyed gardening, bridge, skiing and traveling.
Survivors include a son, Nathan, and his wife, Lois, of Bremerton; a sister, Kay Hatch of Puyallup; and two grandsons.

Donald Divine
Donald D. Divine, 79, of Bainbridge Island died Feb. 11, 2002, at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle.
He was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Minneapolis to Allen and Pearl (Chandler) Divine.
He married
Betty June Larrabee on Sept. 4, 1942, in Port Angeles, where they made their home and founded the Peninsula Herald newspaper in conjunction with his wife's family.
In 1947, the couple moved to Seattle. Mr. Divine was a Bainbridge Island resident since 1958, when he and his family moved to the area.
He served in the Army Air Corps as a pilot during World War II and retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a lieutenant colonel.
He managed the L&H Printing Co. and later established L&H Engraving Co. in Seattle until retiring. He was an avid golfer and a past president of Wing Point Golf and Country Club (where he once shot a hole in one).
Beginning in 1965, Mr. Divine served as a Bainbridge Island Fire Commissioner for 12 years.
His wife preceded him in death in 1990. He is survived by a son, James, and his wife, Jean, of Bainbridge Island.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Port Madison Lutheran Church on Bainbridge Island. Burial will follow at Hillcrest cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home on Bainbridge Island.
Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Al Shopshire
Al Shopshire, 61, of Manchester died Feb. 9, 2002, in Manchester.
He was born Oct. 2, 1940.
Survivors include a son, Adam of Noblesville, Ind.; a daughter, Wendy Day of Puyallup; a brother, Fred of Manchester; a sister, Judy Wise of Rocklin, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Jarrett, Alex, Gillian and Gracie.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. today at McCormick Woods in Port Orchard. Arrangements are by Kitsap Cremation & Burial Society.

Pearl Lenhart
Pearl Etta Lenhart, 80, of Kingston died Feb. 12, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born June 21, 1921, in Dickinson, N.D., to Nathaniel and Gladys (Webster) Gibson. She graduated from Dickinson High School and had attended Dickinson State Teachers College.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and teaching Sunday school. She was a member of Kingston Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Lenhart; a son, Dan Lenhart of Long Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Robbie Dowers of Poulsbo and Edie Wiley of San Diego; a sister, Edith Donnis of Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Kingston Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.

Evelyn Hunter
Evelyn Hunter, 70, of Bremerton died Feb. 2, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born March 10, 1931, in Oregon.
She married
Robert Hunter. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Survivors include three sons, Charles of Texas and Johnny and Terry, both of Bremerton; three daughters, Judy Wilson of Texas, Penny Fitch of Arizona and Tina Hunter of Puyallup; two brothers, Johnny Mills of Tennessee and Jake Mills of Texas; a sister, Fay Danielson of Bremerton; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are private.
Anna Johnson
Anna Johnson, 90, of Bremerton died Feb. 10, 2002, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born Oct. 11, 1911, in Calumet, Mich., to Kalle and Kaisa Maria (Niskanen) Piirainen. She graduated from Roslyn High School in 1929.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and listening to the radio.
Survivors include two sons, Art Johnson and his wife Nancy of Bremerton and Robert Feyko of Bothell; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arttu, Lauri and John Piirainen; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Johnson.
At the family's request, no services will be held. Cremation is by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Nora Niemi
Nora M. Niemi, 93, of Bremerton, formerly of Alder and Mineral, died of pneumonia Jan. 22, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Dec. 13, 1908, in Beacher City, Ill., to Oral V. and Bitha (Lyster) Smith.
She married
Benjamin V. Niemi. He preceded her in death in 1972.
Mrs. Niemi was a member of a garden club and volunteered with the 4-H Club when her children were members.
Survivors include eight grandchildren, Glen Walls of Poulsbo, Bob Walls of Port Orchard, Nancy Smith of Kingston, Sue Peterson of Poulsbo, Tom Walls of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, David and Mike Sweazy and Jennie Jacobi, all of Mineral; two nieces, Loretta Kenney of Long Beach, Miss., and Betty Poe of Effingham, Ill.; two nephews, Benny and Lyle Haney, both of Effingham; 24 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her children, Phyllis Eileen Walls and William Sweazy.
No services will be held. Arrangements by Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
Becky Eldridge
Becky Ann Eldridge, 62, of Kingston died Feb. 10, 2002, in Kingston.
She was born May 26, 1939, in Port Angeles to Emeral and Helen (Osier) Boden.
She married
Jimmie C. Eldridge on June 2, 1983, in Kingston.
Mrs. Eldridge was a eral estate appraiser. She enjoyed fishing and art.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Gary Bauer; a daughter, Amy Mekalsen; two stepsons, Hans and Jimmie W. Eldridge, and their wives, Lisa and Dawn; a grandson, Jaden; three stepgrandsons, Hans, Nicholas and Matthew; and a niece, Cherie and her husband, Mike "Bear" Rogers, and their daughters, Maria and Amanda Rogers. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kay Franklin.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at The Stone Chapel, followed by a committal service at Kingston cemetery.

Jean Ries
Jean Helga Ries, 84, of Port Orchard died Feb. 12, 2002, at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard.
She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Conway to Richard and Eugenia (Engman) Lundberg. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1935 and later from business college in Seattle.
She married
Clyde A. Ries on Sept. 14, 1940, in Mount Vernon. Mrs. Ries was a homemaker.
She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Elim Lutheran Church in Port Orchard and a past member of the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Richard C. of Salem, Ore.; and a daughter, Diana Picknell of Seattle.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. A memorial service follows at Elim Lutheran Church.

Genevieve Snively
Genevieve May Snively, 68, of Silverdale died Feb. 9, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Feb. 17, 1933, in Portland, Ore., to Raymond C. and Liela May (Dobbs) Ziesing. She graduated from Portland's Franklin High School in 1950.
She married
Virgil Howard Snively on Nov. 26, 1950, in Portland.
Mrs. Snively was retired from positions with the federal government as a voucher examiner at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center at Keyport and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. She received a number of awards for her work.
She was a member of Alpha Beta Kappa.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Timothy and his wife, Traci, of Kingston and Eric Snively of Silverdale; a daughter, Karen Titterness and her companion, Bob Dickinson, of Kingston; a brother, Ron Ziesing of Ravensdale; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Terence "Terry."
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Christian Life Center in Port Orchard.

Ocella White
Ocella Christine White, 82, of Bremerton died Feb. 8, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Stillwater County, Okla., to Jesse O. and Emma Lou (Lakey) Petty.
She married
Jacob W. White in 1935 in Stillwater County. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. White enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jean White; a brother, Kenneth Ray Petty of Yakima; two sisters, Genevieve Deloris Livengood and Ann Ruth Marts; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy L. Damlo, Thelma M. Maham, Shirley M. Baker and Sherry J. Low; two brothers, Jesse D. and Clifford L. Petty; and two daughters, Betty Lou Callwell and Virginia C. Gold.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3414 Ninth St., Bremerton.
John Probert
Former Silverdale resident John Probert, 49, of Shelton died Feb. 12, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Oct. 8, 1952, in Puyallup to Clement and Olga (Lee) Probert. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1970.
He married
Toni Sundstrom on Sept. 29, 1973, in Bremerton.
Mr. Probert worked in the welding supply sales industry for 21 years. He had been employed for the past two years by Pacific Welding Supply in Gorst.
He enjoyed traveling and photography.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Aaron of Port Townsend; two brothers, Rolly of Yuma, Ariz., and Jim of Brownsville; a sister, Jean Laird of Graham; nine nieces; and eight nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
