Gloria La Forte
Gloria La Forte, 66, of Bremerton died Dec. 11, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 18, 1932, in Springfield, Mass., to Mary C. Jasmin. She was raised and educated in Massachusetts.
On Dec. 5, 1952, she married
Henry E. LaForte in Hartford, Conn.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Susan Pounds and Cindy Wheeler, both of Groton, Conn., and Tina Harrison of Spring Hope, N.C.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael.
No service is scheduled.

Janice Ashenbrenner
Janice Rae Ashenbrenner, 69, of Port Orchard died Dec. 10, 1998, at Oyster Bay Health Care Center of cancer.
She was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Chicago. She was raised and educated in the Chicago area, graduating from high school in 1946.
Mrs. Ashenbrenner was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Stephen Wagner of Sacramento, Calif.; and one grandchild, Jason Wagner of Sacramento. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marc Ashenbrenner; and a son, Scott Wagner.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 19 at Rill Chapel.
Interment at Sunset Lane cemetery following the service.

Alvin Cox Jr.
Alvin "Gene" Cox Jr., 72, of Grayland died Dec. 13, 1998, at Ridgemont Terrace of cancer.
He was born Oct. 31, 1926, in Yuba City, Calif., to Alvin and Ina Mae (Baker) Cox. He was raised in the Bay area of California.
On Jan. 3, 1962, he married
Louise Beach. She preceded him in death in 1987.
Mr. Cox served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 aboard various ships as well as shore stations. He received the Asiatic Pacific Medal, the Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal. He later worked in the trucking services industry from 1946 to 1987.
He was a member of the VFW in Grayland, post commander for three years and chaplain for one year at the American Legion in Grayland, member of the Masonic Lodge in California, and the Moose Lodge in Grayland.
Survivors include a daughter, Ramona Fisher of Port Orchard; a sister, Betty Jane of Woodburn, Ore.; and two grandchildren, Laura and Ruth Fisher, both of Port Orchard.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 16 at Rill Chapel. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 151 Tremont W., Port Orchard.

Russell Noerenberg Sr.
Russell William Noerenberg Sr., 84, of Port Orchard died Dec. 13, 1998, at Port Orchard Care Center of cancer.
He was born June 11, 1914, in Powell, S.D., to William and Caroline (Muffat) Noerenberg. He was raised in South Dakota, Illinois, the Orient and Washington. He attended high schools in Colville and Spokane.
On Nov. 12, 1943, he married
Frances Stoudt in Seattle.
Mr. Noerenberg worked for the past 10 years as an electrician foreman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of the IBEW, the Masonic Lodge in Port Orchard, the Scottish Rite, past president of the Kitsap County Shrine Club and was a past director for Washington State Babe Ruth.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Russell (Bill) Jr. of Port Orchard; a daughter, Dolores (Dee Dee) McKinnan of Port Orchard; and four grandchildren, Jeremy and Brandice Noerenberg, both of Seattle and Lindsey and Kyle McKinnon, both of Port Orchard. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 17 at Rill Chapel. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Joe Hoppe
Joe R. Hoppe, 65, of Bremerton died Dec. 12, 1998, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center, from complications of pneumonia.
He was born June 20, 1933, in De Smet, S.D., to Fred and Mary (Renner) Hoppe. He was raised and educated in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1951.
Mr. Hoppe worked in the ad services department at The Sun for 30 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the B.P.O.E. No. 1181, F.O.E. No. 192, Our Lady Star of the Sea and Holy Trinity Parish.
Survivors include a sister, Caroline Payton of Bremerton; one nephew, Tim Payton of Bremerton; and two nieces, Dawn Payton of Tillicum and Debbie Cox of Woodinville.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Belmont Terrace Garden Room.

Betty Jo Tibbetts
Betty Jo Tibbetts, 66, of Bremerton died Dec. 11, 1998, in Bellevue.
She was born May 13, 1932, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Robert and Ruby (Buxton) Russell. She was raised in Vallejo, Calif., graduating from Vallejo High School in 1948.
On June 29, 1951, she married
Lawrence Tibbetts in Vallejo, Calif.
Mrs. Tibbetts was a lifelong homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Larry of Bremerton; a daughter, Vickie of Bremerton; a sister, Maxine Oppie of Pascagoula, Miss.; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 15 at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Orra Ferate
Orra H. Ferate, 83, of Port Orchard died Dec. 12, 1998, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was raised and educated in Ohio. She graduated from Western Reserve University in 1935. She received her master's degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1970.
On Feb. 4, 1937, she married
Fred D. Ferate in Ripley, N.Y. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. Ferate worked as a school teacher for 22 years at Olalla Elementary School, retiring in 1977.
She was a volunteer for the Literacy Council.
Survivors include five sons, Fred of Washington, D.C., Michael, James and Vincent, all of Bremerton, and Justin of New York; two daughters, Barbara Evans of Port Orchard and Celia of Baltimore; a brother, Paul Holtz of Cleveland, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Holtz; a son, John; and two grandchildren, Mario and Brandon.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Delores Ruddell
Delores "Dee" Ruddell, 58, of Port Orchard died Dec. 13, 1998, at Northwoods Lodge of natural causes.
She was born May 31, 1940, in Oklahoma City to Robert and Alma (Cohn) Rochell. She was raised in Oklahoma City. She later graduated from Compton High School in Compton, Calif.
On Oct. 15, 1960, she married
Thomas Ruddell in San Diego.
Mrs. Ruddell worked for 20 years at First Interstate Bank branches in Bremerton and Seattle, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of the women's slow pitch softball league in Kitsap County and the Women's Auxiliary, VFW No. 4992, in Silverdale.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Michael of Silverdale and Christopher of Seattle; a brother, Joel Rochell of Las Vegas; and one grandchild, Kye Thomas Ruddell of Eugene, Ore.

Billy Kadlecek
Billy Jim Kadlecek, 65 of Port Ludlow died at Jefferson General Hospital in Port Townsend on Dec. 11, 1998.
He was born in La Grange, Texas, on July 7, 1933, and married
Mable L. Halvorson on July 2, 1955 in Fairbanks, Alaska.
After service with the Army in the Korean conflict, he worked for 30 years as a machine tender at the Port Townsend Paper Corp. paper mill, retiring in 1987.
He is survived by his wife; sons Billy Jo and Randy, both of Poulsbo; daughters Diane Kadlecek of Arlington, Va., and JoDee Kadlecek of Port Ludlow; brothers Louis and Gene, both of Houston, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. at Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend. Burial will be a Shine cemetery near Port Ludlow.
