Edgar McMillen
Edgar Leroy McMillen, 81, known both as Mac and Ed, formerly of Poulsbo, died Dec. 10, 1998, in Peoria, Ariz.
He was born April 27, 1917, in Rosedale, Kan., to Clara and Edgar McMillen, and graduated from high school there in 1935.
He married
Mabel Gunderson in Hawaii on Sept. 13, 1941, and nearly three months later, he was present at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked.
He left the Navy in 1956 as chief petty officer, then went to work at Keyport in quality engineering.
He retired in 1973, then lost his wife in 1977. He remarried
in 1980 and he and his second wife, Marie, lived in Sun City, Ariz.
He is survived by his wife; his son Michael of Port Angeles; his daughter, Lonnie Swanson of Poulsbo; brothers George of California and Jim of Florida; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Two grandsons preceded him in death.
He was active in the First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo.
Private family services will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Jerry Abercrombie
Gerald "Jerry" Abercrombie, 63, of Poulsbo died in Pahrump, Nev., on Dec. 3, 1998.
He was born March 22, 1935, in Whittier, Calif. He married
Pauline Mueller in Arlington, Wash., during 20 years in the Navy. She preceded him in death.
He moved with his family to Poulsbo in 1973 and worked for Coast Oyster Co. for 10 years as a manager. He left Coast to begin his own business, North End Refrigeration.
He was a member of Rotary and Sons of Norway in Poulsbo. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of Poulsbo; a son Gary of Oak Harbor; a daughter Melanie of Belfair; a stepson, Bill of Bellingham; stepdaughter Shari of Bainbridge Island; and five grandchildren.
There will be a gathering in his memory at the Sons of Norway in Poulsbo on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m.
Orval 'Tracy' Gooden
Orval "Tracy" Gooden, 85, of Poulsbo, died Dec. 9, 1998, in Bremerton.
He was born to Merle and Florence (Richardson) Gooden on July 29, 1913, in Everett and was raised there.
He was a welder in Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 34 years, retiring in 1973. Prior to that job, he was a pilot for the U.S. Mail in California and worked for Standard Oil overseas in Aruba.
His wife, Kathleen, whom he married
on Oct. 1, 1960, died in 1996.
He is survived by sons Dennis Gooden and Dennis and Randy Stitzer, all of Poulsbo, and Michael Gooden of Seattle; daughters Deanna Harster of Poulsbo, Linda Hegarty of Kingston and Jackie Brockman of Bremerton; a sister, Geraldine Hertz; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A sister, Jackie Hertz, died previously.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel, 22272 Foss Road, on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Verda Kitzmiller
Verda Audrey Kitzmiller, 66, of Port Angeles died Dec. 10, 1998, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
She was born Nov. 20, 1932, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to LeRoy and Audrey Bradley. She was raised in Butte, Mont., and moved to Port Orchard at age 7. She later attended a floral design college.
On July 30, 1977, she married
Karl Kitzmiller in Port Orchard.
Mrs. Kitzmiller owned and operated Whitehead Evergreens in Belfair. She moved to Forks, where she established Sol Duc Floral Greens with her husband, retiring in 1997 after 48 years.
She was a member of the Mormon Church.
Survivors include her husband; six sons, Brad Schauer of Port Orchard, Greg Schauer of Coos Bay, Ore., Blake Whitehead of Union, Blaine Whitehead, Martin Kitzmiller of Kalispel, Mont., and John Smalley of Centralia; four daughters, Wendy Schauer of Bremerton, Janet Watmough of Alberta, Canada, Monica Kerutis of Big Fork, Mont., and Krysta Arnold of North Carolina; two sisters, Thora Minton of Port Orchard and Elsie Hansen of Allyn; 21 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Marty Schauer.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 13 at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 14, also at Rill Chapel. Interment
will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.

Esther Hickerson
Esther (Juddy) M. Hickerson, 80, of Poulsbo died Dec. 2, 1998, of emphysema at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 23, 1918, in Spokane to Edward and Esther Murphy. She was raised in Seattle, graduating from Franklin High School in 1936. She later attended the University of Washington.
Survivors include a daughter, Claudia Moter of Poulsbo; a sister, Mary Benham of Lacey; and a grandchild, Kurt Moter of Poulsbo.
No services are scheduled.

Robert Davis
Robert O'Neil Davis, 88, of Silverdale died Dec. 10, 1998.
He was born Sept. 23, 1910, in Post City, Texas, to Oscar and Georgia (Reed) Davis. He was raised in Colinton, Alberta, Canada. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1928.
On Nov. 2, 1935, he married
Gladys Davis in Seattle. She preceded him in death in 1992.
Mr. Davis worked as a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 30 years, retiring in 1960. He then worked for Smith School as a janitor, retiring in 1970.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Bremerton and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include a son, Clifford Williams of Marysville, Calif.; four daughters, Roberta Berg of Silverdale, Dorothy Schneider of Chula Vista, Calif., G.G. Dison of Port Orchard and Tillie Warren of Vancouver, Wash.; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a son, Bill Williams, and a daughter, Margie Haight.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 15, also at Miller Woodlawn.
Paddy Wadsworth
Paddy Ann Wadsworth, 69, of Belfair died Dec. 10, 1998, of cancer at her home.
She was born in Portland, Ore., and raised in the Tacoma area, graduating from Stadium High School.
On April 6, 1974, she married
Joel Wadsworth.
She worked as a waitress and bartender in the Tacoma area.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Steven Haggard; a stepson, Darren Wadsworth; a sister, Diane Ihlen; eight grandchildren, Gina, Tony, Paddy, Troy, Sara, Chad, Lars and Conner; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Mark, James and Richard Haggard.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 15 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel in Tacoma.

Lois Fuller
Longtime Kitsap County resident Lois Ann Fuller, 68, died Dec. 9, 1998.
She was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Gig Harbor.
Mrs. Fuller was a retired grocery store checker and a member of the Ramblin Eagles of Port Orchard and the Port Orchard Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Francis Fuller of Gig Harbor; a son, Rick of Gig Harbor; three daughters, Lynnette Payson of Allyn and Jannelle Brothers and Rochelle Roberts, both of Port Orchard; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 14 at Haven of Rest Chapel in Gig Harbor. Interment
will be at Haven of Rest.
Steven McCullough
Steven David McCullough, 49, of Bremerton died Dec. 9, 1998.
He was born July 12, 1949, in Bremerton to Edwin and June (Willis) McCullough. He was raised and educated in Bremerton, graduating from East High School in 1967. He later attended Central Washington University in 1972.
On Aug. 3, 1985, he married
Lisa E. Wilson at the First Christian Church in Bremerton.
Mr. McCullough worked as a pipefitter training leader at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 23 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; his father and stepmother, Edwin and Olive of Bremerton; a son, Jacob of the family home; a daughter, Rachel of the family home; and two brothers, Michael of Belfair and Richard of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his mother.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Dec. 12 at First Christian Church, 811 Veneta Ave., Bremerton.
