Gladys Myhre
Gladys E. Myhre, 84, of Port Orchard died April 25, 2002, at Harrison Hospital after a long illness.
She was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Havre, Mont., to John and Signe (Goosdahl) Myhre. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1936.
She married
Helmer Lillehei. He died in 1963.
She was an electrician assistant at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1982.
She enjoyed dancing and golf.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Gilgan of Buckley and John Gilgan of Black Diamond; a daughter, Janet Manning of Port Orchard; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lillehei; and a daughter, Jolene Hutchinson.
A celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m. May 4 in the banquet room at Myhre's Restaurant on Bay Street in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Edna Lemmon
Edna R. Lemmon, 86, of Port Orchard died April 25, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Sept. 10, 1915, in Burton, Neb., to Harry and LeFlore (Quinn) Riggs. She graduated from high school in Patagonia, Ariz., in 1933.
She married
Earl A. Lemmon Jr. on May 16, 1935, in Patagonia. He died in 1993.
Mrs. Lemmon was a homemaker. She enjoyed making candy, sewing and knitting.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Port Orchard.
Survivors include a daughter, Bette L. Hillner of Virginia; four grandchildren, Kari Trogdon of Port Orchard, Leslie Hodgson of Gilbert, Ariz., Curtis Hillner of Gilbert, Ariz., and Russell Hillner of Sandy, Utah; and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Alice Merrill
Alice M. Merrill, 71, of Bremerton died of cancer April 23, 2002, in Suquamish.
She was born Aug. 9, 1930, in Bemidji, Minn., to Leroy and Flora Vining. She graduated from Bremerton's West High School in 1950.
She was a member of Blue Star Mothers. She also was an active member of Charleston Baptist Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include three sons, Daniel Merrill and his wife, Bonnie, of Voluntown, Conn., Terry Merrill of Poulsbo and Ted Merrill and his wife, Becky, of Bremerton; two daughters, Brenda Boys and her husband, Dana, of Suquamish and Julie Beckers and her husband, Kenny, of Billings, Mont.; a brother, Donald Vining and his wife, Blanche, of Green Valley, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth (Vining) Campbell; and a brother, James Vining.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Crossroads Neighborhood Church, 7555 Old Military Road NE in Bremerton (at Fairgrounds and Old Military roads). Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Adam Rooks
Adam Michael Rooks, 12, of Belfair died April 24, 2002, at Harrison Hospital. His death resulted from an accident.
He was born Aug. 14, 1989, in Vancouver, Wash., to Dwayne and Tyla (Ferreira) Rooks. He was a seventh-grader at Hawkins Middle School in Belfair.
He was active in football and wrestling at school. Other interests were dirt biking, roller blading and Nintendo.
He also enjoyed playing with children, often taking care of his younger sisters. He wanted to become a pediatrician.
He was baptized in the Catholic faith and attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Belfair.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Tyla and Ralph Nettles of Belfair; his father and stepmother, Dwayne and Tanya Rooks of Belfair; two brothers, Anthony and Nicholas Rooks, both of Belfair; three sisters, Emily and Elisa Dickerhoof and Sarah Nettles, all of Belfair; and his grandparents, Alfred and Judy Ferreira of Belfair, Tom and Patty Mooney of Dayton, Ore., Almus and Carol Larsen of Camarillo, Calif., and Audrey Santangelo and Ralph Nettles Sr., both of Port Orchard.
Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1171 Sand Hill Road in Belfair. Interment
will be at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair.

John Sheffield
John E. Sheffield, 39, of Bremerton died April 20, 2002, in Sequim.
He was born Sept. 24, 1962, in Seguin, Texas, to Edward and Ruth (Ryan) Sheffield. He graduated from Seguin High School in 1980, attending Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, and Austin Community College in Austin, Texas.
Mr. Sheffield served in the Navy from 1982 to 1986. He was awarded two Navy Expedition Medals with two Bronze Stars and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
He was a ticket agent with Washington State Ferries for 11 years.
Mr. Sheffield was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth Sheffield of Seguin; his father, Edward Sheffield of Corpus Cristi, Texas; two daughters, Ebony and Vanessa Sheffield, both of Port Orchard; a brother, Lory Sheffield of Detroit; and a sister, Pamela Greer of Fort Worth, Texas.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Interment
will be in Fort Sam Houston National cemetery in San Antonio.
Elmer Gerjets
Elmer Gerjets, 78, of Silverdale died of Parkinson's disease April 18, 2002, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Oct. 12, 1923, to Gerjets and Bertha (Ohling) Gerjets in Scotland, S.D., where he lived until joining the Army in 1944.
Mr. Gerjets entered World War II in Belgium, serving as a mortar platoon radioman and achieving the rank of corporal. He was in Czechoslovakia when the war ended.
After the war, he went back to South Dakota for a short time, then moved to Washington where he found employment as a mechanic at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He married
Delores Nelson in Bremerton in 1951.
Mr. Gerjets continued his career in civil service for many years, retiring from the Naval Submarine Base Bangor as an equipment specialist in 1973.
He spent his retirement doing what he loved best - working on cars and helping other people. The Gerjets celebrated their 50th anniversary in August 2001.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Valerie Gerjets of Tacoma; a sister, Lorene Eilmes of Scotland, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Ernest and Francis Gerjets; and a sister, Henrietta Losing.
Services will be at 1 p.m. May 3 at Silverdale United Methodist Church, where the Gerjets were members.

Victoria June Freckleton
Victoria June Freckleton, 6 hours old, the infant daughter of Mark Ellis and Tracy Lynne (Christensen) Freckleton of Bremerton, died April 22, 2002, in Tacoma.
She was born April 22, 2002, in Tacoma.
Survivors include her parents; a brother, Dalton Ellis Freckleton of Bremerton; a sister, Pearl Lynne Freckleton of Bremerton; and her grandparents, Wanda and Paul Sims of Belfair, David and Linda Christensen of Port Orchard, and Marlow and Gayla Freckleton of Vancouver, Wash. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Ellis Freckleton.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Silverdale Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9256 Nels Nelson Road NW in Bremerton near Silverdale. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m., also at the Silverdale Stake Center. Interment
will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Rob Nancarrow
Robert C. "Rob" Nancarrow, 30, of Bremerton died of a brain tumor April 23, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 6, 1971, in Lynnwood to Ronald Hogg and Enid Nancarrow. He graduated from high school in 1990 and later from the University of Washington.
He married
Nina Howe on June 27, 1999, in Snohomish.
Mr. Nancarrow had worked as a certified nursing assistant and heart monitor technician.
He enjoyed skate boarding, snow boarding and mountain biking. He had been affiliated with the Boy Scouts.
Survivors include his wife; his parents, now of Green Valley, Ariz.; and a son, Colin Nancarrow of Bremerton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Tamara Sian Hogg.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, also at Rill Chapel.

Donna Oliver
Former Bremerton resident Donna Mae Hendrickson Oliver, 72, of Tacoma died April 23, 2002, in Spanaway.
She was born March 5, 1930, in McVille, N.D. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1948.
She married
Bill E. Oliver in 1949 and, after his graduation from Washington State College, the couple lived in various parts of the United States, both working for the Department of Defense.
Mr. Oliver died in 1967. After his death, Mrs. Oliver and their children returned to the northwest.
She retired in 1995 from her 35-year career with the federal government, which included eight years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Daughters of Norway and the Unity Church. She also volunteered with the Tacoma Musical Playhouse.
Survivors include a son, Mike E.; three daughters and their husbands, Terry and Gerald Oliver-Johnson, Mindy and John Oliver-Lora and Kristy and Mike Wilson; two brothers, Harry Hendrickson and his wife, Gen, and Clifford Hendrickson; a grandson and two granddaughters; and 26 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Satur-day at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service follows at 1 p.m.

Marion Williams
Marion Dewayne Williams Jr., 39, of Kingston died April 21, 2002, at his home in Kingston.
He was born June 18, 1962, in Gardena, Calif., to Marion Dewayne and Marilyn Kay (Fox) Williams Sr. He graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1981.
He married
Glenna Renae Stuckey on Sept. 1, 1983, in Poulsbo.
Mr. Williams worked as a sheet metal mechanic in Shop 17 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He was a Baptist. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, now of Poulsbo; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann and Melissa Kay, both of the family home; a sister, Tracey Lanning of Poulsbo; and his grandmothers, Eulalia Fox of Lompoc, Calif., Zora Evangelista of Poulsbo and Juanita Gibbs of Manteca, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandfathers, Eulas Ray Fox and Sammy Evangelista.
No services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.
Christine L. Ewing
Christine L. Ewing, 45, of Port Orchard died after a long fight with cancer April 18, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born June 15, 1956, in Nampa, Idaho, to Linnel and Violet (Hull) Lawrence. She graduated from Nampa High School in 1974 and from Olympic College in 1984.
She married
Rodney E. Ewing on Dec. 6, 1987, in Bremerton.
Mrs. Ewing was a homemaker and bookkeeper.
She was a member of the Christian Life Center in Port Orchard. She enjoyed horses and crafts.
Survivors include her husband; her mother; a son, Dustan M. Lawrence of Port Orchard; two daughters, Rebecca M. Clark and Danyael C. Hackbarth, both of Port Orchard; four brothers, Larry, Gene and Marvin Lawrence, all of Nampa, and Gary Lawrence of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Pat Boyer, Linda Randolph and Lou Lou Wilson, all of Nampa; and two grandchildren, Logan Clark and Kylie Hackbarth. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donny Lawrence.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Life Center, 1780 SE Lincoln Ave. in Port Orchard.
