Maureen Queener
Maureen Elizabeth Queener, 2 months, the infant daughter of Jim and Jill (Kepler) Queener of Bremerton, died April 8, 2002, at her home.
She was born Feb. 4, 2002, in Bremerton.
She is survived by her parents; a sister, Madeline of Bremerton; her maternal grandparents, Don and Nancy Kepler of Scotts Bluff, Neb.; her paternal grandparents, Betty and Ron Lynn of Pickerington, Ohio, and Daniel and Vicky Queener of Rogersville, Tenn.; and her maternal great-grandmother, Em Kepler of Scotts Bluff, Neb.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Silverdale Baptist Church, 8278 Highway 303 NE in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel with cremation at Cherry Grove Crematory in Poulsbo.

May Tuenge
May Jessie (Bering) Tuenge, 84, of Port Orchard died April 5, 2002, in Port Orchard of complications from a stroke.
She was born Oct. 1, 1917, in Richey, Mont., to Walter A. and Amanda (Mathieson) Telford. She attended high school in Silverdale.
She married Samuel P. Bering on July 2, 1935, in Port Orchard. He preceded her in death in 1978.
She married Otto "Bud" Tuenge on June 4, 1983, in Port Orchard. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Mrs. Tuenge was a homemaker. She also had worked as a playroom attendant with the Hi-Joy Bowl in Port Orchard for 20 years.
She was a member of Eagles Auxiliary 2338 in Port Orchard. She enjoyed bingo and travel, having visited Hong Kong, Europe, Hawaii and Alaska.
Survivors include four sons, Samuel P. Bering Jr. of Port Orchard, Harry A. Bering of Tacoma, Bobby L. Bering of Albion, Ind., and Gerry D. Bering of Anchorage, Alaska; four daughters, Dorothy M. Rhines of Tacoma, Kathleen B. Fox of Bellingham and Ilene J. Hawley and Judy E. Patton, both of Port Orchard; a sister, Anne Matthieson of Wenatchee; 46 grandchildren; 100 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Stephens and Jule Vance; and two brothers, George and Arthur Telford.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Inter-ment will be in Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Joe Irons
Joseph P. "Joe" Irons, 82, of Bremerton died April 9, 2002, in Bremerton of congestive heart failure.
He was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Savannah, Ga., to Joe and Louise (DePiano) Irons. He attended Bayside High School in New York City.
He married Helen Ruth Hieber on Nov. 11, 1945, in San Francisco.
Mr. Irons served in the Navy from 1936 to 1945, returning to active duty in 1950 from reserve status to participate in the Korean conflict. He achieved the rank of chief quartermaster and was awarded several medals for various campaigns.
Following his military service, Mr. Irons received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo., in 1953. He earned his master's degree in mathematics from there in 1954.
He went on to a 26-year career in education, teaching in Greeley and in the Bremerton School District. He later was associated with Olympic College, where he taught accounting, developed the vocational education program and served as dean of instruction, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Irons was a member of the American Legion and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bremerton. He also had volunteered with H&R Block, helping the elderly with their taxes.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael of Everett and Robert of Chapel Hill, N.C.; a brother, Neil of Binghamton, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Rachel, Eric, Mike, Sondra and Anthony; and three great-grandchildren, Alex, Colin and Samantha. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4215 Pine Road NE in Bremerton. Inurnment will be in Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park. Arrange-ments are under the direc-tion of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 155 NE 100th St., Seattle, WA 98125.

Martha Meints
Martha Katheryn Meints, 64, of Bremerton died April 8, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Feb. 21, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas. She had attended high school in Bremerton.
She had served as president of a resident council for several years.
Her interests included crafts, singing and Bible study. She participated in several Apostolic churches in Bremerton and Silverdale.
She is survived by three sons, Harm Meints and Ted and Carl David Meacham; and many friends.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., with interment in Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to Apostolic Revival Church, P.O. Box 3894, Silverdale, WA 98383.

Patricia Allen
Patricia Barbara Allen, 80, of Silverdale died April 4, 2002, at Harrison Hospital from complications of pneumonia.
She was born April 3, 1922, in Cincinnati to John and Florence (Carlson) Crowder. She graduated from Poly High School in Pasedena, Calif., in 1939.
She married Arnold J. Allen on Aug. 5, 1943, in Buckley. The Allens had been residents of Bainbridge Island for 34 years, moving to Silverdale in recent years.
Mrs. Allen was a homemaker. She was involved in costume design and sewing for Bainbridge Light Opera and partici-pated in Bainbridge Arts and Crafts.
Other interests included cooking, fishing, traveling and antiques. She attended the Catholic church and had served as a Cub Scout den mother when her children were involved in scouting.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, David and his wife, Mary, of Poulsbo, and Les and his wife, Shirley, of Issaquah; and four grandchildren, Amy, Andrew, Danielle and Marci Allen.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. April 19 in The Linder Room at Crista Shores, 1600 NW Crista Shores Lane in Silverdale.
Arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.

Gerald Ostgaard
Gerald Dean Ostgaard, 75, of Port Townsend died April 4, 2002, of respiratory failure at Jefferson General Hospital in Port Townsend.
He was born Nov. 14, 1926, in Elm Creek, Minn., to Harley L. and Rose B. (Schumacher) Ostgaard. While in his teens, he left Minnesota for Seattle, where he worked as a welder in a shipyard.
At age 17, Mr. Ostgaard joined the Navy Air Force, training as a tail gunner. World War II ended before he could go overseas.
He married Mary Eleanor Warren on April 20, 1947, in Bellflower, Calif.
Mr. Ostgaard went on to earn his high school diploma from Excelsior Union High School in Norwalk, Calif. He later worked as a carpenter and upholsterer, owning several upholstery busi-nesses.
Mr. Ostgaard was a member of San Juan Baptist Church in Port Townsend. His favorite hobbies were water skiing and his 1935 Packard.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles and his wife, Sally, of Cerritos, Calif.; two daughters, Kathy Newman and her husband, Dennis, and Karen Loving and her husband, Bob, all of Port Townsend; two brothers, Duane of Stockton, Calif., and Gordon of Lakewood, Calif.; a sister, Ellen Ostgaard of Lakewood; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at San Juan Baptist Church. Inurnment will be at Laurel Grove cemetery in Port Townsend. Arrangements are under the direction of Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend.

Jack Neal
Melvin Eugene "Jack" Neal, 78, of Bremerton died of a heart attack April 6, 2002, at Messenger House on Bainbridge Island.
He was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Everett and Pearl (Maxfield) Neal.
He married Maureen M. Hollister on July 4, 1964.
Mr. Neal served in the Navy during World War II. He was awarded several medals and four Bronze Stars.
He was employed at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Shop 56 as a pipefitter, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Neal enjoyed fishing, traveling, spending time with his springer spaniel, Lacy, and brush picking.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Danny of Alaska; a daughter, Cathleen M. (Neal) Goforth of Bremerton; a stepson, Laurance L. Lancaster of California; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret.
Mr. Neal's family will have a private scattering of his ashes. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice of organizations that benefit land and wildlife preservation or fishing enhancement.

Helen Terzieff
Helen Loretta Terzieff, 62, of Port Townsend died April 7, 2002, of cancer at Kah Tai Care Center in Port Townsend.
She was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Odessa to Alistair and Lydia (Ramm) Urquhart. She graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1957 and later from Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane.
She married Martin "Marty" Terzieff on Dec. 27, 1961, in Spokane.
Mrs. Terzieff was certified as a medical-surgical nurse. She had worked as a registered nurse at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Everett General Hospital, Stevens Memorial Hospital in Edmonds, Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Kah Tai Care Center and Olsten-Kimberly Quality Care in Bremerton. While at Stevens Memorial, she had been a staff nurse, head nurse and relief supervisor.
She enjoyed sewing, counted-cross stitching, lace making, gardening and travel. She was a member of The Church of Saint Joseph in Sequim and had volunteered with the Port Townsend Visitor Center and at Jefferson General Hospital.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, now of Spokane; a brother, George Urquhart of Joseph, Ore.; a sister, Barbara Clark and her husband, James, of Puyallup; a niece, Tammy Urquhart; and three nephews, Jim Clark and Scott and Ross Urquhart.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. April 27 at The Church of Saint Joseph, 121 E Maple in Sequim, followed by a church reception. Arrangements are under the direction of Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend.
Memorial donations may be made to Eastern Washington University Foundation, Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education, 520 Fifth St., Cheney, WA 99004.

Elizabeth Cartwright
Elizabeth Ann Cartwright, 88, of Bremerton died April 6, 2002, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born July 5, 1913, in Kingsly Township, Pa., to Dominic and Lena (Babb) Scalfaro. She graduated from Youngsville High School in Youngsville, Pa., in 1931; from Millard Fillmore School in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1944; and from the University of New York-Albany in 1946.
She married Stephen Phillips Cartwright on May 30, 1946, in Tacoma. He preceded her in death in January.
Mrs. Cartwright was a registered nurse for more than 20 years, retiring in 1974. She practiced in private medical and dental offices and at Harrison Hospital, where she served as head of the recovery room.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and gardening. She was a member of Elks Lodge 1181 in Bremerton.
Survivors include two sons, Barry of Kent and Daniel of Bremerton; and five grandchildren, Kaaren, Diana, Alana, Erin and Daniel. She also was preceded in death by brothers, Hank, Norm and Pat Scalfaro.
At her request, no services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Harrison Hospital Foundation, 2520 Cherry Ave., Bremerton, WA 98310.

Phyllis Williams
Phyllis Majel Williams, 82, of Bremerton died April 5, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Seattle to Harry and Mary (McEwen) Schroeder. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle.
She married John Bromley Williams on Nov. 3, 1939, in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Williams had worked for 15 years as a secretary at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and with the Soquel School District near Santa Cruz, Calif., retiring in 1982.
She enjoyed rug hooking, basket making and gardening. In their retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Williams traveled exten-sively throughout the United States, living for seven years in Homer, Alaska, where Mr. Williams died.
Survivors include a son, Robert of Brookings, Ore.; a daughter, Judith Donnelly of Port Orchard; four grandchildren, Renee Doze and Brian Petersen, both of Tracy, Calif., John Petersen of Port Orchard and Roberta Williams of California; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams' ashes will be scattered on Kachemak Bay in Alaska. Her husband's ashes also were scattered there.
Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson's Disease Association, 1959 NE Pacific St., Division of Neurology, RG-27, Seattle, WA 98195.
