Jo Ann Segars
Jo Ann Segars, 59, of Bremerton died Dec. 5, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 25, 1939, in Sweet Home, Ore., to Loren and Dorothy (Swanson) Carlson. She was raised in Anchorage, Alaska.
Mrs. Segars was a homemaker all of her life.
Survivors include her husband, Warren Leon Segars of Turlock, Calif.; her father of Kingman, Ariz.; two sons, Robert Ney of Eagle River, Alaska, and Jay Segars of Turlock, Calif.; two daughters, Kathy Vanfossan of Long Beach, N.C., and Tammy Grijalva of Turlock, Calif.; a brother, Glen of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Ruby Hansen of Forest City, Iowa; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gene.
Services will be announced at a later date. Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

John Baker
John Lowell Baker, 60, of Bremerton died Dec. 8, 1998, of cancer.
He was born April 4, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Ronald and Donna (Brown) Baker. He was raised and educated in Green Bay, Wis., graduating from West High School in 1956. He later received a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1960 and an M.A. through the overseas program at the University of Hawaii in 1974.
On May 16, 1986, he married
Kristina Marie Nelson in Urasoe City, Okinawa, Japan.
Mr. Baker served in the Navy from 1956 to 1981 in Alameda, Calif.; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Danang, Vietnam; Okinawa, Japan; and Bremerton, achieving the rank of lieutenant commander. He was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, a Navy Unit Commendation, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. He worked for the past 10 year s at WITCO Industries in Okinawa, Japan, retiring earlier this year.
He was a member of DeMolay, the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity at the University of Wisconsin at Madison and the Retired Officers Association.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeffrey; two daughters, Wendy Sears of Silverdale and Cindy Fletcher of Bremerton; a sister, Carolyn of Woodbury, Minn.; six grandchildren, Chelsea and Winston Sears, both of Silverdale, Rachel, Carly and Sally Fletcher, and Jamie Baker; and his first wife, Anne Brown of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 12 at Naval Station Bremerton Chapel, Bldg. 300, U Street and Whiting Way.

Ernest Decorvet
Ernest Decorvet, 74, of Poulsbo died Dec. 1, 1998, in Poulsbo.
He was born Sept. 21, 1924, in San Francisco to Peter and Alwina (Steiger) Decorvet. He was raised in Oakland, Calif., graduating from Fremont High School in 1940.
On Dec. 14, 1969, he married
Nelga P. Gridley in Reno, Nev. She preceded him in death in 1983.
Mr. Decorvet served in the Army from 1944 to 1951 in the South Pacific. He worked with the Seattle Department of Fish and Game for more than 30 years, retiring in 1979.
He is survived by a sister, Marcelle Swan of Yuba City, Calif.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 12 at The Stone Chapel. Inurnment will be at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Bo Benjamin
Bo Benjamin, 83, of Bremerton died Dec. 7, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital as a result of kidney failure.
He was born Sept. 28, 1915, in Seattle to Charles and Anna (Harris) Benjamin. He was raised in Bremerton, graduating from Union High School in 1933. He later graduated from the apprenticeship program at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1935.
On March 11, 1996, he married
Choral Duke in Las Vegas.
Mr. Benjamin served in the Army during World War II. He worked at PSNS for 34 years as a joiner, retiring as a general foreman in 1972.
He was an active member of Paws and Taws, Sashay and Round Squares and B.P.O.E. No. 1181.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marily Webb of Port Angeles, Judy Hudson of Auburn and Sharon Tucker of Bremerton; two stepsons, Dean Grimbley and Terry Hornseth, both of Bremerton; a sister, Lois Sisson of Bremerton; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two wives, Cecilia and Elaine.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 11 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation and inurnment will be at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Marion Swedburg
Longtime Port Orchard resident Marion V. Swedburg, 87, died Dec. 5, 1998.
She was born June 21, 1911, in Rock Creek Township, Minn.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Ron of Port Orchard; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A committal service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 11 at Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
Sharon Glaser-Bonnici
Sharon D. Glaser-Bonnici, 56, of Bremerton died Dec. 1, 1998.
She was born Jan. 2, 1942, in Bremerton to Fred and Nita (Williams) Glaser. She was raised in Bremerton, graduating from West Bremerton High School in 1960.
She worked in retail jewelry sales for the past 30 years in the Enumclaw and Tacoma areas.
She was a member of the Eagles in Bremerton, a social member of the VFW in Bremerton and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Buckley.
Survivors include her husband, Tony Bonnici of Vancouver, Wash.; her mother of Bremerton; a son, Daniel Hagar of Twanoh; a daughter, Kathy Ungren of Bremerton; a brother, David of Bremerton; and three grandchildren, Andrew and Aeron Ungren and Caitlinn Hagar of Twanoh.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at the VFW Hall, 190 S. Dora, Bremerton.

James Keppel
James L. Keppel, 92, of Bremerton died Dec. 3, 1998, of natural causes.
He was born Sept. 21, 1906, in St. Cloud, Minn., to James and Susan (Gallow) Keppel. He was raised in Yakima and Seattle, attending Lincoln High School. He later attended Olympic College.
Mr. Keppel served in the Navy during World War II, retiring as a chief machinist mate. He later worked for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a machinist.
He was a life member of the NRA and a member of the Fleet Reserve.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Margie Whittaker of Spokane, Lucy Moore of California, and Nina McFarland of Carson, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, in 1981.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 10 at Sunrise Nursing Home. Graveside service will be at noon Dec. 11 at Miller Woodlawn.
Alan Woolley
Alan "Cal" Woolley, 70, of Bainbridge Island died Dec. 6, 1998, at his home.
He was born Aug. 13, 1928, in Eugene, Ore., to Alan and Dorothy (Trethewey) Woolley. He was raised in Eugene, Ore., later attending the University of Portland.
Mr. Woolley worked as a marine engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he directed maintenance of the Western dredge fleet. He was also an accomplished artist and teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Nonafay of Bainbridge Island; a son, Thomas of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Anne Strada of Madera, Calif.; a sister, Lynn Nicholson of Lemon Grove, Calif.; and three grandchildren of Madera, Calif.
Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 11 at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.

Gudrun Holm
Gudrun Ingrid Holm, 91, of Bremerton died Nov. 27, 1998, in Seattle, from congestive heart failure.
She was born Aug. 4, 1907, in South Bend to Bernhard and Marie (Pedersen) Nelson. She was raised in Vinland, Wash.
In 1928, she married
John Holm. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She was a member of the Sons of Norway and the Vinland Lutheran Church.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 12 at Vinland Lutheran Church. Her ashes will be buried in the family grove at the church.
