Diane Lambert
Diane F. Lambert, 59, of Port Orchard died May 12, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
Shewas born July 13, 1942, in Old Town, Maine.
She married Melvin Lambert on May 9, 1958, in Bremerton. They celebrated their 44th anniversary last week.
Mrs. Lambert had worked at Wal-Mart as a sales associate and greeter for the past five years. She enjoyed travel, bowling and gardening.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Gregory Lambert of Bremerton; two daughters, Bonnie Henderson of Cleburne, Texas, and Irene Ross of Bremerton; two brothers, Clyde Bertram of Harrisburg, Pa., and Carl Bertram of Pennsylvania; and three sisters, Bonnie "Yvonne" Danzeisen of Honey Brook, Pa., Mary Tracey of Coatesville, Pa., and Lucy Luminella of Blasburg, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with a funeral service following at 4 p.m. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.

George Jodry
Former Silverdale resident Emile George Jodry, 88, of Florence, Ariz., died April 27, 2002, in Casa Grande, Ariz.
He was born Dec. 23, 1913, in Morinville, Alberta, Canada, to Alfred and Jeanne Jodry. He moved to Poulsbo in 1919, graduating from North Kitsap High School in 1933.
He married Mary Jane Johnson on Oct. 18, 1952, in Bremerton. The Jodrys were married for 49-1/2 years.
After a 30-year career in welding at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and the Ship Repair Facility in Guam, Mr. Jodry retired in 1969. He then taught welding at Olympic College and fished commercially.
Mr. Jodry was a past president of Bremerton's Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an avid fisherman and golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; a sister, Lillian Youngs and her husband, Alton, of Silverdale; a daughter, Lee Ann Hubble and her husband, Tower, of Hopeville, N.J.; two sons, Robert Jodry and his wife, Cheryl, of Seattle and George A. Jodry of Salkum, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Myrtle Jodry of Poulsbo; seven grandchildren, Adriane Borgia, Annie Harrison, Becky Rose and Dominique, Marguerite, Holly and Michael Jodry; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Marguerite, Suzanne and Lorraine, and by a son, Roger.
Cremation was under the direction of Hudgel's Swan Funeral Home in Tucson, Ariz. Placement of his ashes has not been determined. Memorial services will be held at Caliente' Casa de Sol Resort in Florence, Ariz., in the fall.

Doris Housel
Doris May Housel, 85, of Bremerton died May 6, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born May 21, 1916, in Roundup, Mont., to Frank and Marian (Thompson) Ottman. She graduated from Roundup High School in 1934.
She married Herschel D. Housel on Jan. 9, 1942, at the First Methodist Church in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Mrs. Housel had worked as a secretary at Central Kitsap High School. She was retired.
She was a member of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years and was affiliated with the Lutheran faith. She also had been active in numerous charitable and service organization.
Survivors include a son, Herschel C. Housel of Los Angeles; a sister, Betty Wade of Roundup; and two grandchildren, Kirsten and Maile Housel, both of Los Angeles. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Housel, in 1975 and by a sister, Gene Kisman.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Shirley Tero
Shirley J. Tero, 79, of Poulsbo died May 14, 2002, of cancer at Harrison Hospital.
She was born April 18, 1923, in Spokane to Clarence and Alma (Swansen) Harr. She graduated from high school in Spokane.
She married Rudy "Tappy" Tero on Dec. 14, 1947.
Mrs. Tero worked as a clerk-typist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 34 years, retiring in 1972. She enjoyed travel and fishing.
She is survived by her husband.
At her request, no services will be held.
Arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.
Inurnment will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dorothy McMillen
Dorothy Mae McMillen, 70, of Bremerton died May 11, 2002 at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center of kidney cancer.
She was born Nov. 4, 1931, in Santa Ana, Calif., to Earl and Eileen (Little) Dyer. She attended schools in Santa Ana.
She married John McMillen on Aug. 3, 1949, in Newport Beach, Calif.
Mrs. McMillen was a homemaker. She had worked as a sales clerk in retail stores in California, as a nurse's aide at Fircrest School in Seattle and with silk-screening in California.
She enjoyed crafts, country-style painting on wood, attending flea markets, collecting antique glassware and participating in outings with the Joy Group from her church, Navy Yard City Bible Church.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jean Wall of Bremerton and Johnnie Duhon of Forest Grove, Ore.; a brother, Robert Dyer of Buena Park, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a grandson.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Navy Yard City Bible Church. Inurnment will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Callista Harvey
Callista Pomerene Harvey, 92, of Bremerton died May 14, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 2, 1909, in Berlin, Ohio, to Dr. Myron B. Pomerene and Florence (Maxwell) Pomerene. She graduated from Millersburg High School in Millersburg, Ohio, in 1927. In 1931, she graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Ky., majoring in biology and music.
She married Robert Emmett Harvey Jr. on June 30, 1934, in Columbus, Ohio. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Harvey had worked with Homeowners Loan Corp. in Columbus. Later, she and her husband owned Goodwin of California Inc., a sheet metal manufacturing business, retiring in 1978.
She enjoyed music and reading.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth J. McConaughy and her husband, Richard, of Bremerton; a brother-in-law, Richard D. Harvey of Upper Montclair, N.J.; a sister, Margaret P. Martin of Columbus; two grandsons, Robert B. McConaughy and his wife, Andrea, of Orlando, Fla., and Bryan B. McConaughy and his wife, Tracy, of Seattle; and a great-grandson, Andrew P. McConaughy of Orlando. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Pomerene.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Golden Gate National cemetery in San Francisco. Cremation is under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Bill Mackey
William "Bill" Mackey, 87, of Bremerton died May 10, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Oct. 25, 1914, in San Mateo, Calif., to Samuel and Sarah (McBurney) Mackey. He graduated from Polytechnical High School in San Francisco in 1933 and from the University of California-Berkeley in 1938.
He married Ann Morris on May 21, 1944, in Memphis, Tenn. She preceded him in death in 1982.
Mr. Mackey served in the Marine Corps from 1942 to 1960, achieving the rank of major.
He later worked for the Public Health Service, as a hospital administrator and as a personnel director with Civil Service. He retired in 1972.
Mr. Mackey was a 32-degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of San Diego, Calif.; a member of Indian Wells Valley 691 Masonic Lodge in Ridgecrest, Calif.; and Al Bar Temple Shrine in San Diego.
He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, had been involved with SCORE, a senior volunteer program, and worked with track and field in San Diego. He also was also a member of the Mackey Clan, participating in Highland games.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Grobler and her husband, John, of Bremerton; a brother, Jack Mackey of Poulsbo; a granddaughter, Robin Hansen and her husband, Jens, of Fort Myers, Fla.; a grandson, Garrett Grobler and his wife, Kelli, of Puyallup; and a great-grandson, Gunnar Hansen of Fort Myers.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation is by Cherry Grove Crematory in Poulsbo with inurnment at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.

Tom Sawyer
Walter Thomas "Tom" Sawyer, 54, of Poulsbo died of a heart attack May 9, 2002 on Bainbridge Island.
He was born Feb. 3, 1948, in Springdale, Ark., to Cletus and Dorothy (Swegle) Sawyer.
Survivors include his mother, of Poulsbo; a brother, Ernest Sawyer and his wife, Yvonne, of Silverdale; a sister, Linda Olson and her husband, Terry, of Bainbridge Island; four nephews, Dustin and Cody Sawyer, both of Silverdale, and Charlie and Hans Olson, both of Bainbridge Island; and four nieces, Kellene Sawyer of Silverdale, and Heather, Jenny and Katie Olson, all of Bainbridge Island. He was preceded in death by his father.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at Bethany Lutheran Church, 7968 Finch Road NE on Bainbridge Island. Interment icon will be at Poulsbo Community cemetery under the direction of Kass Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island.

Jim Shoemake
James P. "Jim" Shoemake, 56, of Bremerton died May 8, 2002, of complications from lung surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born Nov. 18, 1945, in Bremerton to Boose and Myrtle (Gernander) Shoemake. He graduated from Bremerton's West High School in 1964.
Mr. Shoemake served in the Army. He was a Vietnam veteran.
He had worked at Dick Vlist Motors in Port Orchard for many years until 2001. Previously, he had been employed by the Santa Fe Railroad in California.
Mr. Shoemake was a member of the Saints Car Club of Port Orchard.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; his mother, Myrtle Shoemake of Bremerton; a son,
Steven LeDoux of California; two brothers, Larry Shoemake and his wife Carol of Bremerton and Alan Shoemake and his companion, Lori Huser, of Port Orchard. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Tom Shoemake, in 1978.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Lucille Stone Hewson
Lucille Stone Hewson, 92, of Bainbridge Island died May 1, 2002, of pneumonia at Messenger House Care Center on Bainbridge Island.
She was born April 23, 1910, in Seattle to Ellsworth B. and Maude (Haworth) Stone. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1928 and attended business school in Seattle for two years.
She married Wilbur M. Hewson on Sept. 29, 1940. He died in 1989.
Mrs. Hewson had worked as a legal secretary and real estate agent.
She was a member of the Wing Point Golf and Country Club and St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, both on Bainbridge Island. She enjoyed music.
Survivors include a son, Teri D. Hewson of Poulsbo; a daughter, Dawn (Hewson) Harris of Port Ludlow; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin, Elwood and Homer Stone.
A memorial service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Inurnment will be in the interium at St. Barnabas under the direction of Kass Funeral Home on Bainbridge Island.
