Edwin Heuer Jr.
Former Bremerton resident Edwin Louis Heuer Jr., 58, of Bluejacket, Okla., died June 14, 2002, at his sister's home in Bluejacket.
He was born March 2, 1944, in Portland, Ore., to Edwin and Martha (Lytsell) Heuer Sr.
Mr. Heuer served in the Army from 1970 to 1973. He later worked as a security guard at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil for over 15 years.
He enjoyed playing music and fishing.
Survivors include three sisters, Betty Jean Asche and her husband, Herbert, of Bluejacket, Karen Lee Ishmal and her husband, Lee, of Yuba City, Calif., and Cheryl Ann Bourg and her husband, Roy, of Linda, Calif.; three brothers, David Dean Heuer and his wife, Betsy, of Lake Park, Iowa, Everett Allen Heuer of Bluejacket and Daniel Jerry Heuer of Marysville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at a later date in Yuba City. Arrangements are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita, Okla.
Lowell Bowman
Former Bremerton resident Lowell Clarence Bowman, 94, of Marysville died June 18, 2002.
He was born March 17, 1908, in Willard, Lincoln County, Neb., to Clarence and Pearl (Meyers) Bowman.
While living in Bremerton, Mr. Bowman was employed at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 31 years.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Bernice; a son, Keith and his wife, Louise, of Marysville; four grandchildren, Ben Bowman of Phoenixville, Pa., Jim DeClements and his wife, Pam, of Tacoma, Michele Harps of Seattle and Mark DeClements; five great-grandchildren, Jody DeClements and his wife, Nicole, of Fox Island, Blake and Carling Harps, both of Seattle, and Mark Jon and Brittany DeClements; and two great-great-grandchildren, Ann Marie and Sophia DeClements, both of Fox Island.
Arrangements are under the direction of Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home.
David Bosley
David A. Bosley, 76, of Bremerton died June 4, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Cleveland. He graduated from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich., in 1949.
Mr. Bosley served in the Marine Corps from 1943 to 1945.
He was a veteran of Iwo Jima and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was an educator for 25 years, teaching horticulture at Spokane Community College and serving as a county extension agent at Washington State University. He retired in 1992.
Mr. Bosley enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the National Floricultural Honorary Society.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy E. (Corwin) Bosley; a daughter, Lisa V. Bosley of Bremerton; a stepson, James Brokaw of Sammamish; two stepdaughters, Carole Banks of Redmond and Sandra Lane of Bellevue; two brothers, Mark Bosley of Kansas City, Mo., and Richard Bosley of Florence, Ky.; a sister, Barbara Powers of Fairfax, Va.; and grandchildren Shane, B.J., Jerry, Corbin, Chris, Heidi and Julia.
A private graveside service will be today at Cedar Lawns Memorial Park in Redmond.

Pat Tierney
Lowell Patrick "Pat" Tierney, 70, of Port Orchard died June 14, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born July 30, 1931, in Everett to Harvey and Lena Tierney. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1951.
He married
Joy Aiken on Aug. 8, 1952, in Camarillo, Calif.
Mr. Tierney served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1973, retiring as a chief master sergeant. He later worked as a counterman with Westbay Auto Parts.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing and bowling. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and the Air Force Sergeant's Association.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael P. Tierney and his wife, JoAnn, and Jeffrey P. Tierney and his wife, Debbie, all of Port Orchard; six grandchildren, Shannon Creighton and her husband, Robert, of Oxnard, Calif., and Kevin, Ryan, Robert, Ashlee and Stephen Tierney, all of Port Orchard; two great-grandchildren, Xander Creighton of Oxnard and Megan Rogge of Port Orchard; a sister-in-law, Gloria Novak and her husband, Wayne, of Port Orchard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. June 30 at the home of Mr. Tierney's son Michael.

Nancy McKelvy
Nancy Ann McKelvy, 60, of Bremerton died June 17, 2002, of heart failure at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Aug. 1, 1941, in Seattle to Ben H. and Ruth M. (Lewis) Bledsoe. She graduated from Bremerton's West High School in 1959 and from Olympic College in 1961.
She married
Gene Aaron McKelvy on Dec. 5, 1964, in Bremerton.
Mrs. McKelvy was employed as a disposal clerk in reutilization and marketing at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 33 years, retiring in 1995.
Previously, she worked in a clerical position with the city of Bremerton for one year.
She was a member the Business and Professional Women's Club, Ladies of Elks, the Sons of Norway and a local classic car club. She also was an active member of First Covenant Church in Bremerton.
Mrs. McKelvy enjoyed theater, gardening and music.
Survivors include her husband; and a brother, Ben H. Bledsoe Jr. of Seattle.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Covenant Church. Inurnment will be in Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Vivian Whisnant
Vivian Bernice Whisnant, 72, of Bremerton died June 13, 2002, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
She was born May 2, 1930, in Kingston to Moise and Ethel Mae (Davies) Gadouas. She had attended North Kitsap High School.
She married
Jean D. Whisnant in Kingston in 1960. He died in 1996.
Mrs. Whisnant had owned and operated The Drifters Tavern in Kingston.
She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was an avid Mariners fan and also enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include two sons, Mark D. Whisnant of Kingston and Jadee L. Whisnant and his wife, Beth, of Poulsbo; and eight grandchildren.
A gathering in memory of Vivian Whisnant will be at 1 p.m. Sunday on the corner of Second Avenue and Ohio in downtown Kingston. A potluck follows in the same location.
Arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.
Robert Klim
Robert Edward Klim, 87, of Bremerton died June 16, 2002, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
He was born May 28, 1915, in Everett to Joseph and Martha (Czerwonka) Klimkiewicz. He attended local schools in Everett, graduating from Everett High School in 1933.
After finishing high school, Mr. Klim joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and also worked in local mills.
He married
his childhood sweetheart, Gloria Osborne, on Jan. 1, 1940, in Everett.
Later, the couple lived in Bremerton, where Mr. Klim worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center at Keyport, retiring in the mid-1970s.
He enjoyed camping with his family on Hood Canal and at Timberlakes, fishing in the Olympic Mountains, gardening and hiking. He once climbed Mount Constance.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Bryan Klim of Kingston and Michael Klim of Seattle; a daughter, Donna Dailly of Bremerton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
At his request, no services are planned. A family gathering will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel with cremation at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo.
Jack Nelson
Jack A. Nelson, 57, a longtime teacher at Marcus Whitman Junior High School, died of cancer June 15, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Jan. 29, 1945, in Bremerton to Leslie A. and Marilyn J. (Jones) Nelson. He graduated from Curtis High School in University Place in 1963.
He went on to study at Central Washington University, graduating in 1971. He earned his master of arts degree from Lesley University based in Cambridge, Mass.
He married
Kay Cummings on Dec. 22, 1973.
Mr. Nelson served in the Air Force in Germany during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of sergeant.
He was a longtime teacher at Marcus Whitman Junior High School, retiring in June 2001 after 30 years. He taught social studies and was instrumental in developing a well-known exchange program between schools in Belarus and South Kitsap.
Mr. Nelson had served on the board of the Washington Education Association, the National Education Association and as president of the South Kitsap Education Association. He had been involved in the establishment of collaborative bargaining between the district and its teachers.
He enjoyed travel and worked extensively for children in both Germany and Russia.
Survivors include his wife; his parents, now of Port Ludlow; a daughter, Dana Knox and her partner, Romes Curtiss, of Seattle; two brothers, Steve Nelson and his wife, Cathy, of Tacoma and Mark Nelson of Everett.
A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Marcus Whitman Junior High School, 1887 Madrona Drive SE in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Glenn Magneson
Glenn E. Magneson, 76, of Bremerton died June 17, 2002, at his home after a long illness.
He was born May 28, 1926, in Grygla, Minn., to Ilus M. and Louise (Rostvold) Magneson. He graduated from A.C. High School in Crookston, Minn., later attending both Olympic College and Central Washington University.
Mr. Magneson served in the Navy from 1944 to 1947, achieving the rank of gunner's mate second class.
He married
Jeanne Rhodes on April 4, 1975, in Bremerton.
Mr. Magneson worked as a shipfitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 31 years, retiring as a shipfitter foreman.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held numerous positions in the church. He was also an avid college football fan.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Roger Magneson of Salt Lake City, Dale A. Magneson of Bremerton, G. Wayne Magneson of Auburn and Lowell Magneson of Provo, Utah; a daughter, Karen Palmer of Auburn; three stepsons, Ron and Michael Darkow, both of Bremerton, and Bob Darkow of Clyde Park, Mont.; two step-daughters, Sherri Simmons of Bothell and Shirlee Schreiber of Summerville, S.C.; a brother, James A. Magneson of Seabeck; a sister, Vi Siegel of Port Orchard; a half-sister, Irene Willard of Flandreau, S.D.; his first wife, Neva Stenbak of Bremerton; and 46 grand-children.
Viewing will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2225 Perry Ave. in East Bremerton, with a 2 p.m. funeral service at the same location and a recep-tion following. Interment
for family and invited guests will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Brad Brown
Brad Lee Brown, 45, of Chimacum died of cancer June 15, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1956, in Port Townsend to B.G. "Brownie" and Gloria (Powell) Brown. He graduated from Chimacum High School.
He married
Renée Yvonne Adams on Aug. 16, 1975, in Port Townsend.
Mr. Brown worked as a logger until 1977, when he took over his family's dairy farm in Chimacum.
He was a member of the Port Townsend Elks Lodge and supervised the open gym at Chimacum High School for 20 years. Other interests were flying and basketball.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, now of Chimacum; a son, Kyle Brown of Bremerton; a brother, Barry Brown of Chimacum; and two sisters, Debbie Page of Gig Harbor and Jodi Holt of Chimacum. He was preceded in death by his father in July 2001.
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday at New Life Assembly of God Church, 1636 Hastings Ave. in Port Townsend. A barbecue at the family farm follows the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend.
