Marguerite Ninneman
Marguerite Ninneman, 89, of Bremerton died June 16, 2002, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
She was born Jan. 16, 1913, in Bremerton to Otto M. and Eva (Pitts) Edson. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1931.
She married
Kenneth E. Ninneman on Jan. 10, 1935, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Mrs. Ninneman was one of the original usherettes at the Roxy in downtown Bremerton. She also had worked at Bremer's Department Store for many years.
She had served as president of the North Mason School Board and volunteered with the Election Board. She also was a member of the Orthopedic Guild and Unity Church of Bremerton.
She enjoyed reading and playing golf.
Survivors include a son, Don P. Ninneman and his wife, Bonnie, of University Place; two daughters, Nancy Mosely of Marysville and Jeanne Burger and her husband, Dick, of Seattle; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Edson, and her sister, Dorothy Roberts.
No services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel with inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Elsie Hallowell
Elsie Hallowell, 93, of Bremerton died June 14, 2002, at her home.
She was born May 27, 1909, in Nashwaulk, Minn., to John and Hulda (Carlson) Anderson. She graduated from Roundup High School in Roundup, Mont., in 1928.
She married
William Dee Hallowell in Billings, Mont., in 1928.
Mrs. Hallowell worked for more than 25 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1969 from tool room Shop 396.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Stewart of Bremerton and Thirza A. Jones of Tennessee; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, two brothers and a sister.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Robert Krueger
Robert J. Krueger, 77, of Bremerton died June 14, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio, to William Fred and Mary L. (St. Clair) Krueger. He graduated from Maumee High School in Toledo.
He married
Lillian Evelyn Savage on April 17, 1946. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Mr. Krueger served in the Navy from 1941 to 1950 as a boiler technician fireman. He later worked as a truck driver with Peninsula Truck Lines, retiring in 1980.
He enjoyed golf and bingo. He spent many hours organizing and assisting with recreational activities at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
Survivors include two daughters, Gayle L. Holloway and her husband, Duane, and Beverly A. Covell and her husband, Ronald, all of Bremerton; a brother, Bill Krueger of Michigan; a sister, Doris Waite and her husband, Bill, of LaPlatte, Fla.; four grandchildren, Monica E. Riggs of Poulsbo, D. Corey Holloway and his wife, Cristy, of Charleston, S.C., Kimberly Shaw and her husband, Ted, of Port Orchard and Caren A. Jessee of Seabeck; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Paul English.
No services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel with inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Betty McElroy
Betty M. McElroy, 56, of Bremerton died June 13, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Nov. 3, 1945, in Bremerton to Richard and Catherine (Collins) McElroy. She graduated from Bremerton's East High School in 1964 and from Olympic College in 1966.
She went on to study at Seattle Pacific University, graduating in 1968. She received a bachelor of arts degree in home economics from SPU as well as certification in secondary education and early childhood education.
She worked as a kindergarten teacher for 10 years in the Quilcene School District, at Valley Christian School in Los Altos, Calif., and at Christian schools in Bremerton and Port Orchard. She had also been employed in home health care.
At the time of her death, she had been a nutritionist with the Bremerton School District for the past 20 years, primarily at Crownhill Elementary and Bremerton Junior High.
She was a member of Sylvan Way Baptist Church in East Bremerton. She served the church as a deaconess, choir member and preschool Sunday school teacher.
She had also been a Harrison Hospital volunteer. Other interests were spending time with her family, music, sewing and baking.
Survivors include a sister, Joyce Parsons of Bremerton; two nephews, Jon Parsons of Tacoma and David Parsons, stationed with the Army in Germany; a great niece, Mercedez Parsons and a great nephew, Johnathan Parsons.
A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sylvan Way Baptist Church. A private family graveside service is also planned. Arrangements will be under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Kenneth Johnson
Kenneth A. Johnson, 57, of Port Orchard died June 10, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Jan. 17, 1945, in Sacramento, Calif., to Art and Laveta Johnson. He graduated from high school in Rio Linda, Calif., in 1962.
Mr. Johnson served in the Coast Guard from 1962 to 1989, achieving the rank of senior master chief. He was a Vietnam veteran and the recipient of several ribbons and medals.
He enjoyed camping and fishing.
Sur-vivors include his companion of nine years, Beverly Timmons of Port Orchard; two step-daughters, Wendy Tucheck of Port Orchard and Heidi Teel of Dallas; a stepson, James Tucheck of Port Orchard; and grandsons Timothy Tucheck and Zachary Johnson, both of Port Orchard.
A graveside service with full military honors will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Eddie Bjork
Eddie Bjork, 87, of Bremerton died June 14, 2002, of Parkinson's disease in Bremerton.
He was born June 24, 1914, in North Bend, Ore., to Leander and Alina Bjork.
Mr. Bjork had served with the Navy Seabees. He then worked in property management for 55 years, retiring in 1993.
He had been a member of the Bremerton Rotary Club for 23 years and was named a Paul Harris Fellow in recog-nition of significant donation to the Rotary Inter-national Foundation. He was also a lifetime member of the Bremerton Elks and had been affiliated with the Elks for 60 years.
He and his wife, Wanda, enjoyed travel and had been around the world twice.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gary Sergeant of Bellevue, James Benson of Tempe, Ariz., and William Benson of Bremerton; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Thelma Turbitt
Former Bremerton resident Thelma Turbitt, 92, of Lacey died June 11, 2002, of a stroke in Lacey.
She was born Nov. 20, 1909, in Butte, Mont., to James and Lucilla (Boomer) Kinsman. She graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle and received both bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of Washington.
She married
John Turbitt on July 12, 1936, at the Forest Theater on the University of Washington campus. The couple lived in the Madrona Point area of Bremerton for 40 years, moving to the Panorama City retirement center in Lacey in 1984.
While living in Bremerton, Mrs. Turbitt had been very involved in educating children. She operated one of the area's first nursery co-ops for about three years.
She went on to teach for 10 years in the Bremerton School District. She taught kindergarten and third grade.
Mrs. Turbitt enjoyed traveling with her husband. Other interests were bridge and outdoor activities such as hiking.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Bruce Turbitt and his wife, Maryetta, of Kelso; a daughter, Lois (Turbitt) Schultz and her husband, Mike, of Durham, N.C.; four grandchildren, Sharlene Herrick, Kim Cookson, Kurt Turbitt and Sam Schultz; and two great-grandchildren, Athena and Zachary Herrick.
A memorial service was held June 15 at The Quinalt building in Panorama City. Arrangements were under the direction of Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Wallace Johnson
Former Bremerton resident Wallace Eugene Johnson, 86, of Everett died June 13, 2002, in Everett.
He was born Sept. 19, 1915, in Ferndale to Henry and Nellie (Larsen) Johnson.
He attended high school and Northwest Bible College in Seattle. He also attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Mo.
Mr. Johnson married
Mabel Hagen on Dec. 12, 1942, in Bremerton.
He owned Modern Furniture Manufacturers for 50 years.
He enjoyed family, traveling and growing raspberries.
He is survived by his wife; sons Daryl and his wife, Rebecca, of Lopez Island; a daughter, Marilyn Upton and her husband, Norm, of Marysville; two brothers, Raymond Johnson of Seattle and Donald Johnson of California; and two sisters, Laverne Gencarella and her husband, Bill, and Eleanor Rhymes and her husband, Paul, all of California.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Joseph Eads Jr.
Joseph Dewey Eads Jr., 84, of Bremerton died June 12, 2002, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bremerton.
He was born June 25, 1917, in LaGrande, Ore., to Joseph D. and Cora L. (Bryant) Eads.
He married
Winnifred May Peck on Sept. 26, 1936, in Twin Falls, Idaho. She died in June 2001.
Mr. Eads served with the Army's military police during World War II. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal, the Europe-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a chipper and corker for many years, retiring in 1963.
Mr. Eads enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the American Legion and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include a son, Jack E. Eads and his wife Wilma of Port Orchard; a daughter, JoAnne Spohn and her husband Jack of Poulsbo; three grandchildren, William Eads, Wendy Gordon and Angela Anderson; and four great-grandchildren, Marc Anderson, Rachel Fisk and Jason and Kyle Gordon.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday also at Miller-Woodlawn.

Dr. Donald Olson
Dr. Donald L. Olson, 71, of Bremerton died of lung cancer June 13, 2002, at his home.
He was born June 24, 1930, in Seattle to Nels and Vera (Graves) Olson. He graduated from Brem-erton High School in 1947 and from Olympic College in 1949.
He later attended the University of Washington, leaving to serve in the Navy from 1950 to 1954. He achieved the rank of dental technician second class.
He married
Joan Miller on July 14, 1952, in Bremerton.
Dr. Olson completed dental school at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in San Francisco in 1958. He practiced dentistry in downtown Bremerton for 33 years, retiring in 1991.
He gave much of his time and energy to civic organizations throughout his life. In his youth, he had been active in Boy Scouts and took great pride in having attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Kevin and Kurt Olson, both of Seattle, and Keith Olson of Bremerton; a daughter, Karin Drew of Gig Harbor; and two grandsons, Brendon Drew and Mason Olson.
