June Holen
Lifelong Bainbridge Island resident June Ann Holen, 80, died July 21, 2002, at Island Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 28, 1922, in Seattle to Gordon and Ina Long. She graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1940.
She and her husband, Kenneth, were married
Dec. 1, 1945, in Seabold. He died in 1990.
Mrs. Holen was a homemaker. She had worked as a bookbinder.
She was a member of a CB club and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by a son, Paul Holen, and his wife, Jan, of Bainbridge Island.
At her request, no services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home on Bainbridge Island.

Betty Jo Cline
Betty Jo Cline, 65, of Belfair died of a heart attack July 22, 2002, at her home.
She was born Aug. 4, 1936, in Charleston, W.Va., to Jake and Roxie (Roe) Harding. She graduated from high school in Seattle in 1955.
Mrs. Cline retired in 1990. She had worked as a nurse and a legal secretary.
She enjoyed her spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and watching baseball. She was an avid Mariners fan.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Lott of Lebanon, Ore., and Richard Lott of Belfair; two daughters, Leslie Davies of Belfair and Lisa Phillips of Marysville; and 11 grandchildren, Jackie, Jessica, Stephanie, Jeffery, Jeremy, Mason, Dalton, Ryan, Ricky Jr., Dillon and Stevie Rae.
A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of Bonnie and Ivan Davies, 491 NE Tiger-Mission Road in Belfair.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Grayce Kelly
Grayce L. Kelly, 71, of Bremerton died of cancer July 23, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born Aug. 17, 1930, in Rolla, N.D., to Carl Magnus Strand and Rosella E. (Youngberg) Strand. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1948.
She was a member of the West Sound Arts Council and an Admiral Theatre volunteer.
Survivors include a son, Timm Kelly of Milton; two daughters, Pam Kelly of North Redington Beach, Fla., and Linda O'Neill of Fife; two brothers, Clifford Strand of Silverdale and Carl Strand of Springfield, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Brock, Dalton, Nicole and Christopher. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Strand.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Jo Allen
Josephine B. "Jo" Allen, 76, of Silverdale died July 17, 2002, at her home.
She was born July 4, 1926, in Vashon to Frank L. and Flora (Mace) Brown Sr. She was raised and educated on Vashon, part of a fourth-generation pioneer family.
She married
Dale R. Allen on April 25, 1947, in Seattle. Mrs. Allen was a homemaker and devoted to her family.
She was an avid "fisher-lady" and an accomplished oil and watercolor artist. She also enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Deborah J. Allen of Silverdale; three brothers, Frank Brown Jr. of Vashon, Richard Brown of Everett and Edward Brown of Tacoma; two sisters, Verna Belt of Seattle and Evangeline Schulz of New Mexico; two grandchildren, Jeremy Johanson and Kelly Kuhlman; four great-grandchildren; and special friend, Doris Balch of Seattle. She was preceded in death by sisters, June Caruthers, Gloria Gutierrez and Ann Haviland.
Inurnment is private.

Scotty Moore
Scotty Lee Moore Jr., 46, of Poulsbo died July 23, 2002, of cancer at his home.
He was born May 24, 1956, in Muskegon, Mich. He was raised in Muskegon, graduating from high school there in 1974.
He married
Charlene Tweiten on Oct. 6, 1984.
A Desert Storm veteran, Mr. Moore served in the Navy from 1975 until his retirement in 1997, achieving the rank of fire control system technician first class. He was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal.
At the time of his death, he was employed by Canadian Aerospace Engineering and was enrolled in the nursing program at Olympic College.
Mr. Moore's Christian faith was very important to him. He had been a member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church in Summerville, S.C., and joined Breidablik Baptist Church when he and his family moved to Poulsbo in 1997.
He enjoyed woodworking, hiking and camping.
Survivors include his wife; his father, now of Arizona; his children, Tasha, Scotty, Tangela and Crystal; a brother, Richard; a sister, Jacquie; and six grandchildren, Micah and Aedan Craig, Breanna Bolliger, Anthony Kloser and Markeva Davis.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Breidablik Baptist Church, 239 NE Lofall Road in Poulsbo.

John Holman
Former Poulsbo resident John M. Holman, 54, of Boise, Idaho, died of diabetic complications July 4, 2002, at his home.
He was born Aug. 25, 1947, in Renton to Clyde and Louise (Cheeseman) Holman. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1965 and received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1974.
He married
Jana Norby on May 30, 1970, in Great Falls, Mont.
Mr. Holman served in the Air Force from 1967 to 1971. He later worked in civil engineer/management for
28 years and received several awards of accomplishment throughout his career.
His professional career began at Roats Engineering in Poulsbo. He went on to work with the city of Winslow, the city of Redmond, Pan Am World Services on the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor, Central Washington University and more recently at Boise State University.
He had served as a member of the Poulsbo City Council. He was a member of Lions Clubs in Poulsbo and Ellensburg and the Association of Physical Plant Administrators.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shawna Holman of Seattle; a brother, Henry Holman of Bothell; and two sisters, Stella Steffes of Bothell and Patty Holman of Marysville.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sons of Norway in Poulsbo.

Rose Christerson
Rose "Rosie The Barber" Christerson, 92, of Port Orchard died July 20, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 1, 1910, in Los Angeles to Meyer and Ida (Harris) Elkins.
She married
Roy W. Christerson in 1937 in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Mrs. Christerson had been a barber for 75 years, retiring in 2000. She had owned and operated a barber shop on Bethel Road in Port Orchard for many years.
She was a member of the Bethel Grange. She enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Stan Christerson of Ocean Shores and Jim "Roy" Christerson of Port Orchard; a daughter, Jeanette Christerson of Seattle; and four grandchildren, David, Duane, John and Kalob Christerson. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Montie, Nathan, Morse and Louis Elkins.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel with interment at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Brad Phillips
Brad Alan Phillips, 49, of Bremerton died July 9, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born March 3, 1953, in Bremerton to Arthur and Ramona (Winger) Phillips. He graduated from East High School in Bremerton in 1971.
Mr. Phillips had worked as a pipefitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
Survivors include a son, Beau Hardabeck of Bremerton; two daughters, Stacie Phillips of Oregon and Grayce Leandra Phillips of Yelm; two brothers, Rick Phillips of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Scott Phillips of Marysville; a sister, Terri Phillips of Bremerton; and one granddaughter, Brianna Conn of Oregon.
A Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4215 Pine Road NE in East Bremerton.
Erika McWilliams
Erika Jane McWilliams, 73, of Bremerton died July 22, 2002, at her home.
She was born March 15, 1929, in Gmunden, Austria, to Friedl and Hans Stahlinger.
She married
Thomas H. McWilliams in Columbus, Ga., in 1960. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Mrs. McWilliams was a homemaker. She had worked at the North Perry Water Department.
She was a longtime member of the Bremerton Yacht Club and the Bremerton Tennis and Swim Club.
Mrs. McWilliams enjoyed spending time with her basset hounds, Russell and Elvis, swimming and playing cards. Other interests were snow skiing and tennis.
Survivors include a son, Michael McWilliams of Bremerton; a daughter, Sandra Neff of Jupiter, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Patty Bumcrotch and Susan McWilliams, both of Bremerton; a stepson, Jim McWilliams of Alaska; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Capt. James B. Huff, USMC.
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Tenney
Elizabeth "Betty" Mackintosh Tenney, 81, of Bainbridge Island died of cancer July 16, 2002, at her home.
She was born Feb. 11, 1921, in Yakima to Peter Grant and Jessie (Ballard) Mackintosh. She graduated as salutatorian from Yakima High School in 1939, and, in 1943, graduated cum laude from the University of Washington, where she had been president of Delta Delta Delta sorority.
She married
Richard Tenney on Nov. 12, 1946, in Yakima.
For nearly 50 years, Mrs. Tenney worked as a writer, first in radio as chief copywriter with KTYW in Yakima and as director of continuity with WSNY in Schenectady, N.Y. She later became a freelance writer for both fiction and nonfiction local and national publications, including McCall?s, Good Housekeeping, Sunset, American Heritage, Calling All Girls, Cobblestone and many others.
She was an avid interior decorator. In 1957, she won a national contest sponsored by McCall?s magazine, winning a new dining room and kitchen nook for her family?s home in Spokane.
Mrs. Tenney was a longtime member of the Women?s University Club of Seattle, the Oregon Historical Society, the California Writers Club, the UW Alumni Association and Delta Delta Delta.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Douglas Tenney of Seattle and Peter Tenney and his wife, Tracy, of Covington; a daughter, Karen Tenney of Silverdale; one brother; and five grandchildren, Peter, Paul, Andrew, Nicole and Ashley Tenney.
A private family memorial service will be held at Paradise Lodge on Mount Rainier.
