Anne Allen
Anne E. Allen, 77, of Bremerton died July 13, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Max, N.D., to John and Anna Haverluck. She served with the Women's Army Corps from 1944 to 1946.
She married
Frank Allen. He died in 1991.
Mrs. Allen had worked in retail sales at S.H. Kress in Bremerton. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Ron Allen of Bremerton; a daughter, Connie Vander Veen of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and four grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by sisters Lena, Mary, Edna and Sylvia, and by brothers John and Vernon.
Inurnment is private. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Verna Miller
Verna Virginia Miller, 70, of Port Orchard died July 17, 2002, from complications of a stroke at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Broomfield, Colo., to Charles and Blanche (Bowen) Welsh. She graduated from Henderson High School in Henderson, Colo., in 1949, attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., in 1969.
She married
Stanley L. Miller on June 7, 1986, at the Seattle Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mrs. Miller taught elementary school for 10 years before becoming an instructor in radiation control at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. She worked at PSNS for 10 years, retiring in 1989.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed researching family history.
Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Gerilynn Bingham of Seattle, Katherine Delago and Mary James, both of Port Orchard, Pamela Culley of Federal Way, and Jan Russell of Belfair; two stepdaughters, Claudine Craig of Missouri and Cheryl Fish of Texas; a sister, Eleanora Leavitt of Las Vegas; 25 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1550 Hoover Ave. SE in Port Orchard. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, also in the Hoover Avenue Building. Interment
will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Vicki Kelly
Victoria Lee "Vicki" Kelly, 51, of Poulsbo died July 18, 2002, of cancer at Harrison Hospital.
She was born July 1, 1951, in Bay Shore, N.Y., to Marion and Michael Stiriz. She graduated from North Babylon High School in North Babylon, N.Y., in 1969, from State University New York in Farmingdale, N.Y., in 1971 and from Down State Medical University in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1973.
She worked as a research biologist in New York for 10 years and went on to become a teacher. Her teaching career spanned 20 years.
She married
Robert J. "Jerry" Kelly on Aug. 8, 1998, in Portland, Ore.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Kelly had taught seventh grade science in the Central Kitsap School District in recent years at Ridgetop Junior High School and at Klahowya Secondary School. She had previously served as a substitute teacher throughout the district.
She was a member of the Poulsbo Yacht Club and the Lutheran church. She enjoyed horseback riding, boating, diving, swimming and geology.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Marion Hoffman of Southold, Long Island, N.Y.; and a sister, Barbara Herrmann of Center Moriches, Long Island, N.Y.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Poulsbo Yacht Club, 18129 Fjord Drive NE.

John McPherson
John Gordon McPherson, 80, of Bremerton died July 17, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Farmington, Ill., to William and Agnes (Russell) McPherson. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1939 and attended Olympic College for two years.
He married
Wilma F. Mason on Feb. 1, 1942, in Bremerton.
Mr. McPherson served in the Navy during World War II. He went on to work as a welder at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and to teach apprentice courses in welding at PSNS.
He was an accomplished athlete and loved baseball. He was an ardent Cardinals and White Sox fan.
Mr. McPherson was a member of the Kitsap Golf and Country Club. He also held life memberships in the Eagles and Elks clubs.
Survivors include his wife; a son, John T. McPherson of Bremerton; a brother, Alan McPherson and his wife, Jonny, of Canton, Ill.; a sister, Jeannette Putnam of Canton; and a granddaughter, Brenda B. McPherson of Bremerton.
No services are planned. Burial will be at Forest Lawn cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Jim Doucette
Former Bremerton resident James Michael "Jim" Doucette, 54, of Mossyrock died July 11, 2002, of massive heart failure at his home.
He was born Sept. 19, 1947, in Seattle to Harry and Ruth Doucette. He graduated from Mount Tahoma High School in 1966.
He married
Sheila Diane Snoey in 1967 and they were later divorced. In 1997, he married
Patty Cooper.
Mr. Doucette was a journeyman plumber/pipefitter. He had been employed by the water department in Bremerton in the early 1970s and had been involved in the construction of Naval Hospital Bremerton.
He went on to work in Renton with Kohl Excavating which worked under contract for Boeing and others.
He enjoyed life and loved being with his family.
Survivors include a daughter, J. Christine Dains of Bremerton; a son, James M. Doucette Jr. of Seattle and four grandchildren, Rayeanna, Kateri, Michael and Alexandria; his mother and stepfather, Ruth and Walter Alton of Lake City; two sisters, Loretta Lee Johannsen of Bellingham and RosaLinda Alton of Enumclaw; five brothers, Robert Doucette of Bellingham, David Doucette of Seattle, Tony Doucette of Boise, Idaho, Daniel Doucette of Mountlake Terrace and Gordon Alton of Seattle; and numerous extended family members.
Visitation was held in Morton on July 14.
Florence Ward
Florence Ward, 100, of Quilcene died July 17, 2002, in Poulsbo.
She was born April 3, 1902, in Lapwai, Idaho, to Jesse and Jeannette (Enterkine) McClanahan.
She married
Earl Ward on Sept. 23, 1920, in Port Townsend. He died in 1993.
Mrs. Ward was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Quilcene Assembly of God.
Survivors include a son, Don Ward of Quilcene; three daughters, Dorothy Marggraf of Port Hadlock, Marjorie Johnston of Port Townsend and Carol Borden of Poulsbo; a sister, Jessie Norquist of Modesto, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Earlita Rowland.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Quilcene cemetery followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Quilcene Presbyterian Church.

Marcia Patterson
Marcia Patterson, 64, of Belfair died July 17, 2002, in Belfair.
She was born Jan. 7, 1938, in Albia, Iowa, to Charles M. and Naomi G. (Williamson) Dillon. She graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1956.
She married
Charles Patterson on Aug. 18, 1956.
Mrs. Patterson was a homemaker. She was a member of the Brownsville United Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles and had been affiliated with the Girl Scouts.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Lori Patterson of Belfair; two brothers, Charles Dillon of Bremerton and Douglas Dillon of Silverdale; a sister, Karen Hansen of Bremerton; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lee Patterson in 1971.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. July 27 at Brownsville United Methodist Church with interment at Tracyton cemetery.

Frances Pugh
Frances Dorene Pugh, 73, of Bremerton died July 16, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born July 3, 1929, in Quapaw, Okla., to Troy and Hazel Hunt.
She married
Royden H. Pugh on Jan. 12, 1946, in Jasper, Mo. He died in 1981.
Mrs. Pugh enjoyed all kinds of music and loved to dance. Other interests were animals, word puzzles and caring for others.
Survivors include her companion, Richard Walck of Port Orchard; five sons, Royden E. Pugh of Tulsa, Okla., Gaylon H. Pugh of Joplin, Stanley L. Pugh of Belton, Texas, Lynn E. Pugh of Port Orchard and Lawrence C. Pugh of Bremerton; two daughters, Mary Ann Redfern of Lake Mary, Fla., and Catherine R. Pugh of Bremerton; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Port Orchard United Methodist Church, 725 Kitsap St.

Kathryn Fullerton
Kathryn Jeanette Fullerton, 78, of Poulsbo died July 16, 2002, of a stroke at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Poulsbo to Sigfred and Anna (Sommerseth) Jacobson. She graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1941.
She married
Dale Harland Fullerton on April 11, 1942, at First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo.
Mrs. Fullerton had worked as the office manager at Poulsbo Electric for many years.
She was a member of the Sons of Norway and a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo. She enjoyed spending time with her family, perpetuating the customs of her Norwegian heritage, traveling to Scandinavia and "snowbirding" in Arizona.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Gene Fullerton and his wife, Sandy, of Poulsbo and Ray Fullerton and his wife, Debbie, of Sedro Woolley; a brother, Arnold Jacobson of Poulsbo; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Mathisen.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo, 18920 Fourth Ave. NE. Arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.

Donald Smith
Donald G. Smith, 81, of Bremerton died July 17, 2002, of congestive heart failure and kidney failure in Bremerton.
He was born Dec. 7, 1920, in East Troy, Wis., to Albert and Esther (Reminger) Smith. He graduated from Burlington High School in Burlington, Wis., in 1939.
Mr. Smith became a wood pattern maker apprentice in Milwaukee in 1941. Later, after his military service, he completed a wood pattern maker apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1945.
He married
Dorothy Lightfield on May 16, 1945, in Jacksonville, Fla. She died in 1983.
Mr. Smith served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945, achieving the rank of storekeeper first class. He went on to work at PSNS as a wood pattern maker and ship's progressman for 34 years, retiring in 1974.
He married
Joyce Taulbee on June 5, 1984, in Nevada.
Mr. Smith was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Bremerton and a lifetime member of the Elks. He had volunteered with the Boy Scouts as a scoutmaster and as a coach for Pee Wee sports.
He enjoyed gardening and being a good friend and neighbor.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jeffrey Smith and his wife, Lorraine, of Seattle and Randall Smith and his wife, Lori, of Seabeck; two daughters, Joanne Hegland and her husband, Daniel, and Michelle Dawson and her husband, Greg, all of Bremerton; two brothers, Stanley A. Smith of Burlington and Delmar R. Smith of West Bend, Wis.; and six grandchildren, Bryant, Kari, Heather, April, Shawn and Kelly. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine E. (Smith) Zaspel.
