Clyde Baird
Clyde W. Baird, 86, of Bremerton died July 9, 2002, of heart failure at Harrison Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1915, in Tacoma to Henry and Ruie (Post) Baird. He attended Lincoln High School in Tacoma.
He married Norma Purdy on June 14, 1941, in Seattle.
Mr. Baird served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945, achieving the rank of motor mechanic first class. He later owned and operated a moving van business.
He enjoyed fishing and sports. He was a member of the Methodist church.
His wife survives him.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Temple in Enumclaw. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Emmagrace Ramm
Emmagrace Bliss Ramm, 93, of Bremerton died July 15, 2002, of a stroke at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bremerton.
She was born March 23, 1909, in Marion, Ill., to Eugene B. and Grace (Goddard) Bliss. She graduated from Queen Anne High School in Seattle in 1927 and from the University of Washington in 1932.
She married John B. Ramm on June 23, 1932, in Seattle. He preceded in death in 2000.
Mrs. Ramm had worked as an audiologist with the Bremerton School District for 18 years, retiring in 1974.
She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed stamp collecting. She also was a member of Lincoln Avenue Bible Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include two sons, John D. Ramm of Kingston and Robert Ramm of Bremerton; three daughters, Virginia G. Ramm of Woodinville, Kathie Ramm of Seattle and Barbara Jayne of Redmond; a sister, Mary B. Skidmore of Seattle; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church. Interment icon will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to Lincoln Avenue Bible Church, 1250 Lincoln Ave., Bremerton, WA 98337.

Myrtle Perelli
Myrtle M. Perelli, 95, of Port Orchard died July 15, 2002, at her home.
She was born March 23, 1907, in North Dakota, to George Albert and Mathilda (Haugrude) Moore.
She married William Severson on Oct. 1, 1926, in Roseau, Minn. He preceded her in death in 1976.
She worked for 10 years as a licensed practical nurse at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil. She retired in 1970.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Port Orchard. She enjoyed ceramics, quilting and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, William Severson and his wife, Virginia, of Minnesota and Luverne Severson of Port Orchard; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Darrell and Duane Severson.
Visitation will be from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Interment icon follows at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Joe Kutz
Ronald Joseph "Joe" Kutz, 74, of Kingston died July 9, 2002, in Seattle.
He was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Seattle to John A. and Helen Victoria (Hammer) Kutz. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1947 and attended Olympic College.
He married Marilyn J. Heinisch on Jan. 15, 1948, in Bremerton. They were married 54 years.
Mr. Kutz served with the Merchant Marine during World War II from 1946 to 1948.
He went on to work for more than 40 years as a master mariner with the state ferry systems in Alaska and Washington. He retired in 1987.
Mr. Kutz was an active member of the Kingston Cove Yacht Club and the Elks 420 in Juneau, Alaska. He enjoyed boating, golfing, fishing, RV travel, "snowbirding" in Arizona, home building and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; a son, David Kutz and his wife, Janice, of Kingston; two daughters, Patricia E. Stoll and her husband, Jim, of Poulsbo and Kerilee R. Vester and her husband, Barry, of Covington; three brothers, John A. "Jack" Kutz of Bainbridge Island, Alan W. Kutz and his wife, Marilyn, of Kingston and Robert L. Kutz and his wife, Helen, of Federal Way; a sister, Shirlee A. Clementz and her husband, Ben, of Port Ludlow; six grandchildren, Denise Kutz Bettge and her husband, Derek, Cindee Kutz Jones and her husband, Chad, Aaron and Megan Stoll, and Joshua and Carly Vester; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Henry and Jenna; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mr. Kutz' life will be at 11 a.m. Friday at The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove, 22272 Foss Road NE in Poulsbo. A gathering of family and friends follows at 1 p.m. at the Kingston Cove Yacht Club.
Memorial donations may be made to the Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society, P.O. Box 9731, Seattle, WA 98109-9731.

Donald Christopherson
Former Bainbridge Island resident Donald H. Christopherson, 73, of Bremerton died of cancer July 12, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Seattle to Henry and Ingeborg (Mae) Christopherson of Bainbridge Island.
In his early years, he played the saxophone in the Bainbridge High School Band, personally placing second in state competition. He graduated from BHS in 1947 and attended the University of Washington.
Mr. Christopherson was inducted into the Army in 1952. He transferred to the Army Reserve as a cook in 1954 and received his discharge in 1956.
He became a certified public accountant in 1957. He worked with Group Health for 18 years, retiring because of health problems.
Mr. Christopherson's love of music continued throughout his life and he played in several bands. He also enjoyed boating, fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Donna and their daughter, Barbara Ann Miller and her husband, Bruce; his former wife, Sonja, and their children, Denise Christopherson, Lynn Brunner and her husband, Donald, William and his wife, Jo, and Dean and his wife, Julia; and 11 grandchildren, Robby and Dennis Miller, Tina and Brian Chew, Allan McDonald, Inga, Andrea and Rachel Christopherson, Salena and Hannah Christopherson, and Wesley Brunner; and two great-grandchildren, Kevin and Nate Miller. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry, a daughter, Sandra Lee Chew and a granddaughter, Zoe Ann Miller.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Olympic View Assembly of God, 11632 Silverdale Way NW. A reception follows at Silverdale Park in Old Town Silverdale. Burial will be at Port Blakely cemetery on Bainbridge Island. Arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County or to a cancer fund.

George Petties
George Thomas Petties, 51, of Bremerton died of liver failure July 5, 2002, in Bremerton.
He was born Sept. 8, 1950, in Pennsylvania to William Vernon and Myrtle (Fielder) Petties. He graduated from Lafayette High School in Buffalo, N.Y., and later attended college.
Mr. Petties served in the Army from 1969 to 1970, achieving the rank of private first class. A Vietnam veteran, he was awarded the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm leaf and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device.
He married Darlynn Rochelle Ferguson on July 24, 1999, in Bremerton.
Mr. Petties had worked as a chimney sweep and car salesman. His favorite pastime was playing the harmonica.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Corey Petties of Buffalo, N.Y.; a daughter, Maria Petties of Houston; two brothers, William Petties of Bremerton and Jamie Petties of Buffalo; and one grandson, Javon Tariq Petties of Houston.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.
Cremation is under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Paul Brandfus
Paul Harold Brandfus Sr., 83, of Port Orchard died July 14, 2002, at his home.
He was born April 6, 1919, in Franklin, Neb., to Joseph Henry and Myrtle Lenora (Goings) Brandfas.
He married Barbara Anne Long on March 8, 1941, in Payette, Idaho. She preceded him in death in July 2001.
Mr. Brandfus served in the Army from 1944 to 1946, achieving the rank of corporal. He also had served with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Boise, Idaho.
He later worked as a welder at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1982.
Mr. Brandfus was an avid outdoorsman and Mariners fan. He also was affiliated with the Methodist church.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Brandfas Jr. and his wife, Bobbie, of Bremerton and Robert Brandfas of Port Orchard; three brothers, Jim and Leonard Brandfas, both of Tacoma, and Charlie Brandfas of Puyallup; three sisters, Sally Baker of Yelm, Mabel Cook of Tacoma and Hazel Hostler of Puyallup; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by six siblings.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Lewis Napolitana
Lewis Francis Napolitana, 95, of Bremerton died July 11, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Feb. 25, 1907, in Logansport, Ind., to Pellgrino and Mary (Asenda) Napolitano. He graduated from Kokomo High School in Kokomo, Ind.
Mr. Napolitana served in the Navy from 1927 to 1947, achieving the rank of chief petty officer. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Service Medal with five Battle Stars and two Philippine Liberation Medals with two Bronze Stars.
He later worked in the supply department at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for over 20 years, retiring in 1965.
He married Mary Hoskin on Oct. 7, 1938. She preceded him in death in 1976.
Mr. Napolitana was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 269, the American Legion and the Kitsap Senior Singles Club, all in Bremerton, the Port Orchard Eagles, the Sons of Norway, and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton. He was an avid salmon and trout fisherman and also enjoyed dancing.
Survivors include a son, Roy DeBoer and his wife, Bea, of Port Orchard; a niece, Phyllis Clark of Kokomo; a nephew, Roger Clark of Kokomo; an uncle, Frank Beatrice of Kokomo; three grandchildren, Nicole Miller and Eric and David DeBoer; and five great-grandchildren, Devlan, Alena, Brent and Julliana Miller, and Ericka DeBoer. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Tony Napolitano; and two sisters, Martha Napolitano and Mary Delslager.
A rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. today at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, followed by a funeral Mass there at 11 a.m. and a 1:30 p.m. graveside service at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Harold Trimble
Harold V. Trimble, 86, of Bremerton died July 13, 2002, in Bremerton.
He was born Sept. 13, 1915, in Weches, Texas, to Julius A. and Maude Lee (England) Trimble. He attended Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Tenn.
He married Frances L. Allen on May 16, 1942, in Kenton, Texas.
Mr. Trimble was a minister who preached in a number of states and served as a missionary to the Philippines. His final ministry was with the Church of Christ Bremerton.
He enjoyed writing poetry. Much of his poetry has been set to music.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, John D. Trimble of Stone Mountain, Ga., Terry J. Trimble of Arrington, Tenn., and Richard D. Trimble of Okanogan; a daughter, Rebecca L. Peterson of Houston; two sisters, Pauline Hermann of Abilene, Texas, and Maye Mason of San Antonio, Texas; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by siblings Raymond and Morris Trimble, Pernecia and Wilma Tyer and Vannie Maude Starr.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be in Crockett, Texas.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Mary Jean Reyes Young
Mary Jean Reyes Young, 38, of Bremerton died July 10, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born May 9, 1964, in Guam to Jose and Librada (Castro) Reyes. She graduated from Cashmere High School in 1983.
She married Jason Jay Young on June 27, 1998, in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii.
Mrs. Young enjoyed arts and crafts and camping. She was a member of Eastgate Assembly of God in Bremerton.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Brieanna Leialoha Young; nine brothers, Jose Jr., Enrique and Benny, all of Wenatchee, Michael and Ralph, both of Bremerton, Frank of Bellingham, and Tomas, Eddie and Anthony, all of Maui; three sisters, Chilang R. Hensley of Everett and Linda and Julie, both of Wenatchee. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Atanacio and Librada Castro and Jose and Maria Reyes.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Assembly of God, 1541 Sylvan Way.
