Rondle Billingsley
Rondle Lee Billingsley, 66, of Bremerton died of ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, June 26, 2002, at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1935, in Stonewall, Okla., to Bob and Edith Betty Billingsley. He graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma.
Mr. Billingsley served in the Navy from 1954 to 1974. He was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation Medal and Joint Service Commendation Medal.
He went on to work 20 years in civil service, retiring in 1994.
Mr. Billingsley had performed as a clown with the Shriners until he was physically unable to do so.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn of Everett; a sister, Helen Hansen of Olympia; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Elliott and Pauline Smith.
A private service will be held Friday at the Illahee State Park Pier. Memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Tacoma.

Scott Walls
Former Kitsap County resident Scott W. Walls, 33, of Clinton, Conn., died June 29, 2002, at his home.
He was born Dec. 18, 1968, in New London, Conn., to Michael G. and Sheila (Rogers) Walls. He graduated from Olympic High School in 1986. He participated on the wrestling team at OHS, competing at the state level.
Mr. Walls graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., in 1991 and from the Yale School of Medicine Physician's Associate Program in 1995.
Mr. Walls worked as a physician's associate at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, Conn.
He was a member of the Branford Evangelical Free Church in Branford, Conn.
Survivors include his wife, Kelly Boland Walls; his parents, now of Poulsbo; two brothers, Michael P. Walls of Napa, Calif., and Jeff M. Walls of Poulsbo; his maternal grandmother, Louise T. Rogers of Mystic, Conn.; his paternal grandparents, Dorothy F. and Nino Airoldi of Vallejo, Calif.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. His wife is expecting a daughter, Emma Elizabeth Walls, in September.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Branford Evangelical Free Church with burial at Center cemetery in Branford.
Friends and family may call W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today at (203) 488-3414. The funeral home is at 504 Main St. in Branford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Emma Walls Fund or to Branford Evangelical Free Church, both c/o of the church at 231 Leetes Island Road, Branford, CT 06405.

Donald Bailey
Donald J. Bailey Sr., 69, of Olalla died June 28, 2002, of a heart attack in Bremerton.
He was born April 1, 1933, in Cudahy, Wis., to Manford and Edith (Armbruster) Bailey.
Mr. Bailey served in the Army from 1950 to 1954. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star and the United Nations Service Medal.
He later worked as a pipefitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1978.
He married Donna Jean Bailey in January 1971 in Puyallup. She preceded him in death in 1998.
Mr. Bailey enjoyed pets, restoring Volkswagen "bugs, " woodworking and gardening. He was a member of Grace Bible Church in Port Orchard.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Bailey and Donald J. Bailey Jr., both of Olalla, and Bob Bailey of Titusville, Fla.; two daughters, Kathy Bartlett of Oakley, Calif., and Patty Nuttall of Port Orchard; a brother, Richard Bailey of Olalla; three sisters, Blanche Guerin of Indiana, Jean Eischen of Tacoma and Deloris Anderson of Federal Way; and 11 grandchildren, Casey, Sondra, Scott, James, Janelle, Roger, Jessilyn, Debra, Jimmy Jr., Briannen and Tyler. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ellenrae Bartlett, in 1981.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, also at Rill Chapel. Interment icon will follow at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Donald Murray
Donald D. Murray Sr., 77, of Port Orchard died from complications of heart disease June 28, 2002, at Regional Hospital in Tukwila.
He was born March 20, 1925, in Baudette, Minn., to Clarence and Martha (Miller) Murray. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1943 and from Olympic College.
Mr. Murray served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 as a pharmacist's mate second class. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He married Donna M. Jurgens on June 7, 1947, in Bremerton. They had been married for more than 55 years.
Mr. Murray worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 30 years, retiring as a supply supervisor in 1980.
He enjoyed his family. Other interests were boating and salmon fishing.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Donald Murray Jr. of Gig Harbor; a daughter, Dee Ann Broome of Port Orchard; a sister, Margaret Peterson of Port Orchard; six grandchildren, Camille Ludlow of Gig Harbor and Meagan Schultz, Kyle, Kory and Kellen Hudson and Bryce Broome, all of Port Orchard; and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation.

R. Howard Behrens
R. Howard Behrens, 90, of Bremerton died June 28, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Aug. 25, 1911, in Brownsville to Jerry A. and Gina (Hilstad) Behrens. He graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1930 and from the Montana School of Mining in Butte in 1937.
Mr. Behrens had worked as a mining engineer in Alaska, Canada and in Mexico for 50 years. He had lived in Bremerton for the past two years.
He married Rosa Gaitan on April 5, 1964, in Guanacevi, Durango, Mexico.
His favorite pastimes were fishing, gardening, clam digging and working on machinery.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Behrens and his wife, Nohemi, of Seattle; two daughters, Gina Behrens of Bremerton and Sandra Behrens of Durango, Mexico; a sister, Marjorie Munro and her husband, Gordon, of Tracyton; and four grandchildren, Samantha, Jerry, Herman and Orlando Behrens. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Behrens.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Island Lake cemetery in Poulsbo. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital Orthopedic Guild, P.O. Box C-5371, Seattle, WA 98105.

Virginia Frost
Virginia Frost, 73, of Silverdale died June 10, 2002, at Alterra Clare Bridge of Silverdale Assisted Living.
She was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Newell, S.D.
She married Harold Frost on Aug. 30, 1947, in Lead, S.D. Mr. Frost died two days after his wife on June 12, 2002.
The Frosts had lived in Silverdale since 1997. Previously, they had been residents of Shelton for eight years and Bellevue for 25 years.
Mrs. Frost was a homemaker and devoted mother of nine.
She was a Catholic and had been active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Other interests were crochet, knitting and reading.
Survivors include seven sons, Stephen of Houston, Eric of San Diego, Karl of Reno, Nev., Paul of Georgetown, Ill., Joe of Kirkland, Ken of Bellevue and David of Port Orchard; two daughters, Carolyn Al Khoury and Amy Frost, both of Seattle; a sister, Thelma Wolcott of Seattle; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Painter.
A funeral Mass was celebrated June 21 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Lynnwood.
Inurnment was at Holyrood Catholic cemetery in Edmonds.
Arrangements were under the direction of Beck's Funeral Home in Edmonds.

Harold Frost
Harold Frost, 76, of Silverdale died June 12, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Jan. 21, 1926, in Omaha, Neb. He graduated from the University of Washington.
He married Virginia Frost on Aug. 30, 1947, in Lead, S.D. Mrs. Frost died two days before her husband.
The Frosts had lived in Silverdale since 1997. They had been residents of Shelton for eight years and Bellevue for 25 years.
Mr. Frost served as a Merchant Marine with the Coast Guard from 1944 to 1946. He was a radio officer, achieving the rank of lieutenant.
He went on to work as an engineer with Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1985.
Mr. Frost had been very active as a deacon in the Roman Catholic church. Following his retirement, he had worked as a chaplain at Providence Medical Center in Seattle and had volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Survivors include seven sons, Stephen of Houston, Eric of San Diego, Karl of Reno, Nev., Paul of Georgetown, Ill., Joe of Kirkland, Ken of Bellevue and David of Port Orchard; two daughters, Carolyn Al Khoury and Amy Frost, both of Seattle; 11 brothers and sisters; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Frost.

Emily Gaulding
Former South Kitsap resident Emily Eudora Gaulding, 88, died June 26, 2002 in Bothell.
She was born Dec. 28, 1913 in Pittsburg, Texas to Milton and Winona (Shook) Harbison.
She married Vergil H. Gaulding Sept. 18, 1938 in Dumas, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Mrs. Gaulding and her husband built the log home at the corner of Banner and Sedgwick roads in South Kitsap in 1952. She was a member of the Homemakers Club of South Colby. She also was a Methodist.
She is survived by a son Clark and his wife, Cookie, of Bainbridge Island; a daughter, Margaret Olson, of Shoreline; sister Edna Mae Hogan of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Tracy Olson, Lisa Kaepernick, Jill Gaulding, Amy Borberg and Erin Gaulding; and six great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a son, John S. Gaulding.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sedgwick cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral HOme at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to your local hospice.

Scott Walls
Former Poulsbo resident Scott W. Walls, 47, died June 29, 2002, in his Clinton, Conn. home.
Friends may call the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home in Branford, Conn., at (203) 488-3414 from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Branford Evangelical Free Church.

Howard Dolezal
Howard Joseph Dolezal, 81, of Port Ludlow died of cancer Aug. 24, 2002, at Martha and Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo.
He was born Nov. 27, 1920, in Killdeer, N.D., to Joseph and Helen (Burda) Dolezal. He graduated from high school in Killdeer in 1938.
He married Angeline "Angie" Ekle on Oct. 18, 1942, in Las Vegas. The couple was married for 60 years.
Mr. Dolezal served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre with the Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945 as a machinist, achieving the rank of technical sergeant fifth class. He was awarded the Philippines Liberation Medal with one star.
He went on to work as a nuclear/turbine engineer with General Electric from 1955 until his retirement in 1977. After his retirement, he served as a consultant from 1984 to 1992.
Mr. Dolezal was a member of Chimacum Lutheran Church of The Redeemer. He helped construct the church building.
He enjoyed travel and had traveled extensively abroad while working for General Electric and after his retirement. Growing plants and gardening were also favorite pastimes.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lonny Dolezal and his wife, Anna, of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Rick Dolezal of Everett; a daughter, Cheryl Petruccelli and her husband, Tony, of Marysville; a brother, Wayne Dolezal and his wife, Pauline, of Grants, N.M.; and six grandchildren, Dawn McArthur and her husband, Ken, Jennifer Price and her husband, DJ, Gretchen Schindler, Laura Petruccelli, Julie and Melanie Dolezal; and a great-grandson, Alex McArthur.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 7 at Chimacum Lutheran Church of The Redeemer. Inurnment will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.
Memorial donations may be made to Chimacum Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 45 Redeemer Way, Chimacum, WA 98365.
