Babe Marshall
Lucille "Babe" Marshall, 82, of Silverdale died Aug. 24, 2002, at her home.
She was born Oct. 22, 1919, in Soap Lake to Henry and Ida (Schlag) Allert. She graduated from Everett High School and from teachers college at Western Washington University.
She married Louis Marshall in 1942 in Everett. He died in 1993.
Mrs. Marshall was a homemaker who enjoyed bridge and playing the electric organ. She also had been a longtime volunteer at the Silverdale Food Bank.
Survivors include a son, Greg Marshall of Alameda, Calif.; a daughter, Kay Cee Reeves of Everett; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Allert.
No public services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Virginia Parris
Virginia Gertrude Parris, 82, of Poulsbo died Aug. 26, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Dec. 26, 1919, in Portland, Maine, to William and Nellie E. (Barnes) Grosser. She attended high school in Portland.
She married Andrew Parris on Sept. 22, 1967, in Keyport.
Mrs. Parris was a homemaker. Previously, she had been a horseback riding instructor.
Square dancing was a favorite pastime. She was an original member of the Poulsbo Prominaders.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, William T. Kiley and his wife, Sheri, of Kingston and Wayne Parris and his wife, Diane, of Poulsbo; two daughters, Nancy Day and her husband, Layne, of Silverdale and Pamela Ridgway of Bremerton; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Grosser.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove, 22272 Foss Road NE in Poulsbo. Private interment will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

James Dickinson
James Richard Dickinson, 80, a resident of the Washington Veterans Home at Retsil, died Aug. 20, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1922, in Galesburg, Ill., to Clyde O. and Gertrude B. (Godsil) Dickinson. He graduated from Providence Academy in Vancouver, Wash.
Mr. Dickinson served in the Coast Guard.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Outings with his friend George Morgan were of special importance to him.
Oil painting and playing guitar were favorite pastimes. In younger years, he also had been a golfer.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Abel of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Sally Beutz of Renton. He was preceded in death by siblings Michael, Phillip and Bonnie Dickinson, and Kathleen Dawn Roses.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Washington Veterans Home at Retsil. Burial will be in the cemetery at Washington Veterans Home under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Alice Angle
Alice Mae Angle, 74, of Silverdale died Aug. 14, 2002, at her home after a long illness.
She was born May 19, 1928, in Altoona, Ala., to Andrew and Norma (Smith) Sweeton.
She had worked as a waitress for 40 years, retiring in 1994.
She was a member of the Eagles in Silverdale and was affiliated with the Baptist church. Gardening was a favorite pastime.
Survivors include a son, David Angle and his wife, Denise, of Detroit; a daughter, Clara Bassler of Silverdale; a brother, Grady Sweeton of Alabama; two sisters, Magdelene Puz and Margaret Baker, both of Alabama; four grandchildren, Michelle Fischer and her husband, Brian, of Silverdale, Steven Angle of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Rob and Roger, both of Detroit; and three great-grandchildren, Riley and Brady Fischer, both of Silverdale, and a great-granddaughter of Chattanooga.
A private memorial service was held Aug. 18. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Gene Armstrong
Eugene H. "Gene" Armstrong, 95, of Port Orchard died Aug. 20, 2002, at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard.
He was born Feb. 21, 1907, in Portland, Ore. He had attended Oregon State University in Corvallis.
He married Mary B. Poynter in Portland in 1934. She died in 2000.
Mr. Armstrong owned a piano and organ store in downtown Bremerton for 30 years, retiring in 1974. He also played piano professionally for many years.
He was part of a group that performed big band music during World War II. He continued performing with various trios and quartets until the 1950s.
Mr. Armstrong had been a member of the Bremerton Rotary Club and the Kitsap Golf and Country Club.
His survivors include two sons, Eugene H. Armstrong of Vaughn and David H. Armstrong of Port Orchard; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sept. 7 at Haven of Rest Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Highway 16 in Gig Harbor. A graveside service and reception follow, also at Haven of Rest.
Memorial donations may be made to the music department at Elim Lutheran Church, 5911 E Hillcrest Drive, Port Orchard, WA 98366.

Marguerite Peterson
Former Port Orchard resident Marguerite A. Peterson, 89, of Entiat died Aug. 15, 2002, at Highline Care Center in East Wenatchee.
She was born April 26, 1913, in Nebraska to Carl and Louise (Braasch) Wolter.
She married Hugo B. Peterson in August 1945 in Port Orchard. He died in 1990.
Mrs. Peterson continued to live in Port Orchard until 1994, when she moved to Entiat to be near her daughter.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Port Orchard and had been a member of Pythian Sisters, also in Port Orchard. She enjoyed her family and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Merrill of Entiat; two grandchildren, Rebecca Altergott of Wenatchee and Bruce Thompson of Entiat; three great-grandchildren, Jenee Smith of Port Orchard, Lisa Anthis of Entiat and Jarrod Rogers, stationed in Colorado with the Army; and four great-great-grandchildren, Cherice Rowley and Zachary Smith, both of Port Orchard, and Cameron and Olivia Anthis, both of Entiat.
A graveside service was held Aug. 19 at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church Lanscaping Fund, 4885 Hovde Road, Port Orchard, WA 98367.

Helen Ring
Helen C. Ring, 91, of Bremerton died Aug. 20, 2002, at Canterbury Manor in Bremerton.
She was born March 12, 1911, in Eureka, Calif., to Augustine and Isabelle Louise (Campbell) Campbell. She graduated from high school there in 1929.
She married Taft I. Ring on Oct. 16, 1929, in Berkeley, Calif. He died in 1995.
Mrs. Ring was active in the Episcopal Church, participating in the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia and serving as past president of the Diocesan Altar Guild, past president of the Episcopal Church Women and presiding officer of the Eighth Province of the Episcopal Church. The church awarded her the Bishop's Cross.
She had been active in P.E.O. for more than 50 years and the Eastern Star for 50 years. She also held a membership in the Seattle Yacht Club and was a past president of the club's women's group.
Survivors include a son, Taft C. Ring of Oak Hill, Va.; a daughter, Erla R. Smith of Penn Valley, Calif.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 700 Callahan Drive in Bremerton. Inurnment will be at St. Mark's Cathedral in Seattle. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Clara Sundberg
Clara Marie Sundberg, 94, of Poulsbo died Aug. 20, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born May 14, 1908, in Poulsbo to Christian and Barbro (Ronden) Hilton. Her family immigrated to Poulsbo from Norway around 1905.
She married Herman Sundberg on May 30, 1927, in Port Orchard.
Mrs. Sundberg was a homemaker. She enjoyed her family and home life.
Survivors include two sons, Harold E. Sundberg and his wife, Shirley, and Raymond W. Sundberg and his wife, Nell, all of Poulsbo; a brother, Olaf Hilton and his wife, Lillian, of Longview; a grandson, Gregory D. Sundberg and his wife, Sheila, of Seattle; and one great-grandson, Ryan N. Sundberg of Seattle.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove, 22272 Foss Road in Poulsbo. A private committal will be at Poulsbo City cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Harbor House Alzheimer's, 19360 Viking Ave. NW, Poulsbo, WA 98370.

Clarence Braaten
Kitsap County pioneer Clarence O. Braaten, 92, of Port Orchard died Aug. 21, 2002, at his home.
He was born Dec. 17, 1909, in Olalla to Austin O. and Mary (Hoven) Braaten, the second eldest of nine children. He attended school in Olalla.
Mr. Braaten's primary enjoyment in life was his work. He worked as a commercial fisherman until the age of 70 and as a general contractor.
He and his brother, Bert, owned and operated Braaten Brothers Construction Company in Port Orchard, retiring in 1968.
Mr. Braaten had helped build the Admiral Theatre in Bremerton. He also had owned and operated the Port Orchard Motel, now the Vista Motel.
He had traveled throughout the United States and Canada by car, motorcycle and motorhome.
Mr. Braaten was devoted to his family and is survived by a son, Jim Braaten and his wife, Billie, of Port Orchard; three grandchildren, Robin Swanson and her husband, Scott, of Kingston, Holly Braaten of Port Orchard and Jason Braaten and his wife, Heather, of Port Orchard; three great-grandchildren, Aubree and Jimmy Braaten and Russell Swanson; two brothers, John and Dean Braaten; and four sisters, Alice Anderson, Mary Wright, Irene Lavo and Aggie Stornelli. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Frances I. (Johnson) McDonald; his oldest sister, Clara Fagerude; and his brother and business partner, Bert Braaten.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Navy Yard City Bible Church, 3648 F St. in Bremerton. Burial is under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.

Ike Dahl
Former Kitsap County resident Isaac "Ike" Dahl, 89, of Port Angeles died of heart failure Aug. 15, 2002, in Port Angeles.
He was born March 5, 1913, in Seabeck to Daniel and Didrikka (Refvik) Dahl. He began logging in the Pacific Northwest at the age of 13.
He married Patricia Maude Castle on Dec. 31, 1939, at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Bremerton. The couple lived in Shelton, Glacier, Centralia, Ukiah, Calif., and Silverdale before moving to Port Angeles in 1965.
Mr. Dahl had worked briefly at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He spent most of his life working in the logging industry, retiring in 1980.
He enjoyed the outdoors, stream and saltwater fishing, hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Daniel Dahl and his wife, Virginia, of Seattle and Lake Sutherland; two daughters, Patricia Allen of Bremerton and Teresa Dahl of Kirkland; two sisters, Martha Martin of Marysville and Ingeborg Cicelski of Monroe; a brother, David Dahl of Fortuna, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Hjalmer Dahl of Seabeck and Haldor Dahl of Tillamook, Ore., and two sisters, Anna Foy and Dena Hagen, both of Marysville.

Jennifer Feenstra
Jennifer Ann Feenstra, 33, of Bremerton died Aug. 22, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born Dec. 13, 1968, in Seattle to Richard and Bonnie Feenstra. She graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1987.
She had worked at the Naval Supply Center in Bremerton.
She was a member of Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo. She enjoyed her Christian faith through Bible study, church activities and Christian music.
Survivors include her mother, Bonnie Couillard of Grapeview; her stepmother, Deborah Ann of Yakima; a sister, Robin L. Eyster of Otis Orchard; two nieces, Katelyn and Rebecca; two nephews, Andrew and Jacob; her grandparents, Melvin and Vernis Hardwick of Tennessee; an uncle, Aaron Sanford of Gladstone, Mich.; and her best friend, Cheryl McDonald of Poulsbo. She was preceded in death by her father and her grandmother, Flora Feenstra.
