Felix Blackman
Felix Hays Blackman, 83, of Bremerton died Nov. 27, 1998, at his home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1915, in Saint Louis to Hays and Mary (Affolter) Blackman. He was raised in Silsbee, Texas, graduating from Silsbee High School in 1934. He also attended San Francisco State College and Golden Gate Baptist College, earning a bachelor's degree in theology in 1949.
On July 5, 1942, he married
Nadine Ruth Alston at a Baptist encampment at Palacious, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1988.
Mr. Blackman served in the Army Air Corps from 1945 to 1946, achieving the rank of corporal. He worked as a ship scheduler at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of the American Legion; the Masonic Lodge in Beaumont, Texas; the Nazarene Church; and Sylvan Way Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Robert of Reedsport, Ore., Charles of Bremerton and William and Michael, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Elizabeth McDorman of Bremerton; three brothers, William of Walnut Creek, Calif., Charles of Riverforest, Ill., and Richard of Killeen, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a son, David, in 1952.
Inurnment services will be at noon Dec. 4 at Forest Lawn cemetery, with memorial service following at the Sylvan Way Baptist Church, Bremerton. Cremation at Cherry Grove Crematory.
Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Louis Weiss
Louis Christian Weiss, 82, of Suquamish died Nov. 30 1998, at his home.
He was born Jan. 18, 1916, in Sturgis, S.D., to Louis Joseph and Veronica (Meyer) Weiss. He was raised in Sioux Falls, S.D., where he attended elementary school. He graduated from Washington High School in Los Angeles in 1934 and from UCLA in 1938.
On Sept. 2, 1943, he married
Patty Campbell in Evanston, Ill. She preceded him in death in 1987.
Mr. Weiss worked for the Food and Drug Administration for 27 years. Through the years, he became chief chemist and then district manager. When he retired in 1972, he was the regional manager for the Southwest district that covered five states for the FDA.
He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and the Poulsbo Yacht Club.
Survivors include two sons, Richard of Los Angeles and Robert of Bellevue; a sister, Mildred of Los Angeles.; and one grandchild, Christopher Weiss of Bellevue.
Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 5 at St. Olaf's Catholic Church, 18943 Caldart St., Poulsbo. Committal service will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.

Jeremy Frey
Jeremy James Frey, 24, of Port Orchard died Nov. 29, 1998, in Port Orchard.
He was born Jan. 8, 1974, in Rapid City, S.D., to Donald and Judy (Hamilin) Frey. He lived in the Port Orchard area for the past 15 years, attending South Kitsap schools.
On June 24, 1995, he married
Luella Whittleton in Port Orchard.
He had worked as a framer in construction for several years.
Survivors include his wife; his father and stepmother of Port Orchard; his mother of Rathdrum, Idaho; a daughter, Tamra of Port Orchard; two sisters, Jacque Dutcher of Spokane and Jeannette of Port Orchard; his maternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, Jack and Jan Hamlin of Spokane; his maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Arlan and Frank Froemming of Spokane; and his paternal grandmother, Margaret Frey of Spokane.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 4 at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Frank Prouse
Longtime Bremerton resident Frank Prouse died Dec. 2, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital of leukemia.
Mr. Prouse worked as a general manager in a grocery chain for 30 years, followed by civil service employment.
Survivors include his wife, Muffie (Nereson) Prouse of Bremerton; a son, Cliff of Bremerton; three brothers, Bob, Dave and Ken; and four sisters, Janet Tate, Marge Scott, Joyce Pate and Doris Schaunaman. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Burrer and a brother, Bernard.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Silverdale Lutheran Church, Ridgetop Boulevard.

Jan Wright
Jan L. Wright, 43, of Bremerton died Nov. 30, 1998, at Port Orchard Care Center.
She was born Feb. 21, 1955, in Vancouver, Wash., to Arnold and Evelyn (Schiffhauver) Orloske. She was raised in Woodland, graduating from Woodland High School in 1973.
On Dec. 19, 1976, she married
Jack E. Wright in Vancouver, Wash.
Mrs. Wright worked as a waitress.
Survivors include her husband; her parents; a son, John of Silverdale; four brothers, Ronald of Woodland, Gale of Olympia, Randy of Kalama and Terry of Gilbert, Ariz.; and three sisters, Shirley Lewellen of Spokane, Marlene Smith of Woodland and Susan Riggans of Port Orchard.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Kenneth Smith
Kenneth Charles Smith, 72, of Port Orchard died Nov. 27, 1998.
He was born Jan. 30, 1926, in Moscow, Idaho.
Mr. Smith worked as an engineer at various shipyards.
He was a member of the Harper Evangelical Free Church and the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.
Survivors include four sons, Tim of Sumner, Douglas of Seattle, and Michael and Steve, both of Kent; a brother, James of Moscow, Idaho; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in August of this year.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 4 at Harper Evangelical Free Church in Port Orchard. Inurnment will be at Haven of Rest Memorial Park, Gig Harbor.

Elva Nadeau
Longtime Bainbridge Island resident Elva I. Nadeau, 98, died Nov. 26, 1998, in Portland, Ore.
She was born March 30, 1900, in Reno, Nev., to Andrew and Maude Archibald. She moved to Olympia in 1916.
On Dec. 30, 1923, she married
Louis Nadeau. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. Nadeau was a member of the Eastern Star in Olympia and the Belles and Beaus Square Dancing Club.
Survivors include three sons, Donald of Hawthorne, Calif., James of Port Orchard and Warren of Poulsbo; a sister, Ruth Mand of Lynnwood; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two children, Joan Ness and Dick Nadeau.
Private services were conducted.

George Perry
George Joseph Perry, 48, of Port Orchard died Nov. 29, 1998.
He was born Sept. 30, 1950, in Portsmouth, Va., to Leo and Margaret (Brady) Perry. He was raised in Bremerton, graduating from Star of the Sea Catholic School in 1968. He later attended Olympic College for two years.
Mr. Perry worked as a house painter for Covert Painting, painting custom homes on Bainbridge Island until his retirement.
Survivors include his companion of 20 years, Sharon Ostrem; his parents; three sons, Leo Jr. and John, both of Port Orchard, and David of Tacoma; and two sisters, Marge Lent of San Ramon, Calif., and Susan Kneer of San Francisco.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2, with rosary following at 6 p.m, both at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 3 at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Chapel.
Interment will be at Miller Woodlawn cemetery.

Judy Loop
Judy Marie Loop, 52, of Port Orchard died Nov. 29, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital of a sudden heart attack.
She was born April 26, 1946, in Bremerton to Lyle and Joy (Eyler) Gauthier. She was raised in Bremerton, attending West Bremerton High School.
On Dec. 31, 1983, she married
Herbert Loop in Port Orchard.
Mrs. Loop worked in her earlier years as a waitress, bartender and restaurant manager. Most recently, she worked as a secretary, receptionist and office manager for real-estate and engineering companies. The past five years she was office manager at Herb Loop and Associates Commercial Real Estate.
She was a member of The Volunteer Search Network and the Birth Mother's Support Group.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Joseph McGill of California; a daughter, Jeramee of Port Orchard; a stepson, Kevin of Port Orchard; two stepdaughters, Samantha Wooff and Robin Scott, both of Port Orchard; two brothers, Jim Gauthier of Montana, and Ben Gauthier of Bremerton; and nine grandchildren, Daniel, Claire, Matthew, Lesli, Taylor, David, Jordan, Mason and Jonathon.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 4, with Memorial services immediately following, both at Rill Chapel.
