Donald Ferson
Donald Moffitt Ferson, 86, of Poulsbo died Aug. 15, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.He was born Jan. 23, 1916, in Sunnyside to Chester Ellsworth and Mary Elsie (Williams) Ferson. He completed his education in Sunnyside.
He married
E. Elaine Gasser on March 26, 1970, in Kent.
Mr. Ferson was retired from a career as a heavy equipment driver in the construction business.
He was a devoted husband and family man who enjoyed playing the organ. He had been active in helping senior citizens by taking them shopping and to church on Sundays.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Darrell Ferson and his wife, Judy, of Kent, and Galen Ferson and his wife, Linda, of Roy; three daughters, Gwen Seacrist and her husband, Wendell, of Hillsboro, Ore., and Francille Kiehn and her husband, Arnold, and Michelle Kingsmore and her husband, Grant, all of Melba, Idaho; three stepsons, Kirk Wollin of Indianola, Michael Kelley of Renton and Paul Kelley of Kent; two stepdaughters, Marsha Pellegrini of Bremerton and Sally Duckworth and her husband, Ron, of Poulsbo; a brother, Wayne Ferson and his wife, Ruth, of Sunnyside; a sister, Eloise Noel of Woodland; 20 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Roen, who died of breast cancer in 1992; and by three sisters, Florence Evans, Eleanor McBride and Zora Terrel.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, 7800 Van Belle Road, Sunnyside, WA 98944.
Inurnment is under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.

William Robbins
William L. Robbins Sr., 74, of Port Orchard died of an aneurysm Aug. 17, 2002, at Auburn Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Boy River, Minn., to Oliver and Ruby (Grendt) Robbins. He attended Chimacum High School.
He married
Eldean L. Kyser on Sept. 30, 1950, in Longview.
Mr. Robbins had served with the Merchant Marine following World War II. He went on to work for 13 years with the Peninsula Feed Store in Port Orchard and for 25 years with Wilkins Distributing, also in Port Orchard, retiring in 1991.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and travel. He was affiliated with the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, William L. Robbins Jr. of Seattle and Gary E. Robbins of Belfair; two daughters, Leslie Hawkins and her husband, Glenn, of Manning, Ore., and Robin L. Wood of Port Orchard; two brothers, Ed Robbins of Port Hadlock and Dan Robbins of Huntsville, Ala.; six grandchildren, Shaun Hawkins, Renee Scott, Rachel Robbins, Ginger Hawkins, Brittany Wood and Lane Robbins.; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Robbins.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Interment will be at Mist cemetery in Mist, Ore.

Delores Arntz
Former Kingston resident Delores L. Arntz, 61, of Deer Park died of cancer Aug. 15, 2002, at her home.
She was born March 27, 1941, in Lenoir, N.C., to John Horace and Irene Correll. She graduated from Hudson High School in Hudson, N.C., in 1959 and completed her training in nursing at Charlotte Memorial Hospital in Charlotte, N.C., in 1962.
During the 1960s, she served as a lieutenant and registered nurse with the Air Force and worked as a stewardess-nurse with the Great Northern Railroad.
She married
Gerald L. "Jerry" Arntz on Sept. 5, 1967, in Edmonds. The couple then moved to Kingston.
Mrs. Arntz had worked as a Realtor, an administrative nurse at Martha and Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo and as women's ministry director at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo where she was an active member and Sunday school teacher.
Her Christian faith was very important to her, exhibited by her willingness to help others.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Derek Arntz of Seattle and Charlie Arntz of Poulsbo; a daughter, Melissa Garden and her husband, Christo-pher, of Oak Harbor; a foster daughter, Carrie Zacher of Longview; two brothers, Carroll Correll of Virginia and Tyron Correll of North Carolina; three sisters, Bunny Parnell of Georgia, Karen Wilke of Port Orchard, and Robin Correll of Florida; and three grandchildren, Kyla, Haley and Annabella Garden.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Christ Memorial Church.
Memorial donations may be made to a Christian charity of the donor's choice in memory of Delores Arntz.

Irene Frost
Irene Elizabeth Frost, 75, of Bremerton died Aug. 15, 2002, at her home.
She was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Tacoma to Edward and Lena (Threlkeld) Hall. She graduated from high school in Washington state.
She married
Climuth Frost on May 30, 1946. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Mrs. Frost was a homemaker. Her husband worked in construction, and she had traveled with him throughout the Northwest and to Asia and Saudi Arabia.
Her favorite pastimes were bridge, bowling, sewing, cooking, knitting and quilting.
Survivors include a son, Carl Frost and his wife, Georgia Goltsos, of South Natick, Mass.; two daughters, Carole Sherwood and her husband, Robert, of Bremerton and Pamela Frost and her husband, Arthur King, of Amboy; five sisters, Evelyn Hancock and Nona McKellar, both of Bellingham, Doris Wheeler of Ferndale, Betty Brooks of Surprise, Ariz., and Phyllis Hope of Magalia, Calif.; four grandchildren, Teresa, Laura, Crystal and Costa; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Ruth, Helen, Clyde, Robert, Ernest, Edward, Ralph and Paul.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home followed by a funeral service there at 11 a.m. and a graveside service in the mausoleum at Miller-Woodlawn.
Thomas Rustad
Thomas B. Rustad, 89, of Poulsbo died from complications of several ailments Aug. 17, 2002, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo.
He was born April 30, 1913, in Port Townsend to Axel and Karen Rustad. Until the age of 7, he lived with his parents and three older brothers at the Marrowstone Point Light-house where his father served as the lighthouse keeper.
In 1920, the Rustads moved to Virginia Point in Poulsbo. Mr. Rustad received his elementary education at Keyport and Pearson schools, graduating from North Kitsap High School in 1931.
He went to Alaska in 1933, becoming a self-employed commercial fisherman in 1934. He continued in this career until his retirement in 1981 and enjoyed fishing throughout his life.
Mr. Rustad was a life member of the Sons of Norway and the Elks.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara James and her husband, Ernie, and Geraldine McMullen and her husband, Walter, all of Poulsbo; a son, Thomas N. Rustad and his wife, Patty, of Bremerton; seven grandchildren, Angel, Andrea, Jeff, Scott, Todd, Tom and Methia; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edgar, Carl and Norman and by a grandson, Bryce.
A celebration of Mr. Rustad's life will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Sons of Norway in Poulsbo.
Elizabeth Sexton Kidder
Elizabeth Sexton Kidder, 84, of Bainbridge Island died of heart failure Aug. 16, 2002, in Seattle.
She was born March 31, 1918, in Winchester, Mass., to Isaac Edward and Nellie (Fraser) Sexton. She graduated from Brimmer and Mary High School in Boston in 1936 and from Bennett College in Millbrook, N.Y., in 1938.
She married
Arthur A. Kidder Jr. on March 21, 1942, in Winchester. He preceded her in death in 1989.
Mrs. Kidder was a homemaker.
She was affiliated with the Bainbridge Island Visually Impaired Support Group, the Wing Point Country Club on Bainbridge Island and the Freedom Library in Freedom, N.H. Favorite pastimes were painting, needlepoint, knitting and rug hooking.
Survivors include three daughters, Lynda Kidder Scheer of Coconut Creek, Fla., Dianne Kidder and her husband, Dan Johnston, and Sally Kidder Davis and her husband, Bob, all of Bainbridge Island; eight grandchildren, Andrew J. Scheer Jr., Christopher A. Scheer, Timothy A. Robinson, Jessica E. Robinson, Elizabeth F. Robinson, Sarah S. Davis, Tiffany M. Davis and Joshua P. Davis; and a great-grandson, Tyler D. Robinson. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Edward Sexton, Jane Prescott and Helen McIntyre.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Chapel cemetery in Barrington, R.I., under the direction of Monahan, Kelly, Drabble, Sherman Funeral Home of Providence, R.I. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

George Edgley
George A. Edgley, 76, of Poulsbo died Aug. 16, 2002, in Poulsbo.
He was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Texas to Hugh and Vera (Beck) Edgley. He graduated from Gresham High School in Gresham, Ore., in 1943.
He married
Ruth Bowman on March 3, 1950, in Gresham.
Mr. Edgley served with the Air Force during the Korean War. He went on to work as an electronics technician at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center at Keyport for many years, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo. He enjoyed volunteering with Little League sports, backpacking and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, David Edgley of Langley, Dennis Edgley of Bremerton, Timothy Edgley of Ashland, Wis., and Phillip Edgley of Poulsbo; a daughter, Nancy Phillips of Poulsbo; two brothers, Alfred Edgley of Tacoma and Charles Edgley of Arvada, Colo.; two sisters, Vera Davidson of Springdale, Ore., and Mary Beth Iruelli of Eugene, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Edgley.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Memorial Church. Cremation is under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.

Victor DeCloedt
Victor S. DeCloedt, 93, of Bremerton died Aug. 17, 2002, at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard.
He was born June 5, 1909, in Belgium to Saraphine and Marie Leonie DeCloedt.
He married
Gladys Palbitska. At the time of her death in 1991, they had been married
for 58 years.
Mr. DeCloedt had served in the Marine Corps. He later worked with the food service department at Naval Hospital Bremerton for 30 years.
He enjoyed landscaping and travel.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Cox of San Diego and Juanita Thompson of Bremerton; and nine grandchildren.
No services will be held.
Jason Long
Jason Matthew Long, 23, of Port Orchard died Aug. 17, 2002, from injuries sustained in a fall while climbing Mount Cruiser in the Olympics.
He was born Sept. 21, 1978, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Richard and Hilary (Hermanson) Long. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1997 and from the University of Washington in 2001.
Mr. Long had worked as an electrical engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for three years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, mountain climbing, bike riding and hiking.
Survivors include his parents and his grandparents, Don and Donna Scott. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Wiley and Annebelle Long and Russell Allan Hermanson.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Thursday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Interment
will be at Haven of Rest cemetery in Gig Harbor following the funeral service.

Joe Westaby Jr.
Joseph Charles "Joe" Westaby Jr., 76, of Port Orchard died Aug. 15, 2002, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Camas.
He was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Madison, Lake County, S.D., to Joseph Charles Westaby Sr. and Edna Mae (Van Nostrand) Westaby. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1944.
He married
Irene Ann "Renee" Kimes. She preceded him in death in 1994.
Mr. Westaby was retired from a career with the Marine Corps. He achieved the rank of master sergeant, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
He enjoyed dancing, motorcycling, camping, fishing and reading historic and Western novels.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Westaby of Salt Lake City and William Westaby and his wife, Juanita, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three daughters, Sherry Bryant and her husband, Bob, of San Mateo, Calif., Candaceileen Roswell and her husband, Jim, of Belfair and Ellen Nelson and her husband, Greg, of Salt Lake City; a sister, Beulah Borelli of Stockton, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Charles Westaby III, and a granddaughter, Savanna Clair Taylor.
A memorial service will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Kitsap Room at the Givens Community Center in Port Orchard.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
