Bud Cameron
Former Bremerton resident Robert George "Bud" Cameron, 65, of Toledo, Wash., died Aug. 4, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 28, 1936, in Seattle to George T. and Mary C. (Webber) Cameron. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1956.
Mr. Cameron worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring as an inspector for nondestructive testing.
His favorite pastimes were river fishing and gardening. He also was an avid fan of the Huskies, Seahawks and Mariners.
Mr. Cameron served as president of the Friends of the Cowlitz, an organization dedicated to the restoration of fishing in the Cowlitz River. He also was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Survivors include his companion, Suzie Gallagher of Toledo, and her daughter, Nicole; three sons, Douglas Cameron of Longview, Chuck Cameron and his wife, Julie, of Bremerton and Todd Cameron and his wife, Judy, of Kodiak, Alaska; a daughter, Crystal Cameron of Las Cruces, N.M.; a sister, Mary Anne Schneider and her husband, Dick, of Sequim; 11 grandchildren, McKenzie, Jason, Sarah, Starla, Rachel, Karen, Tomas, Delisa, Kenneth, Brittany and Hillary; and four great-grandchildren, Noah, Emma, Caitlin and Hannah.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McVicker Fir Lawn Funeral Home, 8351 N Fifth St., Toledo, WA 98591. A reception follows the service at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Toledo.
Memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Cowlitz, P.O. Box 925, Toledo, WA 98591.

Mary Ruth Price
Mary Ruth Price, 84, of Poulsbo died Aug. 3, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born July 26, 1918, in Birmingham, Ala., to Victor and Lucy (Chandler) Goodman.
She graduated from high school in Rome, Ga., in 1938 and from Berry College there in 1942. She received a degree in library science from the University of California-Los Angeles in 1963.
She was a member of the Poulsbo Senior Citizens Center and Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo. She loved life, traveling and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy S. Hacker of Poulsbo; and two grandchildren, Carrie and Shannon Seranella.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Christ Memorial Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association Memorial and Honors Program, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.

Jerry Reynolds
Jerome Franklin "Jerry" Reynolds, 66, of Bremerton died Aug. 1, 2002, of lung cancer at his home.
He was born Dec. 30, 1935, in Nelsonville, Ohio, to Ralph and Edna Reynolds. His father died when he was a child, and his mother raised her children alone.
Mr. Reynolds was educated in Ohio. He went on to serve as a submariner with the Navy from 1953 to 1968.
He achieved the rank of petty officer first class and received an honorable discharge after losing his left arm in the line of duty. He later worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 1968 to 1977 in combat systems.
Mr. Reynolds was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Lions Club and the Fleet Reserve Association.
He enjoyed life. His hobbies were working on cars and collecting model cars.
Survivors include two sons, David Jerome Reynolds of Omro, Wis., and Michael John Reynolds and his wife, Rachel, of Savage, Minn.; a daughter, Lori Diane Varecka and her husband, Michael, of Maple Grove, Minn.; one brother, Tom Reynolds of North Royalton, Ohio; two sisters, Rosemary Bornhoeft and her husband, Jack, of Westerville, Ohio, and Venus of Nelsonville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Katie, Erin, Casey, Emily and Zachory. He was preceded in death by a sister, Vera, and a brother, John.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate his life Aug. 6 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 239 in Bremerton. His ashes will be scattered at sea from a submarine by the Navy.

Mary Louise Williams
Mary Louise Williams, 52, of Bremerton died Aug. 3, 2002, in Poulsbo.
She was bornSept. 21, 1949, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Ester V. and Lou England (Jones) Williams. She graduated from high school in San Francisco.
She was a homemaker.
Her special interests were cosmetology and handiwork. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include her mother, Lou England Wilson of Oakland, Calif.; three sons, Cortez Sullivan of California, and Mack and Carlus Williams, both of San Leandro, Calif.; two daughters, Lisa Sullivan-Ross and Angel England Williams, both of San Leandro; two brothers, Dwayne Morgan of San Leandro and Anthony Scott of San Francisco; two sisters, Glinder Simpson of Bremerton and Shirley Ann Wilson of San Francisco; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Keith Williams; and a sister, La Janese Williams.
Services in California are pending. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Keith Archer
Keith Stanley Archer, 74, of Belfair died Aug. 5, 2002, from complications after surgery at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Seattle.
He was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Omaha, Neb., to Monty and Faye (Bales) Archer.
He married Daphne Faye Phillips. She died in 1983.
Mr. Archer served in the Navy after World War II. He was discharged from the Navy as a disabled veteran.
He went on to work several years as a Mason County sheriff's deputy.
He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include a son, Michael Archer and his wife, Alice, of Belfair; a daughter, Susan Murphy and her husband, Dan, of Belfair; two brothers, Thomas Archer of Belfair and Kenneth Archer of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Shannon and husband Heath, Megan, John and Ashley; and one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie. He was preceded in death by brothers Robert and William Archer.
Inurnment will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Cowboy Jim Porter
James McKinley "Cowboy Jim" Porter, 75, of Kingston died July 31, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born May 9, 1927, in Salt Lake City.
Mr. Porter was a retired plumber.
Survivors include his companion, Frances Birkholm of Clallam Bay; three sons, Darren, Lane and Rick Porter, all of Everett; a daughter, L. Dyke of Everett; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 409 Silbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036.

John Buckhout
John Thomas Buckhout, 79, of Seabeck died Aug. 3, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Oshtemo, Mich., to Milo and Ottie (Wisher) Buckhout. He graduated from Martin High School in Michigan in 1940.
He married Alvenia DeJaynes on July 16, 1955, in Seattle. She died in 1979.
Mr. Buckhout served in the Navy from 1941 to 1962, achieving the rank of boatswain's mate first class. He was awarded a Bronze Star.
He later worked with Pacific Car & Foundry in Seattle for17 years, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Buckhout enjoyed traveling and fishing.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheri Ward and her husband, Ken, of Seabeck; two brothers, Joseph and Robert Buckhout, both of Michigan; and a sister, Blanche Wager of Michigan.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Steven James
Steven B. James, 52, of Bremerton died Aug. 2, 2002, at his home.
He was born Dec. 21, 1949, in Spokane.
Mr. James served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the Army.
He went on to work as a house painter. His favorite pastimes were fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his mother, Norma Allen of Port Orchard; his father, Ray James of Bremerton; a son, Kris Brummond of Port Orchard; two daughters, Jennifer Miller of Tacoma and Danielle James of Bremerton; and two grandchildren, Evan and Lila, both of Tacoma.
At his request, there will be no services. Interment icon will be at Mount Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.

Norman Billington
Former Bremerton resident Norman James Billington, 83, of Lewis, Colo., died July 25, 2002, in Lewis.
He was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Gulnare, Colo., to Norman I. and Violet (McKiddie) Billington.
Mr. Billington served in the Army during World War II. He later worked as a meat cutter in the Bremerton area.
He enjoyed fly-fishing and card games.
Mr. Billington was the last surviving member of his family.
A graveside service was held July 30 at Cortez cemetery in Cortez, Colo., under the direction of Ertel Funeral Home.

Ruth Davis
Ruth Elizabeth Davis, 81, of Bremerton died Aug. 4, 2002, at Ampy's Adult Family Home in Bremerton.
She was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Menlo, Kan., to Kenneth and Zelma June (Young) Thomas. She graduated from Menlo High School in 1937 and from Multnomah Bible College in Portland, Ore., in 1951.
She married Clarence H. Davis Jr. on July 3, 1941, at Annapolis Church of Christ in Port Orchard.
He preceded her in death in 2001.
Mrs. Davis worked in a clerical position at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
She loved to help people and was a longtime member of Navy Yard City Bible Church. She was a reflexologist and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include a son, Paul Davis and his wife, Joan, of Port Orchard; four daughters, Joy Jensen and her husband, Dave, and JoAnn Repine and her husband, Harry, all of Bremerton, Janette Horn and her husband, Dennis, of Bolivia, and Sharon Adams and her husband, Jim, of Salem, Ore.; a brother, Kenneth Thomas and his wife, Juanita; five sisters, Doris Hardman, June Clarr and her husband, Bard, Wilma Easley and her husband, Carlos, Elvera Curles and Beulah Mimms and her husband, Dalton; 12 grandchildren, John, Lisa, Jamezz, Robert, Eric, Anthony, Alicia, Leslie, David, Lynette, Kevin and Connie; and four great-grandchildren, Phillip, Danielle, Ellis and Derek. She also was preceded in death by a son, Clarence H. Davis III, and a granddaughter, Ruth Horn, at age 18.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Navy Yard City Bible Church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to Navy Yard City Bible Church, 3648 "F" St. in Bremerton, WA 98312.

Bud Seay
Guymon R. "Bud" Seay, 74, of Port Orchard died of cancer Aug. 2, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Mosheim, Tenn., to Tol and Anne (Gray) Seay. He graduated from Mosheim High School in 1944.
He married Marion Christman on Aug. 30, 1946, in Seattle.
Mr. Seay served in the Navy from 1945 to 1971, achieving the rank of senior chief. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After his military service, he went to work at Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Station at Keyport for 15 years. He retired in 1986.
Mr. Seay was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting deer and elk.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, John Seay of Port Orchard, Michael Seay of St. Louis and Donald Seay of Bremerton; two daughters, Cheryl Clark of Shelton and Cindy Hawkins of Bremerton; three brothers, Jack, Rusty and Raymond Seay, all of Mosheim; a sister, Emma Lou Fincher of Mosheim; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Vincent and Lloyd Seay.
A private graveside service will be Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
