Phyllis Monroe
Phyllis Eileen Monroe, 76, of Poulsbo died July 30, 2002, at her home from complications of diabetes.
She was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Claytonville, Ill.
She married
Gene F. Monroe on April 6, 1947, in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Mrs. Monroe was a homemaker who was devoted to her family and friends. She also participated in her husband's career as an officer in the Navy.
She was accomplished at sewing, cake decorating, gardening and ceramics. Garage sales were a special interest.
Survivors include her husband, retired Navy Lt. Gene F. Monroe; a son, Brian Monroe of Keyport; two daughters, Phyllis Spencer and her husband, John, and Cynthia Foley and her husband, Thomas, all of Poulsbo; and six grandchildren, Genie, Stacie, Kelly, Thomas Jr., Marissa and John Jr.; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Gene F. Monroe Jr., in 1973.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Christine Harvey Wetzsteon
Christine Marie Harvey Wetzsteon, 28, of Bremerton died July 24, 2002, at Swedish Hospital in Seattle after a battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 14, 1973, in Bellevue to Larry and Nancy Harvey. She graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1992 and later attended Edmonds Community College.
She was devoted to her family and enjoyed being with them. Reading was a favorite pastime.
Survivors include her husband, Tim Wetzsteon; her parents, now of Poulsbo; two daughters, Emily and Abby, both of Bremerton; three brothers, Craig Harvey of Renton, Sean Harvey of Poulsbo and Scott Harvey of Brier; a sister, Amy Harvey of Poulsbo; and her grandparents, Missy and Earl Hunsperger of Tacoma and Bee Russell of Bainbridge Island.
A memorial service will be at noon Monday at Christ Memorial Church, Eighth and Hostmark, in Poulsbo.

Roger Wood
Former Bremerton resident Roger L. Wood, 63, of Mercer Island died of a heart attack July 25, 2002, at the Lake Washington Kidney Center.
He was born June 23, 1939, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Harold and GeorgeAnn Wood. He graduated from West High School in Bremerton in 1957.
Mr. Wood had been employed by Standard Oil and Northwest Airlines. He was retired.
He had volunteered as a firefighter on Mercer Island for many years. He enjoyed travel.
Survivors include his wife, Sally (Markham) Wood; four daughters, Terrilynn Nicklin of Bainbridge Island, Elizabeth Gray of Silverdale, Keri Young of Bellevue and Callie Patterson of Camano Island; two brothers, Lary Wood of Issaquah and David Wood of Bremerton; a sister, Patty Beals of LaFayette, Colo.; and six grandchildren, Cory and Ryann Nicklin, Angel, Aimee and Allison Gray, and Haylee Young.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Wood.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 1575 145th Place SE, Bellevue, WA 98007.

Alice Blye
Former Bremerton resident Alice Blye, 50, of Tacoma died July 27, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma after a long illness.
She was born Jan. 27, 1952, in Martinez, Calif., to Neville and Gay (Kendricks) Cameron. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, Calif., in 1970 and later attended Tacoma Community College.
She enjoyed interior decorating and hosting family and friends in her home.
Survivors include her former husband, Darryl Blye of Walla Walla; two sons, Tjuan Blye of Tacoma and Perry Blye of San Diego; a daughter, Deyadra Blye of Seattle; three sisters, Wanda Reddick and Rosemary Reddick, both of San Diego, and Diane LaFlaur of Rockhill, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Devyan and Corey Blye.
A memorial service is being planned.

Vivian Hendrickson
Vivian M. Hendrickson, 73, of Bremerton died July 24, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 12, 1929, in Minnesota to Thomas and Grace (Procter) Winger.
She married
Lyle S.E. Olsen. He preceded her in death.
She married
Robert E. Hendrickson. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hendrickson had worked as a bartender for 35 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Penny Hanke and Melodie Nelson, both of Port Orchard, and Stephanie Olsen of Belfair; three sisters, Doris Scott of San Diego, Bonnie Mitchell of Michigan and Lois Zamecnik of Florida; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, David M. Olsen, and a brother, Gerald Winger.
At her request, there will be no services.
Ernest Pischel
Ernest Paul Pischel, 73, of Belfair died July 17, 2002, at American Lake Veterans Administration Hospital in Tacoma.
He was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Coleman, Mich. He graduated from the University of Chicago in 1949.
He married
Dixie Butterfield. She preceded him in death in 1994.
Mr. Pischel served in the Navy from 1946 to 1947. He was a seaman first class.
He went on to work as an architectural engineer and to own a resort and restaurant at Bush Point on Whidbey Island. He retired in 1975.
Mr. Pischel was a member of the Eagles, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed working on cars, drawing, boating and fishing.
Survivors include three daughters, Christine Heggenes of Clinton, Cathleen Pischel of Las Vegas and Carline McIntyre of Lynnwood; a brother, K.C. Butler of Bremerton; and seven grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Sandra Loudy
Sandra Lou Loudy, 60, of Clark Fork, Idaho, died on Sept. 24, 2002, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
She was born on Nov. 30, 1941, in Huntington, W.Va., to Harold and Mary Loudy. She grew up and attended schools in Port Orchard, graduating from South Kitsap High School.
She married
Joseph Goss on February 12, 1961, and they were later divorced. She married
James Doll in 1977 and the couple moved to Clark Fork in 1980. She worked as a caregiver in the Clark Fork area for several years.
She enjoyed reading, canning, gardening and her friends.
She is survived by two sons, Brian Lincoln Goss of Belfair and Paul Loran Goss of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Kelli Lynn Fifield of Mead; three sisters, Liz Stockton of Port Orchard, Becky Edson of Seattle and Debbie Little of Federal Way; a brother, Harold Loudy Jr. of Seattle; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Coffelt's Moon Chapel in Sandpoint, Idaho, with Pastor Jimmy Cox of the River Valley Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Heron, Montana cemetery.

Cindy Johnson
Cindy Johnson, 48, died on Sept. 25, 2002, at her home in Silverdale.
She was born Dec. 15, 1953, in Bremerton to Ralph and Dorothy Elkins Grace.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1972 and attended Olympic College and the University of Washington Nursing School.
She married
Ron Johnson Aug. 2, 1986, in Belfair.
Mrs. Johnson was the owner-operator of Kitsap Hospitality Services.
Survivors include her husband and a daughter, Chloe Quinn Johnson, living at home; a brother, Gene Grace of Bremerton; and two sisters, Judy Callaghan of Port Orchard and Cheryl Anderson of Belfair.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Rill Chapel. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Daniel B. Sherwood
Daniel B. Sherwood, 36, of Bremerton died on Sept. 26, 2002, at his home in Bremerton.
He was born on July 14, 1966, in Bremerton to Steve and Diane Barnett Sherwood.
He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1985 and owned Empire Nightclub in Bremerton the past five years.
His hobbies included music.
He is survived by his father; his mother; his step-father, Arthur Hart; and his step-grandparents, Arthur and Evelene Hart of Bremerton.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Lane cemetery under the direction of Pendleton Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Roy Sandahl
Roy Christian Sandahl, 71, of Bremerton died Sept. 26, 2002, of a heart attack at his home.
He was born April 4, 1931, in Bellevue to Roy Christian and Mildred Mary (Wheeler) Sandahl Sr. He graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1949.
Mr. Sandahl served in the Navy from 1948 to 1952, achieving the rank of boatswain's mate third class. He was awarded the Korean Service Ribbon with one star, the United Nations Service Medal, the Navy Occupation Medal and the China Service Medal.
He worked as a dispatcher for concrete companies in San Diego and Los Angeles. While living in Kitsap County, he worked with Headstart, as a finish carpenter and silversmith, and owned and operated the Kingston Inn, which his parents also had owned.
Mr. Sandahl also volunteered at the Keyport Naval Undersea Museum.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Sandahl; a son, Ron L. Sandahl Jr. of Seattle; two daughters, Michelle Nichol and her husband, Paul, of Kingston and Renee Hoglan and her husband, Pat, of Poulsbo; a stepson, Lonnie D. Hushman; a sister, Rosemary Harrison of Turner, Ore.; and three grandchildren, Sean and Brian Hoglan and Jennifer Held; and one great-grandchild, Cody Held.
A memorial graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Kingston cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton with cremation at Cherry Grove Crematory in Poulsbo.
Jeanne Loomis
Jeanne Sophia Loomis, 84, of Poulsbo died Sept. 24, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born Sept. 5, 1918, in Mason, Mich., to Schuyler L. and Eula (Foerch) Marshall. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, Mich., and Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) in East Lansing.
She married
Stanley R. Loomis on June 11, 1949, at the First Methodist Church in St. Johns. Mr. and Mrs. Loomis were Master Gardeners and enjoyed traveling together throughout the United States and Canada.
Upon her retirement from the trust department of Clinton National Bank in St. Johns, Mrs. Loomis became a volunteer at Clinton Memorial Hospital there. Her father, a former publisher of the Clinton County Republican News, helped establish the hospital.
Mrs. Loomis was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband; a son, Theodore Schuyler Loomis, and his wife, Megan Somerville-Loomis, of Seattle; a sister, Martha Tillotson of Beaver Creek, Ohio; and a brother, Bill Schuyler Marshall Jr. of Santa Maria, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Marshall, and sisters Ruth Clohset and Mary Stuckey.
There will be no funeral. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel at Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo. A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date. Interment
will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.
