Ruth Pickett
Ruth Meyer Pickett, 88, of Bremerton died of natural causes Oct. 28, 2002, at Alterra Clare Bridge nursing home in Silverdale.
She was born Dec. 17, 1913, in Ponca, Neb., to Robert R. and Louise (Meyer) Page.
She married
Robert L. Pickett on Feb. 3, 1943, in North Hollywood, Calif. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Survivors include three sons, Robert L. Pickett of Poulsbo, James T. Pickett of Bremerton and Dennis P. Pickett of Sammamish; a daughter, Karyl L. Edwards of Bremerton; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Constance Hansen, and a brother, Robert Page.
At the family's request, there will be no services. Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Crematory in Poulsbo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Bremerton.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Duane Logan
Duane Ray Logan, 60, of Bremerton died Oct. 28, 2002, of heart disease in Bremerton.
He was born Feb. 5, 1942, in Tacoma to Horace Lewis Logan and Winnifred Blanche (Goodard) Logan. He graduated from West High School in Bremerton in 1961.
He married
Doreen Adams on Nov. 1, 1987, in Bonney Lake. She preceded him in death in 2000.
Mr. Logan worked as a sheet metal mechanic in Shop 17 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 14 years, retiring because of a disability in 1989.
He was a member of the Poulsbo Eagles. He enjoyed baking and gardening.
His survivors include three sons, Byron Logan of Poulsbo, Brock Logan of Olympia and Dean Logan of Olalla; two brothers, Horace "Bud" of Silverton, Ore., and Eddie of Comox, British Columbia; a sister, Bernardine Berg of Tacoma; and five grandchildren.
A brother, Maurice Logan of Tacoma, preceded him in death in August.
A celebration of his life will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Poulsbo Eagles, 4230 NE Lincoln Road.

Dorothy Zane
Dorothy G. Zane, 87, of Port Orchard died Oct. 29, 2002, in Port Orchard.
She was born April 17, 1915, in Victoria, British Columbia, to Daniel and Ethel (Neighbour) Zane. She graduated from Belmont High School in Los Angeles and from California Baptist College in Riverside, Calif.
She married
Merchant Marine Capt. Henry E. Zane in 1937 in Los Angeles. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Mrs. Zane was a homemaker. She also was a school teacher.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sinclair Ward, in Port Orchard. While living in Utah and California, she was active in her church and with PTA, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
Her favorite pastimes were cooking, baking and canning.
Survivors include a son, Timothy Zane of Manzanilla, Mexico; and two daughters, Susan Lehman of Moapa, Nev., and Judith Dotson of Port Orchard; and six grandchildren.
A memorial will be held in Veyo, Utah.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Joan Steinmetzer
Joan Conrad Steinmetzer, 70, of Belfair died Oct. 3, 2002, of a brain tumor at Port Orchard Care Center.
She was born Aug. 10, 1932, in Clallam Bay to pioneers Elmer and Vivian (Sands) Critchfield. She spent her early childhood in logging camps in Sekiu and Neah Bay.
After a brief move to Seattle, her family settled at their Dry Creek ranch near Port Angeles. In 1948, she married
Larry Conrad.
For many years, the couple made their home in Port Angeles, raising five children.
In later years after their divorce, Mrs. Conrad moved to the Kitsap Peninsula, where she married
Don Steinmetzer of Belfair.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Laurie Baker and husband, Chris, of Port Angeles, Cindy DeLapp and husband, Tim, of Friday Harbor and Lindy Conrad of Lynnwood; two sons, Sean Michael and his wife, Weng, of West Germany and Timothy of Seattle; three stepchildren, Corrine Surette of Port Orchard, Cindy Theis of Belfair and Dan Steinmetzer of Bremerton; a brother, Bud Critchfield of Sequim; a sister, Elsie Judd of Port Angeles; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
An informal graveside gathering will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Angeles Memorial Park, Highway 101 and Monroe Road, in Port Angeles. Arrangements are under the direction of Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle.

Tasha Supit
Natasha Isabella "Tasha" Supit, 13, of Bremerton died after a short illness Oct. 28, 2002, at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma.
She was born March 5, 1989, in Fort Ord, Calif., to Hans and Peggy Supit. She was an eighth-grade student at Bremerton Junior High School.
While attending Mountain View Middle School in Bremerton, Tasha was an honor student and was recognized as student of the month for April 2002. She also received a national physical fitness award.
She loved music, playing the piano and the violin. She also wrote poetry and, in fifth grade, was presented with a first-place award for one of her poems.
Her favorite pastimes also included sewing, drawing and sports. She participated in soccer and swimming.
Survivors include her parents and her sister, Samantha, all of Bremerton; and her grandmother, Olga Kountul of Indonesia.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton.

Arthur Davis
Arthur Davis, 78, of Bremerton died Sept. 26, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Longmont, Colo., to Lawrence and Myrtle (Kuntz) Davis. He graduated from Berthoud High School in Berthoud, Colo., in 1942 and attended Olympic College.
He married
Patricia C. Atherton. She died in 2000 after 54 years of marriage.
Mr. Davis served in the Navy as a hospital corpsman, retiring as a senior chief after 25 years. He participated in three wars.
He went on to become a corrections officer at Purdy Women's Correctional Facility. He worked there for 18 years, retiring in 1989.
Mr. Davis loved to fish and was an avid reader. He was affiliated with the Catholic faith.
His survivors include a son, Michael T. Davis of Bremerton; a foster daughter, Vicki Trochie of Bremerton; a brother, Richard L. Davis of Oklahoma; and two grandchildren, Robin "Michele" (Davis) Nelson and Wendy (Davis) Bevill, both of Savannah, Ga.
At his request, no services will be held. Inurnment will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.

Virginia Hillman
Virginia Elizabeth Hillman, 87, of Poulsbo died Oct. 16, 2002, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo.
She was born June 7, 1915, in Story County, Iowa, to Walter W. and Flora R. (Potee) Lowery. She graduated from high school in Hollandale, Minn.
She married
Kenneth W. Hillman on May 2, 1935, in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hillman was a homemaker. She was very active in civic organizations while her children were growing up in Iowa.
She worked with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Rainbow Girls and 4H and held a position on the board of the farm bureau. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, served on the Pi Phi Advisory Board and participated in PEO Chapter BX in Sun City, Ariz.
Her survivors include two daughters, Sharon Duncan and her husband, Verne, of Hansville and Jacquelyn Otero and her husband, George, of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandsons, Steve Hillman of Silverdale, Kevin Otero and his wife, Gina, of Geneva, Switzerland, and Jeff Otero of Billings, Mont.; and two great-grandchildren, Grant and Hailey Otero of Switzerland.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Inurnment will be at Forest Home cemetery in Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo and Weir Funeral Home in Iowa.

Hope Edes
Hope J. Edes, 96, of Poulsbo, formerly of Bellevue, died Oct. 6, 2002, in Poulsbo.
She was born Nov. 26, 1905, in East Providence, R.I., to James G. and Emma (Crumley) Johnson.
She married
Paul Bradley Edes on Dec. 31, 1927, in New York City. He died in 1986.
Mrs. Edes worked with Crissey's Flowers in Seattle for more than 10 years, retiring in the 1950s.
She had been a member of the Overlake Golf & Country Club in Bellevue, the Skagit Golf & Country Club in Mount Vernon and the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle.
Her survivors include two daughters, Emmary Chapple and her husband, Doug, of Bellingham, and Paulette Waggoner and her husband, Ross, of Kingston; five grandsons, Dan Waggoner and his partner, Jeannine, of Quilcene, Brad Waggoner and his wife, Helen, of Bainbridge Island, Kevin Waggoner and his wife, Susan, of Kingston, Brent Cunningham and his wife, Karin, of Sitka, Alaska, and Shawn Cunningham and his wife, Bonnie, of Bellingham; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Brett, Kailee, Alisha, Megan, Griffen, Holly, Rebecca and Mikala. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jessica Perry of Washington, D.C.
A private family memorial will be held Sunday in Bellingham. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Robert Moen
Robert Leslie Moen, 45, of Seabeck died Oct. 13, 2002, at his home.
He was born Feb. 5, 1957, in Seattle to Robert M. and Margaret (Curtis) Moen. He was raised and educated in the Seattle area, graduating from Highline High School in Burien in 1975.
Mr. Moen was a plumber with Stirrett-Johnsen for several years, then went into business with Roy Hawkins at West Coast Mechanical. Both are Kitsap County businesses.
He enjoyed racing motorcycles, cars and karts. Fishing also was a favorite pastime.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Robert and Kathy Moen of Bremerton; his mother, Margaret Moen of Federal Way; two sons, Jason of Puyallup and Scott of Washington; a daughter, Stacy Clymer of Gig Harbor; a brother, Dr. John Moen and his wife, Vicki, of Seattle; two sisters, Kelly Alden and her husband, Jeff, of Des Moines, Wash., and Tova Moen of Phoenix; and a grandson, Austin.

Jeanette Belcher
Jeanette Carol Belcher, 17, of Port Orchard died of cancer Oct. 13, 2002, at Children's Hospital in Seattle.
She was born Sept. 20, 1985. She attended South Kitsap High School.
She was a member of Port Orchard Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed music, animals, swimming and crafts.
Survivors include her father and stepmother, Samuel and Beatrice Belcher of Port Orchard; her mother, Emily Morris of Hephzibah, Ga.; a brother, Paul Branson of Edgewood, N.M.; two sisters, Sheri Harader of Port Orchard and Sharlene Roberts of Lancaster, N.Y.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Port Orchard Church of the Nazarene, followed by interment at 3 p.m. at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Ruth Hawkins Kilburn
Former Bremerton resident Ruth Hawkins Kilburn, 70, of Everett died Oct. 7, 2002, at Bethany At Pacific Care Center in Everett.
She was born in Miles City, Mont., to James and Ada Hawkins, the seventh of their 10 children. She was raised and educated in Bremerton.
She married
Herman Kilburn at the Navy Chapel in Bremerton in 1951. They lived in many places before settling in Ocean Shores.
Mr. Kilburn died in 1994. Mrs. Kilburn moved to Everett at that time to be near her son Wayne.
Her survivors include two sons, Wayne Kilburn and his wife, Megan, of Everett and Jack Kilburn of Texas; three brothers, James Hawkins and his wife, Maxine, of Bremerton, Robert Hawkins and his wife, Marillyn, of Port Orchard and Don Hawkins and his wife, Sandie, of Kent; four sisters, Margaret White of Kennewick, Joyce Swanson and her husband, James, of Anchorage, Alaska, DeLana Cox of Bremerton and Mary Anne Nettekoven and her husband, Wayne, of Seattle; three grandchildren, Troy, Zachariah and Ernie Ann Kilburn, all of Everett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents, a sister and a brother preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elim Free Lutheran Church in Lake Stevens.
