Jeanne Loomis
Jeanne Sophia Loomis, 84, of Poulsbo died Sept. 24, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born Sept. 5, 1918, in Mason, Mich., to Schuyler L. and Eula (Foerch) Marshall. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, Mich., and Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) in East Lansing.
She married Stanley R. Loomis on June 11, 1949, at the First Methodist Church in St. Johns. Mr. and Mrs. Loomis were Master Gardeners and enjoyed traveling together throughout the United States and Canada.
Upon her retirement from the trust department of Clinton National Bank in St. Johns, Mrs. Loomis became a volunteer at Clinton Memorial Hospital there. Her father, a former publisher of the Clinton County Republican News, helped establish the hospital.
Mrs. Loomis was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband; a son, Theodore Schuyler Loomis, and his wife, Megan Somerville-Loomis, of Seattle; a sister, Martha Tillotson of Beaver Creek, Ohio; and a brother, Bill Schuyler Marshall Jr. of Santa Maria, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Marshall, and sisters Ruth Clohset and Mary Stuckey.
There will be no funeral. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel at Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo. A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date. Interment icon will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Clinton Memorial Hospital in St. Johns, to Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo or to a charity of your choice.

Marietta Edmondson
Marietta Edmondson, 79, of Bremerton died Sept. 22, 2002, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
She was born Feb. 10, 1923, in Maud, Okla., to Floyd Clay Southern and Alice (Hickman) Southern.
She married Charles Wesley Edmondson on Dec. 6, 1946, in Oklahoma. He died in 1992.
Mrs. Edmondson was a member of Central Valley Church of Christ and the Church of Christ in Port Orchard. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, writing poetry and art.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Southern of Fullerton, Calif., and Keith and Eddie Edmondson, both of Bremerton; three daughters, Billie A. Dunford, Phyllis Wallace and Lori Edmondson, all of Bremerton; two sisters, Anne Montgomery of Visalia, Calif., and Bette Conrad of Eugene, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
At her request, no services will be held.

Wilma (Boepple) Mougin
Wilma M. (Boepple) Mougin, 90, of Canterbury Manor in Bremerton died Sept. 26, 2002, at her home.
She was born March 23, 1912, in Toppenish, to Herschel and Della (Martin) Barnes. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Seattle.
She married Robert O. Boepple in Wapato in 1934. He died in 1960.
In 1966, she married Spencer F. Mougin in Bremerton. He died in 1978.
She worked with the Bremerton School District for more than 20 years, retiring in 1966. She was active for more than 50 years in Eastern Star and also was a member of Amaranth, Pythian Sisters, Sister Eagles, Ladies of Elks and the Children's Hospital Guild.
She enjoyed family gatherings at her Hood Canal property. She is survived by a son, Rodney R. Boepple and his wife, Sharron; four grandchildren, Brett Boepple, Wendi Barnes and her husband, Chris, Angelia Christensen and her husband, Eric, and Stacy Pemberton and her husband, Brian; and six great-grandchildren, Tyrelle Pumphrey, Tino Rios, Tyler Boepple, twins Hailey and Hunter Christensen and Baby Pemberton.
She was preceded in death by a son, Walter W. Boepple, and a brother, Herschel M. Barnes.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 700 Callahan Drive in Bremerton. Memorial donations may be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 5371, Seattle, WA 98105-0371.

Wyona Ingles
Former Port Orchard resident Wyona C. Ingles, 80, of Olympia died Sept. 24, 2002, at her home.
She was born April 29, 1922, in Golden Valley, N.D., to Samuel and Emma (Mai) Janke.
She married Leroy Ingles on April 22, 1945. He died in 2001.
Mrs. Ingles loved her children and cherished time spent with her family.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Ingles of Placidas, N.M.; three daughters, Dodie Ness of Port Orchard, Debi Young of Olympia and Lee Pearson of Missoula, Mont.; eight grandchildren, Steven, Eris, and Jamie Ness, Kristin Ness-Olsen, Kari Ingles-Alstat, Brian Ingles, and Jeff and Lyndsey Young; and one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Alstat.
A granddaughter, Heather Leigh, preceded her in death.
No services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Clara Hardman
Former Port Orchard resident Clara Mae Hardman, 79, of Shelton died Aug. 11, 2002, of heart failure at her home.
She was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Lander, Wyo., to Oscar and Mae Whitehead.
She married Walter Hardman on Aug. 30, 1942. The couple lived in Port Orchard for more than 30 years and were active in the Port Orchard Yacht Club for more than 20 years.
Mrs. Hardman worked in the bakery business for approximately 20 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Hardman took early retirement and spent another 20 years in Queen Valley, Ariz. Mrs. Hardman enjoyed playing golf there.
In 1999, they relocated to Washington, moving to Shelton to be closer to their family. At the time of Mr. Hardman's death in 2000, the couple had been married 58 years.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Hardman of Shelton and Bob Hardman of Port Orchard; a daughter, Linda Deel of Shelton; a sister, Margaret Brundidge of Keiser, Ore.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
At her request, her ashes and those of her husband will be scattered by their children.

Ed Fischler
Ed Fischler, 98, of Bremerton died Dec. 3, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Feb. 1, 1904, in London, England, to Samual and Ida Fischler. He moved to Seattle as a child, graduating from Franklin High School there.
His working life began when, as an elementary and high school student, he sold newspapers in Pioneer Square and at the King County Courthouse for The Seattle Times.
In 1933, Mr. Fischler moved to Bremerton. He operated The Smoke Shop on First Street, later becoming a partner in an insurance, real estate and investment company known in later years as Fulmer and Company. He worked with that company for more than 40 years.
He married Elizabeth Pulvermiller in January 1944 in Bremerton. She preceded him in death in 1984.
Mr. Fischler spent 69 of his 98 years in Bremerton, serving the community in many volunteer capacities. He is quoted as saying that his best jobs through the years were his "dollar-a-year jobs."
During World War II, he was chairman of the Bremerton Civil Service Commission and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Ration Board. Together with his brother, Hal, Mr. Fischler co-founded the Navy League in Bremerton and worked very closely with early versions of the United Way.
Mr. Fischler's civic and community involvement also included service with the board of directors of the Kitsap Humane Society, the current United Way of Kitsap County, Fraternal and Accepted Masons, the Elks, the Scottish Rite, the Bremerton and Tacoma Shriners Clubs and the National Sojourners.
In addition, he is credited with helping to establish the 911 Rescue 1 program in Bremerton.
Mr. Fischler was a great sports enthusiast. He especially enjoyed baseball and watching his grandson, Brent Downey, play.
He is survived by his daughter, Idena Downey and son-in-law, Larry Downey, of Bremerton; two grandsons, Ryan Edward Downey of Kirkland and Brent L. Downey of Seattle; and a sister, Rae Glazer of Seattle.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Butterworth's Arthur A. Wright Hills of Eternity Mausoleum in Seattle.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kitsap Humane Society, the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, phone (800) 237-5055; the Washington State University Alumni Association; and the University of Washington Alumni Association.

Beatrice Roberts
Beatrice E. Roberts, 92, of Bremerton died Nov. 30, 2002, at her home.
She was born Feb. 25, 1910, in Opal, S.D. She attended high school in Heron, Mont.
She married Earl E. Roberts in Everett. He died in 1983.
Mrs. Roberts was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Manette Community Church.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth E. Roberts of Bremerton; two daughters, Elizabeth Hellers of Auburn and Nancy Way of Seattle; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Olaf, and a sister, Minnie.
At her request, no services will be held.

Ethel Twito
Ethel J. Twito, 98, of Poulsbo died Nov. 30, 2002, at Liberty Shores Assisted Living in Poulsbo.
She was born June 26, 1904, in Lemolo to Frank S. and Tillie (Norman) Peterson. She graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1924 and from the Seattle General Hospital School of Nursing in 1928.
She married Olav A. Twito on July 11, 1940, in Seattle. He died in 1999.
Mrs. Twito lived in Seattle for 34 years. She worked as a registered nurse at Children's Orthopedic Hospital there for 10 years.
In 1974, the Twitos moved to Lemolo. They became residents of Liberty Shores in 1996.
Mrs. Twito's main interest was her family and friends. She used her nursing skills to help them throughout the years, delivering one of her nieces, Jeanne Snouwaert.
Survivors include three nieces, Joan Carson, Julie Elsner and Jeanne Snouwaert, all of Poulsbo; two grandnephews, Doug Carson of San Francisco and Chris Elsner of Seattle; two grandnieces, Elaine Snouwaert of Spokane and Diane Sabo of Poulsbo; and three great-grandnephews, Garrett, Cameron and Nathan Sabo.
Two brothers, Raymond F. Peterson and Richard "Rick" Peterson, preceded her in death.
Services are private. Inurnment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bremerton.

Roda Hallman Brown
Former Poulsbo resident Roda Irene Hallman Brown, 93, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, died Nov. 18, 2002, of a heart attack in Calgary.
She was born Jan. 2, 1909, in Pearson (Kitsap County) to Elis August and Eva (Morgan) Hallman. She graduated from Union High School in Poulsbo in 1926 and went on to graduate from the Christian and Missionary Alliance Bible School, studying in both St. Paul, Minn., and Nyack, N.Y.
She married George Henry Brown on Jan. 13, 1949, in Swaziland, South Africa. He died in 1992.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Missionary Alliance. She served as a missionary for 32 years, retiring in 1976.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Gardening was a favorite pastime.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Sommerville of Calgary and Ruth Loubser and her husband, Henfred, of Waterkloof, Pretoria, South Africa; one brother, David Hallman and his wife, Opal, of Seabeck; one sister, Doris Mattson of Bainbridge Island; one sister-in-law, Jean Hallman Lichti of Bainbridge Island; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, William and Theodore "Ted, " and two sisters, Calla Brickley and Goldie Hagbo.
A funeral service was held Nov. 25 in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Interment icon was at Kelowna Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Springfield Funeral Home.

Paulmer Slind
Paulmer Joseph Slind, 83, of Poulsbo died Dec. 4, 2002, from complications of lymphoma at Harrison Hospital.
He was born July 25, 1919, in rural Malta, Mont., to Peter and Anna (Peterson) Slind. He graduated from Warwick High School in Warwick, N.D., in 1937.
He married Inez Luella Papenfuss in Minneapolis. The couple was married for 60 years.
Mr. Slind served in the Army from 1942 to 1945, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. He was awarded several service medals.
He went on to work as a meat cutter for 45 years.
Mr. Slind was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a past president of the Sons of Norway. He was affiliated with the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Diane Albro of Seabeck; one sister, Mina Nesslar of Havre, Mont.; his 100-year-old uncle, Phillip Peterson of Salem, Ore.; and three grandchildren, Wendi, Hilarie and Leonard Albro.
He was preceded in death by a son, Arvid Slind, and a granddaughter, MacKenzie Albro.
No services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital in Seattle or to emergency services in North Kitsap.
