Connie Holmes
Frances "Connie" Helena Holmes, 87, of Poulsbo died Nov. 21, 2002, at Island Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 1, 1915, in South Bend, Ind., to John and Cecelia Luczckowski. She married
Robert W. Holmes in Lawton, Okla., on Feb. 14, 1977.
Ms. Holmes was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her husband, seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia and Carol.
No services will be held.

Sharon Presley
Sharon Arlene Presley, 61, of Port Orchard died Nov. 23, 2002, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 20, 1941, in Powell, Wyo., to William "Cap" and Olga (Meinhart) Robbins. She graduated from Powell High School in 1960.
She married
Delbert Presley in Powell.
Mrs. Presley was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed crochet, video games, pets and hard rock music.
She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard, serving as Sunday School teacher, choir member and janitor.
Survivors include her husband, of Basin, Wyo.; her mother, of Powell, Wyo.; a son, John W. Presley of Silverdale; two daughters, Brenda K. and Kimberly E. Presley, both of Port Orchard; a sister, Cheryl Zundel and her husband, Harold, of Laurel, Mont.; and two grandchildren, Jacqueline S. and Aarron Presley, both of Yelm.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Robbins.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. The family will be present after 4 p.m.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.

Nicholas McCune
Nicholas Richard McCune was born at Harrison Hospital in Silverdale
Nov. 19, 2002, to Cristal Leigh McCune of Port Orchard and Michael Richard Clifton of Olalla. He died the same day.
He is survived by his parents; a brother, Zackery McCune of Port Orchard; maternal grandparents, Rob and Lynn McCune of Port Orchard; paternal
grandmother, Debbie Clifton of Olalla; and maternal great-grandparents, Larry Carter of Port Orchard, Joan Davis of Fenton, Mo., and Bob and Beverly McCune of San Antonio.
A memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. today at South Park Assembly of God in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Allie Smith
Allie Gentry Smith, 88, of Bremerton died of natural causes on Nov. 21, 2002, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born May 16, 1914, in Fountain, Okla., to Daniel Edward and Lucinda Margaret (Stricklan) Smith. He attended school in Oklahoma.
He married
Opal Frances Inman on June 1, 1940, in McCleary.
Mr. Smith worked as a shipfitter in Shop 911 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 26 years, retiring in 1973.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years; two daughters, Loxi Margurite Schneider of Vancouver, Wash., and Natalie Louise Hickernell of Bremerton; four grandchildren, Yvonne Jensen, Julia Armentrout, and Eric and Darrell Anderson; and two great-grandchildren, Chelsea "J.A.K." Jensen and Marisa Anderson.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
No services will be held.
John Mosser
John Mosser, 82, of Bremerton died Nov. 22, 2002, at his home of a heart attack.
He was born June 9, 1920, in McMinnville, Ore., to Jonas and Cora (Davidson) Mosser. He was a high school graduate.
He served in the Army during World War II and was discharged for medical reasons.
Mr. Mosser was a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 35 years, retiring in 1986.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors and with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys (Erwick) Mosser; a son, Jay of University Place; five daughters, Joan Goodwin and Gloria Deford, both of Port Orchard, Karen Camp and Judy Mosser, both of Seattle, and Sally Weaver of Illinois; one brother, Bob of The Dalles, Ore.; a sister, Ellen of San Diego; and 13 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Howard Johnston
Howard Stanley Johnston, 72, of Bremerton died of cancer Nov. 23, 2002, in Bremerton.
He was born June 5, 1930, in Rutledge, Mo., to Homer E. and Nellie Rae (Sallee) Johnston. He graduated from Rutledge Senior High School.
He married
Jo Ann Richey in Inglewood, Calif.
Mr. Johnston served in the Navy from 1948 to 1949 and again from 1952 to 1953, achieving the rank of BT3.
He retired in 1992 after working more than 38 years for Rockwell International. He then spent three years as a greeter for Wal-Mart in Bremerton.
He enjoyed working with wood. He sang and played the guitar in a Western band.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Stanley William E. Johnston of California; a daughter, Robin Kathleen Cantwell of Poulsbo; three sisters, Lucille Hutson of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Dorothy Bettinghouse of Lebanon, Mo., and Naomi Chandler of Illinois; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Melvin, Cecil, Arlis, Irvin and Ivan; and one sister, Irene Bittikofer.
No services will be held locally.
James Crippen
James R. Crippen, 95, of Bremerton died of asbestosis Nov. 20, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 18, 1907, in San Bernadino, Calif., to Augustus and Margaret (Peach) Crippen.
He married
Maxine Munson on Aug. 21, 1945, in Bremerton. She preceded him in death in 1988.
Mr. Crippen served in the Navy for four years.
He retired in 1969, after working 23 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as an electrician in Shop 51.
He joined the Bremerton Yacht Club in 1973. He was accomplished at flying his Luscombe airplane and enjoyed being a ham radio operator.
Survivors include a son, James Cunningham of Port Orchard; a daughter, Sue Kingsbury of Bremerton; a sister, Mary Claypool of Seal Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Mazzola; and a brother, Steve Crippen.
At his request there will be no services.

Robert Boyd
Robert M. Boyd, 59, of Belfair died Nov. 21, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 29, 1942, in Seattle to Robert and Ruby Mae (Coates) Boyd.
He married
Judith K. Tefferteller on June 28, 1964, in Ventura, Calif. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Scott, and his wife, Wendy, of Denver; a brother, Jimmy, and his wife Jill of
Bandon, Ore.; and a niece and nephew, Ramie and Morgan Boyd, both of Bandon, Ore.

Verval Weaver
Verval M. Weaver, 75, of Bremerton died Nov. 24, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born April 8, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Detlef P. and Ila V. (Suer) Heinl. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle in 1945.
She married
Royce S. Weaver on Sept. 22, 1946.
Mrs. Weaver was a homemaker who loved her family and enjoyed sewing, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of Elim Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Tim R. Weaver of Lynnwood; two daughters, Rebecca Hurley of Bremerton and Cheri Nitz of Port Orchard; a sister, Jean Blecha of Aberdeen; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ila M. Weaver; and a granddaughter, Kathy Weaver.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Betty Doe
Former Bremerton and longtime Suquamish resident Elizabeth A. "Betty" Doe, 96, of Bellevue died Nov. 14, 2002, in Bellevue.
She was born Jan. 6, 1906, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., to Reginald and Lucie M. (Keyes) Hunt. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1923 and received a bachelor of arts degree in liberal arts from Syracuse University in New York in 1932.
She married
Horace W. Doe on Oct. 30, 1933, in Philadelphia. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Doe worked as a secretary at the University of Pennsylvania from 1933 to 1940. She also wrote a column for the Kitsap County Herald for many years in the 1950s.
She was a member of Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo, Sylvan Way Baptist Church in Bremerton, the Olympians (a senior group at Christ Memorial) and the Suquamish-Indianola Children's Hospital Auxiliary.
Her favorite pastimes were music, reading, travel and correspondence with her many friends throughout the world.
She particularly enjoyed serving as a volunteer in North Kitsap School District's art docent program. She volunteered in this capacity at Suquamish Elementary School from 1986 to 1990, receiving the Golden Apple Award for her contribution to the program.
Survivors include two sons, Alan R. Doe of Bellevue and Roland H. Doe of Bremerton; a sister, Virginia Seaholm of Stratford, Conn.; and two grandsons, Jeffrey A. Doe of Encino, Calif., and Steven A. Doe of Charlotte, N.C. She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Hunt.

James Randolph Hall
Jim Hall, 74, of Port Orchard died Nov. 23, 2002, at his home after a battle with lung cancer.
Mr. Hall was born Dec. 3, 1927, in New London, Conn., to Rear Adm. F.S. Hall and Gertrude (McDiarmid) Hall.
He graduated from Fredonia High School in Fredonia, N.Y. in 1946. He attended Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., served in the Army Air Corps and graduated from the University of Washington in 1950.
He married
Catherine Fauntz on June 8, 1951, in Seattle.
Mr. Hall worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration in Alaska, Colorado and Oklahoma before joining Hewlett-Packard in Washington, D.C., in 1959. He served as regional manager in New England until retiring in 1985.
After retiring he and his wife settled in Port Orchard to run Reflections Bed & Breakfast.
Mr. Hall was active in Port Orchard Rotary Club, South Kitsap Chamber of Commerce, Kitsap Literacy Council and Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church.
He enjoyed boating in the San Juan Islands and on Chesapeake Bay, golfing with his friends, flying his Cessna 172, going to Huskies and Mariners games, woodworking, gardening and playing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Duff and Ginger Hall of Corvallis, Ore., Pamela Hall of Portland, Ore., Stacy (Hall) and Tom Brink of Phoenix and Julie Hall and Mark Finerty of Kensington, N.H.;six grandsons and one granddaughter.
