George Braxton Jr.
George Louis Braxton Jr., 51, of Bremerton died of natural causes Nov. 18, 2002 at his home.
He was born Feb. 17, 1951, in Boston, Mass., to George Louis Sr. and Elizabeth (Viera) Braxton.
He married
Rosa Washington on Oct. 12, 1979, in Bremerton.
Mr. Braxton served in the Navy from 1969 to 1980.
In 1982, he completed an auto technician degree at Olympic College.
He was employed as a rigger at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and his interests included fishing, hunting and fixing cars.
Mr. Braxton is survived by his wife, Rosa; mother, Elizabeth Ashley of Boston; sons, Jerome and Tyrone Braxton of Bremerton and Anthony Braxton of Boston, Mass.; a daughter, Tiffany Braxton of Bremerton; three brothers, Frankie, Chico and Manny Nunes, all of Boston; two sisters, Gina Smith and Doreen Hopkins of Boston; a grandmother, Margaret Silver of Cape Cod, Mass.; 10 grandchildren and 17 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by twin sister Ida Braxton and father George Sr.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton.
A service will he at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent, where he will be inurned.
Buzzy McFeely
Gregory Fred "Buzzy" McFeely Jr., 44, of Victor died Nov. 10, 2002, in Belfair.
He was born March 29, 1958, in Bremerton. He graduated from North Mason High School in 1976 with honors.
Mr. McFeely worked for Pederson Timber Co. in Quilcene until an injury forced his retirement in 1983. He went on to work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 1992 to 1999.
His favorite pastimes were fishing in Hood Canal and growing flowers and tomatoes. He also enjoyed helping those in need.
Survivors include his father and his wife, Dr. Fred E. and Amelia McFeely of Victor; his sister, Evelyn Marr "Lynn" McFeely of Victor; one half brother, Stuart Milbrad of Selah; his nephew and niece, Cordell D. McFeely and Cassandra Marr McFeely, both of Victor; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Marr (Gaylord) McFeely.
A celebration of life dinner will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 14 at Victor Community Club. RSVP to Lynn at (360) 277-0866.

Patrick Thompson
Patrick Tommy Thompson, 54, of Port Orchard died Nov. 20, 2002, at his home after a battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 14, 1948, in Jonesboro, Ark., to Richard and Christine (Smothers) Thompson.
He graduated from Central Washington University in Ellensburg in 1998.
He married
Michele Brouillette on Nov. 30, 1979, in Kalispell, Mont.
Mr. Thompson served in the Army from 1967 to 1970. He was awarded the Defense Service Medal and was an award-winning rifle expert.
He had worked as a pipefitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and as a project safety manager for Lease Crutcher Lewis in Redmond.
His favorite pastimes were boating, camping, fishing and hunting.
He also enjoyed baseball and had been an active parent when his sons participated in the sport.
His survivors include his wife; two sons, Joseph Patrick Thompson and Samuel Richard Thompson, both of Port Orchard; two brothers, Bill Earls of Otsego, Minn., and Richard Thompson of Gray Summit, Mo.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 30 at the Port Orchard Yacht Club. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
Claude McCarthy
Claude McCarthy, 85, of Bremerton died Nov. 21, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Aug. 9, 1917, in Portland, Ore.
He married
Mae B. Sherar on Nov. 10, 1945, in Seattle. She preceded him in death in 2000.
Mr. McCarthy served in the Navy with the Seabees from 1943 to 1945, achieving the rank of carpenter's mate third class. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal.
He went on to work as a truck driver with Aarco Gas Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1979.
Mr. McCarthy was a life member and past department commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His survivors include a son, Ray Irons of Port Angeles; two daughters, Janice Swyers of Bremerton and Sandie Williamson of Ivins, Utah; a brother, Robert McCarthy of Everett; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John McCarthy of Everett.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton, followed by a funeral service there at 1 p.m.

David Talmadge Sr.
Former Kingston resident David Thomas Talmadge Sr., 80, of University Place died of heart failure Nov. 19, 2002, in Tacoma.
He was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Salem, Ore., to David H. and Naomi (Roberts) Talmadge. He graduated from high school in Salem in 1939.
He married
Loree Hansen on May 2, 1942.
Mr. Talmadge served in the Army with the 388th Field Artillery from 1939 to 1945.
He went on to work as a grader with Pope & Talbot Mill for 15 years. In addition, he was self-employed before and after his retirement in 1984 at Small Engine Repair in Kingston.
Mr. Talmadge was a member of Kitsap Computing Seniors. He also enjoyed music.
His survivors include his wife; three sons, David Talmadge Jr. and Donald Talmadge, both of Kingston, and Douglas Talmadge of Puyallup; three daughters, Davette Roth of Chimacum and Roberta Howerton and Loree "Deedee" Peter, both of Tacoma; a sister, Harriet Jack of Farmsville, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Fisher.
No services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton.
Elyzabeth Hope Berg
Elyzabeth Hope Berg, the day-old daughter of Mellisa O'Brien and Christopher Berg of Silverdale, died
Nov. 20, 2002, at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma.
She was born Nov. 19, 2002, in Tacoma.
Her survivors include her parents and her grandparents, Walt and Kathy Berg of Silverdale, Susen Bryant and her companion, Bob Buckley, of Tacoma and Merrie and Jack O'Brien of Junction City, Ore.
A private memorial service will be Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton.

Mary M. Hunter
Mary M. Hunter, 85, of Bremerton died Nov. 20, 2002, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
She was born June 24, 1917, in Atlanta.
Mrs. Hunter was a homemaker. She was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church.
Her favorite pastimes were reading and sewing.
Her husband, Jerome Hunter, preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Annie R. Cooks and her husband, Johnnie, of Bremerton.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton.
David L. Jackson
David L. Jackson, 56, of Bainbridge Island died Nov. 20, 2002, of heart failure on Bainbridge Island.
He was born Sept. 2, 1946, in Seattle to Erik and Eva (Ubel) Jackson. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1964.
Mr. Jackson served in the Air Force from 1965 to 1969.
He married
Ora McFarlane on July 1, 1972, on Bainbridge Island.
Mr. Jackson had owned and operated an auto shop for 28 years. He enjoyed volleyball and Lionel trains.
His survivors include his wife; a son, Larry Jackson of Oakland, Calif.; a daughter, Erika Lahtela of Bainbridge Island; a brother, Arnold Jackson of Bainbridge Island; and a sister, Dianne McFarlane of Bainbridge.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Kass Funeral Home on Bainbridge Island.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Bainbridge Alliance Church.
Interment will be at Port Blakely cemetery on Bainbridge Island.

Betty Doe
Former Bremerton resident Elizabeth A. "Betty" Doe, 96, of Bellevue died Nov. 14, 2002, in Bellevue.
She was born Jan. 6, 1906, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., to Reginald and Lucie M. (Keyes) Hunt. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1923 and received a bachelor of arts degree in liberal arts from Syracuse University in New York in 1932.
She married
Horace W. Doe on Oct. 30, 1933, in Philadelphia. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Doe worked as a secretary at the University of Pennsylvania from 1933 to 1940. She also wrote a column for the Kitsap County Herald in the 1950s, continuing for many years.
She was a member of Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo, Sylvan Way Baptist Church in Bremerton, the Olympians (a senior group at Christ Memorial) and the Suquamish-Indianola Children's Hospital Auxiliary.
Her favorite pastimes were music, reading, travel and correspondence with her many friends throughout the world.
She particularly enjoyed serving as a volunteer in the North Kitsap School District's Art Docent program.
She volunteered in this capacity at Suquamish Elementary School from 1986 to 1990, receiving the Golden Apple Award for her contribution to the program.
Her survivors include two sons, Alan R. Doe of Bellevue and Roland H. Doe of Port Orchard; a sister, Virginia Seaholm of Stratford, Conn.; and two grandsons, Jeffrey A. Doe of Encino, Calif., and Steven A. Doe of Charlotte, N.C. She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Hunt.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Jan. 2 at Christ Memorial Church, 18901 Eighth Ave. NE, Poulsbo, WA 98370.

Carol Lewis
Carol M. Lewis, 64, of Port Orchard died Nov. 21, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Nov. 16, 1938, in Cheyenne, Wyo.
A homemaker since retirement, she and her husband, Don, had been co-owners of Westbay Auto Parts for many years. Her husband preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Lewis attended the Family Worship Center and Spirit of Truth Fellowship, both in Port Orchard. She enjoyed theological studies and was nearing completion of a degree in Christian theology.
She was a member of Port Orchard Eagles 2338 for more than 30 years.
Her survivors include three sons, Richard D. Lewis, Kevin J. Lewis and Kenneth I. Lewis and his wife, Jenee, all of Port Orchard; two daughters, Ginger L. Blowers and her husband, Larry, and Tina M. Rauch and her husband, Scott L., all of Port Orchard; a brother, Keith Housiaux; a sister, Valerie Williams; "Grandma G.G."; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday there, followed by interment at Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
