Rosemary Brennan
Rosemary A. Brennan, 75, of Bremerton died Nov. 16, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born July 25, 1927, in Sioux City, Iowa.
Her survivors include her husband; a son; six daughters; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.

Erwin Riechmann
Erwin Christian Riechmann, 93, of Bremerton died Nov. 10, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1909, in Chicago, Ohio, to Christian and Berta Ella (Belau) Riechmann. He graduated from high school in the Netherlands in 1927.
He married Elsie Wilhelmina Zapka on June 10, 1939, at the home of the Rev. H. Waldvogel in Woodhaven, Long Island, N.Y.
She preceded him in death in 1985.
Mr. Riechmann worked as a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 1944 until his retirement in 1974. He received his machinist training in the Netherlands.
He enjoyed fishing and bowling. He participated in men's bowling leagues in the Bremerton area.
Mr. Riechmann was raised in the Lutheran faith. He was very active in senior centers in Belfair and Bremerton.
Survivors include two daughters, Leslie Marrs and her husband, Paul, of Port Orchard and Susan Conn and her husband, Jerry, of Bremerton; three grandchildren, Christine Hunsaker of Southworth, Dan Dressen and his wife, Selinda, of Port Orchard and Steve Conn and his fiancee, Rhonda, of Bremerton; and one great-grandchild, Haile Hunsaker of Southworth.
In 1998, a sister, Elizabeth Miller, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton. Visitation continues at noon Saturday before the 1 p.m. funeral service, also at Lewis.
Interment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.

Lena Burkland
Lena Burkland, 86, of Poulsbo of heart problems died Nov. 17, 2002, at her granddaughter's home in Poulsbo.
She was born Aug. 23, 1916, in Chinook, Mont., to John and Stephanie (D'Houghe) Tilleman. She was raised and educated in Chinook, attending a one-room elementary schoolhouse there.
In 2001, after an extended illness, she moved to Poulsbo from Havre, Mont., to be near her family and caregivers - granddaughter Lisa Thorsen and her husband, Todd, and their children, Ty and Mitchell.
A longtime resident of Havre, Mrs. Burkland was a member of the Eagles and the First Lutheran Church there. Her favorite pastimes were dancing, playing the organ, cribbage and pinochle.
In addition to the Thorsen family, her survivors include one son, Frank Sonnenberg of Missoula, Mont.; three grandsons, Mike Hayes of Bremerton, and Chris and Max Sonnenberg, both of Missoula; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husbands Bob Burkland and Lloyd Sonnenberg; a daughter, Myrna Hayes of Bremerton; and siblings Art, Hank and Charlie Tilleman, Mabel Bennett and Juliette Acher, all of Chinook.
Services are private. Her family asks that anyone who knew her take a moment and remember her with their own special thoughts.
Memorial donations may be made to Bremerton Fire Department Rescue Fund, 817 Pacific Ave., Bremerton, WA 98337, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Evelyn Rimmey
Evelyn Louise Rimmey, 95, of Bremerton died Nov. 17, 2002, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
She was born March 6, 1907, in Bellefonte, Pa., to Joseph and Emma L. (Rastetter) Jones.
She married William H. Rimmey on Nov. 25, 1925. He died in 1962.
Survivors include one son, William H. Rimmey and his wife, Donna, of Bremerton; two grandchildren, Debra and Steven; and five great-grandchildren, Steve, Kathy, J.D., Julie and Jeff. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jackie.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Viola Natter
Former Kitsap County resident Viola M. Natter, 72, of Apache Junction, Ariz., died Nov. 18, 2002, in Mesa, Ariz.
She was born Nov. 9, 1930, in Competition, Mo., to John and Mamie (Harman) Nelson.
She was raised in Texas, moving to Washington state at age 10. She lived in Kitsap County for many years.
She married Fred A. Natter Jr. on Oct. 31, 1951. They were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were married in the Salt Lake City temple.
Mrs. Natter was a homemaker who enjoyed crochet, sewing and singing in her church choir. For many years, she was active in RVing, becoming a snowbird to Apache Junction five years ago.
Survivors include four sons, Randy Natter of Ogden, Utah, Barry Natter of Anchorage, Alaska, Lonny Natter of Roy and Daryl Natter of Mesa; one brother, Charles Bedinger of Highlands, Texas; three sisters, Carrie Jenkins of Bremerton, Alene Asay of Kennewick and Margaret Dahlke of Mesa; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2225 Perry Ave. in Bremerton. Dedication of the grave will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

George Wakeling
George Ernest Wakeling, 84, of Bremerton died
Nov. 12, 2002, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bremerton.
He was born May 2, 1918, in Derby, England, to Edward and Amy (Bailey) Wakeling.
Mr. Wakeling served with the British Army infantry (Black Watch Regiment) from 1939 to 1945, achieving the rank of sergeant. He participated in many major European battles during World War II.
He married Violet Louisa Manning in May 1947 in Derby. In 1950, the couple moved to New Zealand where Mr. Wakeling worked for seven years on the south island at a large hydroelectric project.
In 1957, the family moved to the United States where Mr. Wakeling continued to work as a carpenter and in the construction trade for more than 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was involved in the supervision of the construction of the submarine base at Bangor.
After retirement, he became active in the community, serving as weatherization coordinator for the Kitsap County Action program. He enjoyed helping others and volunteered his time to many projects, from building fences to making sets for Bremerton Community Theatre.
Mr. Wakeling also enjoyed reading and outdoor activities. He was affiliated with the Methodist faith.
Survivors include one son, Allen Wakeling of Gig Harbor; one daughter, Valerie Braddock of Bremerton; and six grandchildren, Paul, Nadja and Kiaya Baker and Lance, Leigh and Vanessa Wakeling. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Harold, and a sister, Amy.
No services will be held.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kitsap Humane Society.

Bill Mason
William Francis "Bill" Mason, 80, of Bremerton died Nov. 19, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Seattle to Francis and Betty (Rodgers) Mason. He graduated from Issaquah High School in 1940 and received a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Washington in Seattle, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.
He married Donna Storgaard on May 27, 1947, in Renton.
Mr. Mason served in the Army from 1943 to 1944, achieving the rank of corporal. He went on to work in civil service for more than 30 years in U.S. government industrial relations, retiring in 1974.
His career took him to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Guam, the Philippines, Washington, D.C., and Honolulu, Hawaii. The Department of the Navy honored him with the Meritorious Civilian Service award.
Mr. Mason was known for his willingness to help others in a variety of civic and community activities. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kitsap Golf and Country Club and the Jaycees (in Olongopo and Manila in the Philippine Islands).
He loved music, enjoyed playing piano and was an accomplished violinist. Other favorite pastimes
ere gardening, sports and traveling with his family.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Tom Mason of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; one daughter, Kelly Reams of Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren, Sarah Reams and Tommy, Evan, Jack and Elizabeth Mason.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Attention: Director's Office, 915 Second Ave., Seattle, WA 98174.

Carlene Casey Stanley
Carlene Casey Stanley, 47, of Port Orchard died Nov. 17, 2002, at her home.
She was born Nov. 16, 1955, in San Rafael, Calif., to James and Janet (Cresci) Casey.
She married Alan Stanley on May 9, 1991, in Sonoma, Calif.
Mrs. Stanley worked as a cook at Jimmy D's Burger and Steakhouse and at the Port Orchard Eagles. Previously, she served as director and as a cook with the Golden Hills "Feeding of the Needy" program in Brentwood, Calif.
She also had been a professional dancer and a daycare provider (in Antioch, Calif.)
Mrs. Stanley was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles, the Lions Club and Spirit of Truth Fellowship in Port Orchard.
She enjoyed trying new crafts - such as soap- and candle-making - and is said to have always had a project in progress.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Janet Cresci of Santa Barbara, Calif.; her father, James Casey of Australia; one son, Shae V. Stanley of Port Orchard; one brother, James Casey Jr. of Minnesota; one sister, Jennifer Lundmark of Santa Barbara; and her foster mother, Ruby Reynolds of Port Orchard.
A funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.

Edwin Erickson
Edwin F. Erickson, 85, of Bremerton died Nov. 14, 2002, in Bremerton of an aneurysm.
He was born Nov. 15, 1916, in Silvana to Anton and Anna (Fredrickson) Erickson. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma in 1935.
He married Lorna Bittner on March 12, 1948, in Tacoma.
Mr. Erickson served in the Army from 1941 to 1945. He was a captain in the Signal Corps.
He went on to work as an electrical engineer technician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. His favorite pastimes were boating, travel and building.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cheryl Spalding of LaVerne, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Karastina, Ian and Elizabeth Spalding. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beda O'Malley.
At the family's request, no services will be held. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Bernie Ross
Bernice Irene "Bernie" Ross, 90, of Hansville died Nov. 18, 2002, at her home.
She was born July 19, 1912, in Avoca, Iowa, to Jesse and Charlotte (Plahn) Potter. In 1930, she graduated from Hancock High School in Hancock, Iowa, where she played on the girls basketball team.
She married Roderick Ross on July 4, 1941, in Hoquiam. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Mrs. Ross was a homemaker. During World War II, she was on the B-17 assembly line at Boeing, where she worked with "Rosie the Riveter."
She was devoted to her family. Her favorite pastimes were bowling, quilting, jigsaw puzzles, needlepoint and home crafts.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Ross and his wife, Judy, of Poulsbo; three brothers, Dean Potter and his wife, Marge, of Olympia, Morris Potter and his wife, Marty, of Hoquiam and Don Potter and his wife, Juanita, of Enumclaw; one sister, Dorothy Butcher of Concord, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Stephanie, Amanda and Jeremy Ross of SeaTac. She also was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Ross, in 1973, and by brothers Martin, Bill and Leo Potter.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove, 22272 Foss Road in Poulsbo. Inurnment will be beside her husband at Riverside Crest cemetery in Seattle.
Memorial donations may be made to Wildlife Land Trust, Humane Society of the United States, 2100 "L" St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20037.
