Mary Morales
Mary Lou Morales, 64, died Nov. 11, 2002, at her Hansville home.
She was born April 21, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas, to Louis and Carolina (Mendoza) Sepulveda, and was raised and educated there.
On May 20, 1972, she married
Gilbert R. Morales in San Antonio.
Mrs. Morales was a 1956 graduate of Burbank High School in San Antonio.
She worked 17 years as a food server and custodian for the South Kitsap School District, retiring in 1996.
Mrs. Morales was a volunteer at Our Lady of Guadalupe Maternity Center in Lakewood and enjoyed crocheting and dancing. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband at the family home, survivors include two sons, Edward G. Towles of San Antonio and John Morales of Port Orchard; two daughters, JoAnn Rohrer of Hansville and Elizabeth Ann Haugen of Silverdale; a sister, Yolanda Guerrero of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Arnold J. Towles.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at The Stone Chapel. A 2 p.m. funeral service will follow at The Stone Chapel, with interment at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo.
Brian O'Connor
Former Port Orchard resident Brian Patrick O'Connor, 17, of Garner, N.C., died Nov. 10, 2002, at his home.
He was born Feb. 7, 1985, in Bremerton to Michael and Heidi O'Connor.
He lived his early years in Port Orchard, attending South Kitsap Christian School. He moved to North Carolina with his family in 1998 and attended Carnage Middle School and Garner Senior High School.
He enjoyed sports and excelled at baseball, soccer and wrestling. He also enjoyed golf and bowling.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Daniel James and Sean Michael O'Connor of Garner; his maternal grandfather, Don Carney of Raleigh, N.C.; his paternal grandparents, Jack O'Connor of Duvall and Catherine O'Connor of Port Orchard; and many aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment
will be at Oakwood cemetery in Raleigh, N.C.
'Red' Patterson
F.M. "Red" Patterson, 81, of Tracyton died Nov. 11, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma.
He was born May 23, 1921, in Spokane to Clifford and Helen (Reynolds) Patterson.
He served in the Army in 1944 and 1945 and earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart during World War II.
He worked as a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1976. He also was a co-owner of Patterson Brother's garage. A jack-of-all-trades, he also enjoyed farming.
He is survived by four sons, Lloyd, Charles and Michael W.
Patterson, all of Bremerton, and Luis A. Patterson of Los Angeles; three daughters, Roxanne Miller and Morna Blessing of Bremerton and Beverly McQueary of Silverdale; and three grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent, where he will be interred.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Rebecca Kniert
Former Kitsap County resident Rebecca Anne Kniert, 50, of Owatonna, Minn., died Nov. 12, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
She was born March 27, 1952, in Bremerton, the daughter of Martin and Beatrice (Cyr) Guibert.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1970 and attended Green River Community College in the office management program.
She married
Tedd Kniert on May 29, 1971, in Port Orchard.
She worked as an office manager in Tacoma for several years before the 1982 birth of her first child. At that point, she chose to be a stay-at-home mom.
As her two children grew, Mrs. Kniert started directing church choirs and planning liturgy and music for Catholic churches in Tacoma. She also gave private piano lessons and enjoyed playing the piano.
The Knierts moved to Houston, Texas, in the 1990s and stayed there three years before moving to Minnesota.
Mrs. Kniert is survived by her husband, Tedd; her mother, Beatrice Guibert of Port Orchard; two sons, Jeffrey and Brian; a brother, David Guibert of Port Orchard; and a sister, Diane Griswald of California. A funeral service is Saturday in Owatonna, under the direction of Brick-Meger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Betty Smith
Betty M. Smith, 66, of Poulsbo died Nov. 3, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born April 18, 1936, in Oklahoma City to David and Ella Strauss.
She married
Rex E. Smith, who preceded her in death earlier this year.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting and painting. She was a member of First
Baptist Church on Bainbridge Island.
She is survived by two sons, Kerry and Martin D. Smith, both of Poulsbo, and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church on Bainbridge Island.
Inurnment will be at Silverdale cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel.
June Bradshaw
June Bradshaw, 82, of Bremerton died of natural causes Nov. 10, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born Jan. 2, 1920, in Wausa, Neb., to John and Ethel Reed.
Her husband, Paul "Rocky" Bradshaw, died in 1973.
She was a member of the Sons of Norway and Eagles.
Survivors include a son,
Jon and his wife, Delores, of Tacoma; a daughter, Paulette Adamski of Bremerton and her husband, Paul; a sister, Phyllis Reed of Wausa; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and brother, Delores and Keene Reed.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sons of Norway, 1018 18th St. in Bremerton.
William Hyde
William C. Hyde, 77, of Port Orchard died Nov. 13, 2002, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
He was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Staton, Ore., to Harry and Alma (Apple) Hyde. He attended South Kitsap High School.
Mr. Hyde served in the Navy during World War II.
He married
Evelen A. Johnson on Jan. 18, 1947, in Port Orchard.
For 15 years, he worked as a sales representative for Consolidated Freight Line of Seattle, retiring in 1980. He also worked as a sales representative for Met Life and Prudential.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening and his family, and he loved animals.
He was a member of the Lutheran church.
Survivors include his wife, of Port Orchard; a daughter, Rita Tate and her husband, Michael, of
Bremerton; and a grandson, Michael Tate and his wife, Jennifer, of Bellevue. He was preceded in death by a sister, June Greer.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home.

Laroyd Van Bullard
Laroyd Van Bullard, 86, of Port Orchard died Nov. 10, 2002, at Belmont Terrace in Bremerton.
He was born April 14, 1916, in Menlo, Wash., to Trevor and Gladys (Butz) Bullard.
He graduated from Valley High School in Menlo in 1933.
Mr. Bullard married
the former June Norine Carroll on May 30, 1941, in South Bend, Wash.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1945 to 1946, achieving the rank of corporal.
He was a civil engineer and served as Kitsap County public works director and engineer, retiring in 1976.
He was a member and past president of the Retired Public Employees Council and was a member of the National Association of County Engineers, which chose him as the nation's top urban and rural county engineer.
He also was past president of the Washington State Association of County Engineers, past president of American Public Works Association, past president of Kitsap County Good Roads Association and past president of the American Road Builders Association.
He enjoyed camping and traveling, and was a member of the Port Orchard United Methodist Church.
Mr. Bullard is survived by his wife, of Port Orchard; a daughter, Cecelia McCready and her husband, Jim, of Port Orchard; two brothers; one sister; five grandchildren, Amy Beth Chamberlin, Jamie, Matthew, Michael and Shawn McCready; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Chamberlin and Alyssa McCready.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Donald Forsmann
Donald Dean Forsmann, 64, of Bremerton died of cancer Nov. 6, 2002, at his home.
He was born Aug. 18, 1938, in Cottonwood, Idaho, to Ben and Anna (Schmidt) Forsmann.
He graduated from Clarkston High School in Clarkston, Wash., in 1956.
Mr. Forsmann was in the Navy from 1956 to 1960 and served aboard USS Hornet (CVS-12) as a damage control fireman.
He married
Sharon Shield Feb. 21, 1959, in Bremerton.
He was a production controller at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for many years before retiring in 1992. After he retired from PSNS, he did woodworking, carpentry and cabinet work for homeowners.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a Mariners fan. He coached pee wees for many years and loved being with his grandchildren.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Mr. Forsmann is survived by his wife; his mother-in-law, Lorraine Shield; three sons, Donald Jr. of Port Orchard, Edward of Bremerton and Joseph of Duvall; a daughter, Kimberly King of Bremerton; two brothers, Vern of Lewiston, Idaho, and Verl of Blackfoot, Idaho; two sisters, Thelma Morrow and Norma Forsmann, both of Lewiston; and eight grandchildren, Brian, Bradley, Donny, Joey, Madison, Isaac, Kristee and Adam.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Arnie, Bert, Leroy and Gerry.
Private family services will be at a later date.
An open house for family and friends will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at the family home. Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Crematory. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
