He was born August 1, 1909 in Muskegon, MI. to Benjamin and Helen (Letart) Caughey.
He married
Elaine M. Sagaser.
Bernard attended high school in Muskegon area in Muskegon, MI., attended the University of Michigan at Lansing, MI., and graduated from the University of Santa Clara in Santa Clara, CA.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a Boatsman's Mate 1st Class/CB's (Construction Battalion) and a member of 1st Special Naval Construction Battalion.
He was a hospital administrator for 20+ years and retired in 1960.
Bernard was a horseman and enjoyed boating and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
He is survived by son Gregory Caughey of Bremerton, WA.and one granddaughter, Jennifer Caughey of Pleasanton, CA.
Graveside services will be held in Los Gatos memorial Park, Los Gatos, CA., at 2:00 p.m on May 30, 2002.

Marvin "Marv" Magures died May 4, 2002 in Poulsbo, WA.
He was born May 25, 1945 in Antioch, CA., to Samuel and Emma (Hopkins) Magures.
Marvin graduated from Antioch High School in Antioch, CA., in 1963.
He married
Ginger Blankenchip in Bremerton, WA., on July 6, 1998.
Marvin worked as a water treatment specialist.
He was a member of North Kitsap ABATE for 11 years, an honorary master of the Sho Rei Shobu-Kan martial art, attaining a 3rd degree black belt.
Marvin was a member of the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.
Marvin is survived by his wife Ginger (Blankenchip) Magures of Poulsbo, WA., mother Ruth Magures of Poulsbo, WA., sons M. Magures and David Magures both of Poulsbo, WA., daughter Charlene Buckmaster of Shoreline, WA., 2 step-sons, 1 step-daughter and 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Sam Magures in 1971 and one sister in 1998.
Funeral services will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, WA., on May 9, 2002 at 1:00 p.m.
Visitation will be May 9, 2002 from noon - 1:00 p.m. at Rill Chapel.
Interment will be at Mountain View cemetery in Poulsbo, WA.
Delia Ortiz Hoyte

Delia Ortiz Hoyte died in an auto accident December 23, 2002 in Benson, Arizona. She was 34.
She was born November 12, 1968 in Big Spring, Texas to Jesus and Guadalupe (Garcia) Ortiz.
Delia graduated from Big Spring High School of Big Spring, Texas in 1986.
She also graduated from Howard County Jr. College of Big Spring, Texas and Olympic College of Bremerton, Washington.
She attended the University of Washington.
She was employed in education - teacher of Spanish in foreign language for youth at Cougar Valley Elementary - North Kitsap - Brownsville Elementary in Brownsville. She also worked for Moore Development Center in Big Spring, Texas and as an assistant for Port Orchard Daycare Center.
She worked a total of 4 years.
She was a member of Hispanic Women for Progress in Big Spring, Texas, was a Girl Scout leader, girls' fast pitch softball coach (U.G.S.A. League in Big Spring, Texas).
She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard, Washington.
Delia is survived by her husband, Thane Hoyte, of the Southworth, Washington family home; parents, Jesus and Guadalupe Ortiz, of Big Spring, Texas; daughter, Dianna Barraza, of Southworth, Washington; sister, Dianna Valdez, of Big Spring, Texas.
A funeral mass will be held January 18, 2003 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard, Washington.
Interment will be held at Fraola cemetery - also of Port Orchard, Washington.
Myrtle Rawlings

Myrtle "Mert" A. Rawlings, 84, of Bremerton, WA, died January 17, 2003, at her home.
Myrtle was born July 25, 1918, in Hattiesburg, MS, to Pink and Carrie (Harris) Buckhaults.
She graduated from high school in Scotia, CA.
Myrtle worked in the food service industry in California, Oregon, and Washington.
She enjoyed crocheting, growing flowers, gardening, traveling, and being around the water.
Myrtle was awesome with anything that had to do with food.
Survivors include her son Bobbie L. Benson, of Eton, GA; daughters Juanita "Cookie" Barnes, of Tacoma, WA, and Carrie Hull, of Puyallup, WA; brother Buck, of Roseburg, OR; 16 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons Leroy Benson and Jake Rawlings.
A ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2003, 2:00PM at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard with a reception following in the Hospitality Room.

John Francis Brust died January 14, 2003 at his Port Orchard, Washington residence. He was 60.
He was born September 25, 1942 in Streator, Illinois to John and Lucille (Kmetz) Brust.
John graduated from Gibson High School in Gibson City in 1960.
He married
Mary (Beck) Brust February 29, 1964 in San Mateo, California.
John served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years.
He started off as an electrician at Hunter's Pt. Naval Shipyard in San Mateo, California.
He retired in 1997 as a Planner/Estimator at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He worked a total fo 33 years.
John enjoyed golf, bowling (he was involved in many bowling leagues), snow skiing, fishing, gardening, camping, and hunting.
He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Beck) Brust of the family home in Port Orchard, Washington; step-mother, Helen JoAnne Brust of Bradenton, Florida; sons - John Eugene Brust and Christopher Scott Brust - both of Port Orchard, Washington; daughter - Ruth Hunt of Port Orchard, Washington; brother - Roger Brust of Lovington, Illinois; 4 grandchildren (4): Steven Dale Hunt, Spencer Lee Hunt, Christopher Sky Brust, Amanda Lynn Brust.
A visitation will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church of Port Orchard, Washington on January 20, 2003 at 12:30 p.m.

Barbara Jo Heritage, 42, formerly of Spokane, WA, died at her home in Bremerton, WA, on January 14, 2003.
She was born May 27, 1960, in Spokane to Richard and Betty Jo (Turner) Maine.
She graduated from Mead High School in 1978 and later from Columbia Christian College in Portland, OR, with a Medical Secretary Degree.
Barbara married
Stuart Heritage on August 8, 1987, in Spokane.
She lived in Washington, DC, Germany, Portland, Spokane, and Bremerton with Stuart as he traveled with his career in the Army.
She sang with the Bremerton Symphony Chorale and enjoyed karaoke, winning numerous contests.
Barbara loved crafts, quilting, and spending quality time with her family.
She belonged to the Central Valley Church of Christ in Silverdale, WA.
Barbara is survived by her husband Stuart, of Bremerton; son Jason, of Bremerton; daughters Jennifer and Ashley, of Bremerton; parents Richard and Betty Jo Maine, of Spokane; brother Jon Maine, of Tri Cities, WA; sisters Terry Kenny, of Cheyenne, WY, and Carol Maine, of Spokane.
A memorial service will be held Monday, January 20, 3:00PM, at Hillcrest Assembly in Bremerton.
A funeral service will be Friday, January 24, 1:00PM, at North Side Church of Christ in Spokane with burial following at Greenwood cemetery.

Doris was employed as a nurses aide at Washington State Veteran's Home for 20 years - retiring December of 2000.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, entertaining her grandchildren, and singing in the church choir.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Doris is survived by her husband, Lelin Cote, of the family home in Port Orchard, Washington; son - Donald A. Volden of Port Orchard, Washington; daughters - LaDonna Sperber of Port Townsend, Washington, Dianna Tolan and LaRane Bartlett - both of Port Orchard, Washington; brothers - Abe L. Myers, Jr. of Gig Harbor, Washington, Robert M. Myers of Olalla, Washington, and John Myers of Burley, Washington; sisters - Virginia Julian of Southworth, Washington and Clara Porter of Port Orchard, Washington.
She is also survived by 8 grandchildren (Roger, Dawn, T.J., Nichole, Elizabeth, Katelynn, Britney, Donny) and 5 great-grandchildren (Marissa, Alexandra, Zia Nichole, Isaiah, Eric).
She was preceded in death by: brothers - Richard H. Myers, Orville Myers, Harvey Myers and sister - Carol Myers.
A memorial service will be held at Burley Bible Church (14687 Olympic Dr. S.E., Burley, WA 98322) at 4:00 p.m. on January 29, 2003.

Marvin H. McKinley died January 21, 2003 in Port Orchard, Washington. He was 74.
He was born in Mulvane, Kansas September 13, 1928 to Leland and Thelma (Hollis) McKinley.
Marvin attended school in Mulvane, Kansas through the 10th grade.
He served in the Army Air Force from 1946-1949.
He attained the rank of E-4.
He worked as a machinist for 13 years; and, also worked in real estate sales for 5 years.
He was a member of the Port Orchard Yacht Club.
Marvin is survived by sons - Darrel McKinley (and Terry) of Kingston, Washington, Larry McKinley (and Janet); daughters - Charmaine Finn (and Dennis) of Woodbine, Georgia; Lunette Baumgartner (and Gene); brothers - Roy McKinley (and Anne) of Oklahoma, Sid McKinley of Kansas, Richard McKinley of Arkansas; sister - Susie Brown of Illinois; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
