Merl Ard
Merl Ard, 90, of Bremerton died Jan. 20, 1999, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
He was born Nov. 5, 1908, in Elsmore, Kan., to Nora E. and Phoche L. (Richwine) Ard. He was a resident of Kitsap County for the past 51 years.
Mr. Ard worked as a brake operator in the sheetmetal shop at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He retired in 1972.
He was a member of Bremerton Masonic Lodge 117, Elks Lodge 1181, the "J" Hawkers Club and a bowling league.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Lavina Knox; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 1986, after 50 years of marriage. He also was preceded in death by his son, Robert Knox, in 1984.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 22 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 23 at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 23, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Private interment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Douglas Stewart
Douglas D. Stewart, 39, of Port Orchard died Jan. 17, 1999, at his home in Port Orchard.
He was born May 9, 1959, in Ajo, Ariz., to William and Shirley (Murphy) Stewart. He was raised and educated in Port Orchard and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Kimball of Port Orchard; and a sister, Jackie Cathers of Port Orchard. His father, William Stewart, preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 22 at Bethany Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.

Kaleb Tremlett
Kaleb Donald Tremlett, age 17 months, died Jan. 19, 1999, at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma.
He was born June 30, 1997, in Bremerton to Keith and Jennifer (Lewis) Tremlett of Gorst.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Kory Allen Tremlett and Keygan Allen Tremlett, both of the family home; his maternal grandmother, Bambie Lewis Tremlett of Gorst; his paternal grandmother, Deanna Sommers of Lakewood; his paternal grandfather, Patrick Tremlett of Tacoma; his paternal great-grandparents, Lawrence and Norma Dahm of Helena, Mont.; and Hannah Tremlett of Tacoma.
Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Jan. 26 at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 26 also at Rill Chapel with interment following at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Beulah (Sullivan) Noe
Beulah (Sullivan) Noe, 90, of Bremerton died Jan. 16, 1999, in Kingston.
She was born Jan. 28, 1908, in Coupeville. She graduated from high school in Coupeville in 1926.
She was a resident of the Willows for the past nine years.
Survivors include a sister, Bessie Snyder of Lacey, and a brother, Mike Sullivan of Coupeville.
At her request, there will be no services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, "The Stone Chapel." Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Crematory.
Bertal Lillehaug
Former Bremerton resident Bertal "Bert" Lillehaug, 101, died Jan. 19, 1999, in Tacoma.
He was born Jan. 24, 1897, in Lane, S.D., to Bolsar and Andrea (Nord) Lillehaug.
On July 2, 1919, he married
Beryl Spracklin.
In 1942, they moved to Bremerton and he started working in the blacksmith shop at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Later, he worked as a caretaker at Coleman Christian Camp, retiring in 1972 after 25 years.
He is survived by one son, Alvin of Seattle; four daughters, Arlene Engel of Sequim, Verda Stroh of Bremerton, Bonnie Rose Eller of Clarks Fork, Idaho, and Bette Ann Burkhart of Gig Harbor; 15 grandchildren, Paul Engel and Rosie Fabina of Florida, Collette Larson of Montana, Sharon Gray and Linda Smith of Bremerton, Alvin Jr. of Woodinville, Don and Greg of Seattle, Susie Millard and Russell Dawson of Idaho, Jim Dawson of Oregon, Tony Psaris of Tacoma, Meagon and Schuyler Burkhart of Tacoma, and Rita Fa lconer of Gig Harbor; 25 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 13, 1989. Also preceding him in death were four brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 23 at the Peninsula Lutheran Church in Gig Harbor with a reception immediately following in the Fellowship Hall.
Memorials may be made to the Peninsula Lutheran Church in Gig Harbor.
Georgia Ann Skelton
Georgia Ann Skelton, 58, of Port Orchard died Jan. 19, 1999, of acute emphysema at her home.
She was born Jan. 26, 1940, in Loma Linda, Calif., to Roy and Tallie Mae (Butler) King. She was raised in San Jacinto, Calif., graduating from San Jacinto High School in 1957.
That same year, she married
Jerry Skelton in San Jacinto.
Mrs. Skelton was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Randy of Port Orchard and Don of Gig Harbor; two daughters, Tamela Johnson of Olalla and Jody Grutzeck of Port Orchard; two brothers, Bob King of San Jacinto, and Jesse King of Newbern, N.C.; her mother, Mae King of San Jacinto; eight grandchildren, Brandee, Mindee, Amanda, Shaneey, Tarrann, Ashlynn, Cari, and Auston, all of Port Orchard; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy King, in 1996.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 22 with a funeral service to follow. Both are at Rill Chapel.
Interment will be in San Jacinto. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
William Johnson
Former Bremerton resident William Henry Johnson, 83, died Jan. 3, 1999, in San Diego.
He was born Oct. 1, 1915, in Owosso, Mich.
In January of 1943, he married
Lauretta "Peg" McManus in Michigan.
Mr. Johnson served in the Navy. He served on the USS Saratoga during World War II and later set up the ordnance lab at the Naval Submarine Base Bangor. He retired as a captain in the Naval Reserve.
After leaving Bremerton, he worked at Lawrence Radiation Lab and Wente Brothers Winery as tour master in Livermore, Calif.
He is survived by two daughters, Sue Guldjord of Poulsbo and Kathi Larson of San Diego; six grandchildren, Jan Seifert, Becky Deeter, and Tina Davis, all of Poulsbo, Rory Guldjord of Seattle and Kari and Kiki Larson of San Diego; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Jan. 7 at Rosecrans cemetery in San Diego.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Heart Association or your favorite charity.
Clara Freeman
Clara Ellen Freeman, 92, of Bremerton died Jan. 19, 1999, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born Jan. 22, 1906, in Altus, Okla.
Mrs. Freeman worked as a seamstress.
She is survived by one daughter, Sue C. Boman of Bremerton; three grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert, in 1964 and her husband, Robert, in 1965.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Jan. 22 at Belmont Terrace. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee Funeral and Cremation Services.
Jennie Muesser
Jennie B. Grinton Muesser, 90, of Olalla died Jan. 18, 1999, at Port Orchard Care Center after a short illness.
She was born June 13, 1908, in Armstrong, British Columbia, to James and Nellie (Bird) Grinton. She attended Mount Baker High School in Deming, Wash.
Mrs. Muesser worked as a waitress and later as a secretary at North Queen Anne Grade School and Queen Anne High School until her retirement.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Meyer of Seattle and Velda Whitlatch of Olalla; a brother, Walter Grinton of Coupeville; two grandchildren, Steven Meyer of Juanita and Robin Whitlach of Olalla; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Muesser in 1948.
Inurnment will be at Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park in Seattle.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Ida Eagleton
Ida Bernice Eagleton, 84, of Port Orchard died Jan. 13, 1999, in Bremerton, of natural causes.
She was born Feb. 28, 1914, in Phoenix to Melvin and Susan (Alford) Harrell. She was raised in Phoenix.
Mrs. Eagleton worked in retail sales of women's apparel, retiring in 1985.
Survivors include a son, Donald Avery of Clearwater, Fla.; a daughter, Shirley Bell of Port Orchard; and four grandchildren, Robin Cummins of Port Orchard, Erin Bozon of Valencia, Calif., Tim Bell of Bothell and Dan Bell of Moorpark, Calif.
A memorial will be conducted at a later date.
