Wayne Dlugosh
Wayne "Duke" Dlugosh, 56, of Bremerton died Jan. 11, 1999, of natural causes.
He was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Bremerton to Ernst and Wilda Dlugosh. He was raised in Port Orchard, graduating from South Kitsap High School in 1959.
In 1964, he married
his wife, Connie, in Bremerton. They divorced in 1971. She preceded him in death in 1985.
Mr. Dlugosh worked in the construction field for 20 years until his retirement. He was a member of union locals 249 and 252.
Survivors include a son, Brian of Port Orchard; a daughter, Brenda of Port Orchard; a sister, Betty Ann Mueller of Port Orchard; and two grandchildren, Brandan Dlugosh of Post Falls, Idaho, and Brinden Sindt-Dlugosh of Seattle.
No services will be conducted.
Beulah (Sullivan) Noe
Beulah (Sullivan) Noe, 90, of Bremerton died Jan. 16, 1999, in Kingston.
She was born Jan. 28, 1908, in Coupeville. She graduated from high school in Coupeville in 1926.
Survivors include a sister, Bessie Snyder of Lacey and a brother, Don Snyder of Olympia.
At her request, there will be no services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, "The Stone Chapel." Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Crematory.
Patricia (Pearson) Shrout
Patricia (Pearson) Shrout, 71, of Rancho Mirage, Calif., died Jan. 16, 1999, at her home.
She was born Sept. 28, 1927, in Aberdeen to Hugh L. and Evelyn L. (Taylor) Pearson.
Ms. Shrout was a civilian employee working for the Navy as a transportation agent, retiring after 25 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Pamela Bonino of Rancho Mirage, Deborah Drouin of Spokane, and Phon Tran of Seattle; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 22 at Fern Hill Chapel in Aberdeen. Interment
will be at Fern Hill cemetery in Aberdeen. Arrangements are under the direction of Palm Springs Mortuary at Cathedral City.
Alfred J. Boe
Alfred J. Boe, 80, of Port Orchard died Jan. 18, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Dec. 26, 1918, in San Francisco to Sigurd and Ingaborg (Hauge) Boe. He was raised in San Francisco.
On May 24, 1943, he married
Frances M. Hall in San Francisco.
Mr. Boe served in the Army. Later, he worked as a marine electrician for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of the Eagles Club for many years and also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mary Frances Prosser of Charlotte, N.C., Jeanette Kay Smith of Bremerton, and Alice Christine Silvey of San Jose, Calif.; one brother, Ingvald of Pacifica, Calif.; one sister, Signe Lafabregue of Reno, Nev.; seven grandchildren, David Prosser, Theresa Watson, Alyce Cameron, Robyn Kellam, Cheryl Jarvis, Matthew Silvey and Jennifer Coy; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. Jan. 20 and from 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 21 at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m Jan. 21 also at Rill Chapel with a reception immediately following in the hospitality room.
Interment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

James McDonald
James "Mac" M. McDonald, 47, of Port Orchard died Jan. 16, 1999, in Port Orchard.
He was born July 30, 1951, in Brockton, Mass., to Henry and Georgianna (Doren) McDonald.
On Dec. 7, 1985, he married
his wife, Carlene, in Charleston, S.C.
Mr. McDonald served in the Army from 1971 to 1973. Later, he worked at Charleston Naval Shipyard from 1984 to 1991. He then worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a pipefitter.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Melanie, Kristy, April and Amy; and one sister, Paula McDonald.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 21 at Rill Chapel. Private inurnment will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Lucille C. Powell
Lucille C. Powell, 78, of Bremerton died Jan. 16, 1999, at her home.
She was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Roundup, Mont., to Gillie and Ralph Abney. She was raised in Red Lodge, Mont., where she graduated from high school. She graduated from Olympic College in 1962.
On March 27, 1943, she married
John Robert Powell in Spokane.
Mrs. Powell was a homemaker. She served in leadership capacities in the Bluebirds, Campfire and Job's Daughters. She was a member of First Christian Church in Bremerton for 50 years where she also taught Sunday School. Mrs. Powell retired from the Bremerton School District.
Volunteer activities included hospice work and RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), from which she received a Volunteer of the Year award in 1998.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Powell Thompson of Seattle, Patti Eberhardt of Virginia Beach, Va., and Cynthia Powell Trowbridge of Kenmore; three sisters, Hazel Douglas, Dorothy Nielsen and Betty Woodard, all of Tacoma; and five grandchildren, Bryan and Patrick Eberhardt of Virginia Beach, Va., and Julian, Allison and Sarah Trowbridge of Kenmore. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Floyd and Roy Dale.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 23 at First Christian Church in Bremerton. Cremation and inurnment arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Rolf Pitts
Rolf Pitts, 73, of Port Townsend died Jan. 17, 1999, at his home.
He was born Aug. 22, 1925, in Los Angeles. He graduated from the University of California with degrees in engineering and law.
Mr. Pitts served in the Navy during World War II. Later, he worked as a patent attorney for North American Rockwell, retiring in 1980.
He is survived by his companion, Penny Brown of Port Townsend; one son, Rolf of Grants Pass, Ore.; one daughter, Marina of San Francisco; and one brother, Don of California.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 30 at First Presbyterian Church in Port Townsend. Arrangements are under the direction of Kosec Funeral Home.

Vivian Gale
Vivian F. Gale, 82, of Bremerton died Jan. 18, 1999, at Oyster Bay Health Care Center.
She was born Sept. 28, 1916, in Wasco County, Ore. She was raised in Portland, Ore., and Coos Bay, Ore., graduating from Coos Bay High School in 1934. She moved to Bremerton in 1934, and trained as a cosmetologist.
On Feb. 6, 1954, she married
Merton Gale in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Mrs. Gale was a homemaker.
She was president of the Eagle's Womens Auxiliary in 1980, past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and a member of Daughters of Union Veterans.
She leaves no survivors.
Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Morris Owens
Morris Vernon Owens, 74, of Bremerton died Jan. 15, 1999, at Northwoods Lodge.
He was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Bedford, Ind., to Roy and Mabel (Borders) Owens. He was raised in Bedford.
Mr. Owens served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He worked with the U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center and School in Savanna, Ill., and with the Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific inside the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor. He retired from federal service in 1989.
On Jan. 28, 1978, he married
Evangelina Marino in Manila, Philippines.
He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge 14; the York Rite of Bedford; Scottish Rite 32 Degrees; Luzon Bodies in the Philippines; the Islam Temple (Shriner) of San Mateo, Calif.; the American Legion Post 68 in Manette; and was a past member of the American Society of Tool and Manufacturing Engineers, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the American Society of Engineers and the Society of Explosive Engineers.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; a son, Robert of Bloomington, Ind.; three daughters, Jean Holmes of Springville, Ind., and Christina and Donna, both of the family home; a brother, Terry of Springville, Ind.; two sisters, Juanita Sykes of Avora, Ind., and Marilyn Amerson of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 21 with a funeral service immediately following, both at Miller Woodlawn. Interment
will follow the service at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Kay Thompson
Kay Leslie Thompson, 82, of Belfair died Jan. 17, 1999, at Forest Ridge Nursing Home.
He was born Sept. 5, 1916, in Grafton, N.D., to Clarence and Eva (Schlange) Thompson. He was raised in South Range, Wis.
On Jan. 8, 1946, he married
Leona Woeshnik in Fond du Lac, Wis. She preceded him in death in 1973. On Aug. 3, 1974, he married
Julia Bailey in Aberdeen.
Mr. Thompson served in the Army from 1941 to 1945 with the 752nd Tank Battalion in North Africa and Italy. He achieved the rank of sergeant.
He worked for his uncle at the Bremerton Hardwood Floor Co., purchased it from him and continued on for several years. He was a carpenter by trade for many years.
He was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Belfair; an early member of the Mason County Fire District 2 Volunteer Fire Department; a past master and 50-year member of Hood Canal Masonic Lodge 288; past patron (several times) of the Belfair Chapter 241 Order of Eastern Star; past associate guardian of Jobs Daughters, Belfair Bethel 43; a 60-year member of the Carpenters Union; and a member of the Eagles Aerie 192 in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Johanna Cates of Belfair and Carol Goddard of Dayton; two brothers, Lyle of South Range and Roger of Fond du Lac; a sister, Ivaloe Adolphson of South Range; three grandchildren, Tammie Elliot, Angela Tanner and Theresa Cates; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 20 at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Belfair Community Baptist Church, 23300 NE State Route 3. Interment
will be at Twin Firs cemetery, Belfair.
