John Merrill
John Francis Merrill, 49, of Bremerton died Feb. 22, 1999, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
He was born June 4, 1949, in Bremerton to Peter and Jane (Travis) Merrill. He graduated from North Mason High School in 1967, and the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., in 1971.
On Nov. 27, 1971, he married
Connie Wells in Bremerton.
He worked as a marine engineer at Crowley Maritime for 12 years, retiring in 1994.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Adam of Bremerton; a daughter, Rebecca Ann Merrill of Bremerton; three brothers, Peter Jr. of Belfair, Frank of Allyn, and Steve of Hansville; and a sister, Melinda Halvorsen of Bremerton.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tracyton United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Hazel Louden
Hazel C. Louden, 81, of Bremerton died Feb. 19, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 16, 1917, in Seabeck to Peter and Hattie (Sacker) Emel.
She attended Lone Rock School in Seabeck and graduated from Port Washington Bay High School (Central Kitsap High School) in 1935. She later graduated from beauty school.
On Nov. 30, 1941, she married
Lester A. Louden in Sultan, Wash. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1991.
Mrs. Louden worked as a retail clerk at Ben Bridge Jewelers in Bremerton for many years and then for Behm Jewelers in Silverdale.
Survivors include a stepson, Richard Louden of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ernie in 1972.
Cremation was under the direction of Cherry Grove Memorial Park. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Josephine McKenzie
Josephine Yvonne McKenzie, 69, of Port Orchard died Feb. 18, 1999, in Port Orchard.
She was born March 24, 1929, in Decatur, Ill., to Orvel and Levina (Calvert) Bilyeau. She was raised in Decatur and graduated from Franklin High School in Seattle in 1948.
On April 27, 1951, she married
Cameron K. McKenzie at the Dunlop Baptist Church in Seattle .
Mrs. McKenzie was an Avon distributor for 20 years, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of the First Baptist churches of Kirkland and Port Orchard and the Presidents Club of Avon Inc. for 14 years.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Richard of Port Orchard, and Kevin and Kenneth, both of Kirkland; two daughters, Barbara of Vancouver, Wash., and Karen of Kirkland; two brothers, Mike and Mark Bilyeau, both of Seattle; two sisters, Martha Gilbertson and Sharon Severe, both of Seattle; and two grandchildren, Ron McKenzie and Sara Sickonic, both of Vancouver, Wash.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Port Orchard First Baptist Church, 2308 Sidney Ave.
Interment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Myrtle Langlow
Former Port Gamble and Poulsbo resident Myrtle S. Langlow, 86, of Tacoma died Feb. 19, 1999, in Tacoma.
She was born Aug. 29, 1912, in Tacoma to Tom and Marie (Haaland) Seeley.
Mrs. Langlow was raised in Tacoma, graduating from Stadium High School in 1929.
On March 9, 1935, she married
Norris S. Langlow. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Kristie Langlow of Seattle and Karen Langlow Benveniste of Tacoma; a sister, Francis Seeley Stensvold of Redmond; and four grandchildren, Scott Farley of Seattle, Evan Farley of Vashon Island, Susan Benveniste of Morristown, N.J., and Sara Benveniste of Seattle. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Frederick Lingham
Frederick Charles Lingham, 60, of Bremerton died Feb. 14, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Lockport, N.Y., to Charles F. and Mary (Merritt) Lingham.
He was raised and educated in Lockport and graduated from Lockport High School in 1956.
Mr. Lingham entered the Navy in 1957, and retired as a petty officer first class in 1978. During his service he was stationed at the Naval Photographic Center, Washington, D.C.; Patrol Squadron 18, Jacksonville, Fla.; USS Yellowstone; Combat Camera Group Atlantic; Pacific Fleet headquarters, Hawaii; Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific, Pearl Harbor; and USS Coral Sea.
He later worked as a police officer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, for Kitsap Mall security and as a bartender at the White Pig Tavern.
On July 2, 1978, he married
Margaret Doering in Las Vegas.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Thomas C. Lingham of Bremerton; a daughter, Kimberly D. Lingham of Peoria, Ill.; a sister, Ann Frances Baker of Medina, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Craig Lingham of Peoria.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment
will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Bert Braaten
Bert Braaten, 87, of Port Orchard died Feb. 19, 1999, at Ridgemont Terrace Convalescent Center in Port Orchard.
He was born Aug. 11, 1911, to Austin and Marit Braaten in Olalla. He was raised there.
He worked as a commercial fisherman, fire marshal, logger and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard worker. He retired in 1993 as a general contractor.
He and his wife, Irma, were married
Oct. 26, 1935. She preceded him in death in 1995.
He is survived by a daughter, Elaine Gaudette of Port Orchard; three brothers, Clarence of Port Orchard and John and Dean, both of Gig Harbor; four sisters, Alice Anderson of Oso, Wash., Irene Lavo of North Carolina, Mary Wright of Blaine, Wash., and Aggie Stornelli of Port Orchard; three grandchildren, Melani Sallee of Montana, Marc Gaudette of San Francisco and Nicole Gaudette of Seattle; and three great-grandchildren. A son, Melvin, and a sister, Clara Fagerud, also preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rill Chapel, with inurnment to follow as Sunset Lane cemetery. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Donald Cammack
Former Bremerton resident Donald M. Cammack, 63, of Vancouver, Wash., died Feb. 17, 1999, in Portland, Ore.
He was born June 28, 1935, in Seattle.
Mr. Cammack served in the Air Force, where he was a member of the Air Force Band.
He received a master's degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma and taught at South Kitsap High School from 1961 to 1962, Hudson Bay High School from 1962 to 1966, and the Evergreen School District from 1978 to 1992.
He was the director of bands at the University of Portland from 1966 to 1972.
He owned Music World and D.C. Premiums Musical Supplies. He most recently owned River City Music Company in Vancouver for 19 years.
Mr. Cammack was preceded in death by his wife, Meredith, in 1991.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff Cammack of Vancouver and Greg of Van Nuys, Calif.; a brother, Nathan, of Eugene, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Gardens Funeral Chapel in Vancouver. A private committal service will follow.

Raymond Sharpe
Raymond Lester Sharpe, 83, of Poulsbo died Feb. 19, 1999, in Bremerton.
He was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Clyde, Kan., to Fred and Ethyl (Burke) Sharpe. He was raised in Oklahoma City, Okla., where he graduated from Capital Hill High School in 1934.
Mr. Sharpe served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945 aboard the USS Anzio in the Pacific Theatre of World War II.
On June 15, 1947, he married
Cynthia Siler. She preceded him in death in 1996.
He worked at Sutherland Lumber Company, retiring in 1980 after 43 years of service.
He was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, Ind., Westside Indianapolis Exchange Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Survivors include two sons, Craig of Vancouver, Wash., and Brian of Bremerton; and a sister, Ruth Swafford of Oklahoma City, Okla.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wheatland United Methodist Church in Wheatland, Okla. Interment
will follow at 3 p.m. at Moore cemetery in Moore, Okla.
Arrangements are by Vondell Smith Funeral Home in Oklahoma City and Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
