Edgar Fitzwater
Edgar E. Fitzwater, 83, of Vancouver, Wash., died of a heart attack on Dec. 31, 1998.
He was born June 5, 1915, in Ruby, Alaska, to Everest B. and Ella Louise Fitzwater. He was raised and educated in Bremerton, graduating from Union (Bremerton) High School in 1933.
On April 20, 1940, he married
June Holbrook in Bremerton.
Mr. Fitzwater owned one of the first two bulldozer businesses in the Bremerton area. Among his first jobs were clearing the Bangor ordnance depot and Manchester fuel depot for the Navy. Most recently, he worked for 11 years in the Juneau and Glennallen areas of Alaska.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Gold Beach, Ore.; the Elks Lodge in Brookings, Ore.; the Hudson Auto Club of Vancouver, Wash.; and the Operating Engineers Union 302.
Survivors include his wife, and his brother Jim of Bremerton. He was preceded in death by a brother Fred in 1987; and a sister Louise Niemi in 1998.
At Mr. Fitzwater's request, there will be no service.
Raymond Heaney
Raymond B. Heaney, 64, of Port Orchard died Feb. 8, 1999, at his home.
He was born March 9, 1934, in Cascade, Mont., to Bernard and Pauline (Paulson) Heaney. He was raised and educated in California.
On May 30, 1970, he married
Mary Kraus in Reno, Nev.
Mr. Heaney served in the Navy from 1949 to 1952 as a radarman during the Korean War. He later worked for nine years with K-2 on Vashon Island and most recently as a greeter at Wal-Mart.
He was a member of the St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael of Ukiah, Calif., and William of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, James of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Brian and Christopher Heaney, both of Ukiah.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at a later date.

Natasha Hill
Natasha "Tasha" Junell Hill, 15, of Seabeck died
Feb. 6, 1999, following complications from streptococcus A infection at Children's Hospital in Seattle.
She was born April 13, 1983, in Bremerton to Jim Hill and Rosalind O'Hara. She attended Central Kitsap schools, including Kings West and Klahowya Secondary School.
Tasha was a member of the cheerleading squad and the volleyball team at Kings West School.
Survivors include her parents; a sister, Alisha of Seabeck; a stepfather, George O'Hara of Poulsbo; maternal grandparents, Glady McNabb of Poulsbo and Archie and Norma Lien, both of Poulsbo; and a stepgrandmother, Margaret O'Hara of Florida.
A candlelight celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Christ Memorial Church, Eighth Street and Hostmark Avenue in Poulsbo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Lorraine Brooks
Lorraine Ann Brooks, 56, of Port Orchard died of pneumonia Feb. 5, 1999, at Port Orchard Care Center.
She was born June 13, 1942, in Blue Island, Ill., to Harry Bowen and Elizabeth Saffer. She was raised and educated in Port Orchard, attending South Kitsap High School.
On Jan. 8, 1960, she married
Richard Brooks in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, David and Richard, both of Port Orchard; two daughters, Diane Veach and Kathleen Brooks, both of Port Orchard; a brother, Robert Bowen of Steilacoom; 13 grandchildren, Richie of Tacoma, Chris, Cody, Anthony, Brittany, Mike, Joshua, Becky, Jason, Haley, Christine, Niki and Trisha, all of Port Orchard; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rill Chapel. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.

Carl Ullin
Carl "Woody" Ullin, 85, died Jan. 31, 1999.
He was born April 18, 1913, in Seattle. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1935, and was a member of the two-team West Coast squad that introduced football to Japan in 1935.
In 1939, he married
Beverly Rolin.
Mr. Ullin was a West Seattle High School gym teacher from 1940 to 1970, also coaching track and football for 20 years.
He was a member of the Puget Sound Gillnetters Association for 34 years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, David; a daughter, Janis; a brother, Chet of Bremerton; and two grandchildren, Sam and Heidi Staton.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 20 at Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel, 6701 30th Ave. SW, in West Seattle.
Elizabeth Ferguson
Elizabeth Ferguson, 72, of Port Orchard died as a result of liver disease Feb. 6, 1999, at her home.
She was born July 21, 1926, in Portland, Maine, to Lewis and Grace (Carson) Orr. She was raised and educated in Seattle, graduating from Queen Anne High School in 1944.
On Dec. 10, 1957, she married
William Ferguson in Everett.
Mrs. Ferguson was a homemaker.
She was a member of the South Kitsap Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Jim of Bainbridge Island; a daughter, Kathy Pritchard of Port Orchard; a brother, Rufus of Seattle; and four grandchildren, Jordan and Evan Ferguson, both of Bainbridge Island, and Matthew and Cory Pritchard, both of Port Orchard.
At her request, there will be no service.

Doris May
Longtime Gig Harbor-Olalla resident Doris Mercedese May, 80, died Feb. 7, 1999.
She was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Everett.
Mrs. May was a retired school teacher, having taught at Subic Bay Elementary in the Philippines and at Southworth Elementary in the South Kitsap School District.
Survivors include her husband, Merl May; three sons, James of Gig Harbor, William of Olalla and Michael of Walla Walla; a sister, Adeline Tryon of Marysville; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Haven of Rest Chapel. Interment
will be at Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
James Harvey
James Leo Harvey, 69, of Bremerton died Feb. 6, 1999, at his home.
He was born July 28, 1929, in York, Pa., to Ernest and Agnes (Philbin) Harvey. He graduated from Bremerton High School and then from Olympic College with a degree in technical engineering.
Mr. Harvey served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He later worked for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a technical architect, retiring in 1985.
Survivors include his wife, Minda (Tru) Harvey; a son, Jim of San Diego; a daughter, Linda Culp of Bremerton; and five grandchildren, Ashlee, Allison, Tiara, Lauren and Casey.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday with a funeral service following at 1 p.m., both at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment
will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Victor Smith
Victor Judson Smith, 77, of Poulsbo died Feb. 7, 1999, in Poulsbo.
He was born Nov. 24, 1921, in Kirkland. He attended North Kitsap High School.
On June 12, 1976, he married
Marilyn Smith on Bainbridge Island.
Mr. Smith served in the Navy. He worked for Steinberg Brothers as a clothing salesman for 25 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the American Legion of Bainbridge Island.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry of Bainbridge Island; two daughters, Diana Anderson of Stanwood and Deborah Smith of Gig Harbor; a brother, Vard of Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Victor and Chris, both of Stanwood, Dennis of Oklahoma, and Larry, Nick and Jeff, all of Gig Harbor; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home. A gathering at the family home in Poulsbo will follow the service.
