Opal Marie Wilson died November 17, 2003 at her residence in Southworth, Washington. She was 83.
She was born November 6, 1920 in Rosepine, Louisiana to Charles and Minnie (Bell) Baker.
She married
Walter L. Wilson October 2, 1982 in Sequim, Washington.
Opal graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Wasington in 1938.
She worked as a beautician at Opal's Beauty Shop in Olalla from 1952 to 1963; and owned and operated "Small Fry Supply" children's clothing store in Port Orchard from 1953 to 1955.
Opal enjoyed gardening and helping people by volunteering at ALIVE, battered women's shelter.
She was an active member and attended the following churches in her life: Olalla Bible Church where she taught Sunday School for 14 years to youth, Neighborhood Alliance Church in Bremerton, First Christian Church in Port Orchard.
Opal is survived by her husband - Walter Leon Wilson - of the Southworth, Washington family home; sons - Monte Mastick (& wife, Mary) of Shelton, Washington, Ron Mastick (& wife, Judy) of Grapeview, Washington, Rick Best (& wife, Cathy) of Olalla, Washington; step-daughter - Randi Goode (& husband, Dave) of Las Cruces, New Mexico; grandchildren (16): Leon Fox, Mark Mastick, Mary Long, Monica Stephenson, Matthew Mastick, Melody Osborne, Mianne Flores,Timmy Mastick, Randall Mastick, Rob Mastick, David Mastick, Diane Kohrs, Shelly Lincoln, Michael Best, Jason Best, David W. Goode; great-grandchildren (34).
She was preceded in death by: first husband, Merrell Mastick, killed in action during WWII in 1945; second husband, Fredrick "Bob" Best, died in 1974; granddaughter - Michelle Deibert; great grandson - Michael Anthony Deibert; brother - Walter Baker; sisters - Vera Baker, Dorothy Walsh, Nina Schlittenhardt, Hazel Baker, Gladys Zink, Mildred McManus.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2003 at the First Christian Church in Port Orchard, Washington.
Interment will be held at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton, Washington.

Colleen Eichorst
Colleen F. Eichorst died October 31, 2003 in Manchester, Washington. She was 75.
She was born September 27, 1928 in Oxford, Kansas to Robert and Genevieve (Lennon) Brown.
Colleen married
Alden Fosberg in Seattle, Washington.
She worked 35 years as a legal secretary in Seattle, Washington - retiring in 1998.
She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
Collen is survived by her mother, Genevieve Hirsch, of Wichita, Kansas; sons - Robert and Michael Fosberg of Olalla, Washington, Brian Fosberg of Des Moines, Washington, Glenn Fosberg of Port Orchard, Washington; brother - Robert Brown of Wichita, Kansas; 3 grandchildren (Holly Fosberg, Mark Fosberg, Brittany Fosberg). She was preceded in death by sister - Lorraine.
A funeral service was held at Holyrood cemetery, Seattle, Washington on Tuesday November 4, 2003 at 1:00 p.m.

Dick Backstrom
Dick Backstrom of Port Orchard, Washington died November 17, 2003 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington. He was 62.
He was born September 16, 1941 in Newberg, Oregon to Ben and Tina (Kerttula) Backstrom.
He attained his GED locally in Bremerton.
Dick was a member of Harper Evangelical Free Church.
He is survived by his brother - Melvin Backstrom (& wife, Barbara) of Port Orchard, Washington; sister - Alice Starkey of Tacoma, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Harper Evangelical Free Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2003.

Kenneth Laur
Kenneth James Laur died November 22, 2003 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington. He was 43.
He was born January 26, 1960 in Okinawa, Japan to Neal and Mitsuko (Akamine) Laur.
Kenneth married
Kimberly (Runge) Laur July 24, 1982 in Olympia, Wasington.
He worked at Les Schwab/Shaub-Ellison Tire Stores (the last 14 years at the store in Bremerton on 6th Avenue). He worked there since 1988.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Kimberly Laur, of the Port Orchard, Washington family home; his parents - Neal and Mitsuko Laur of Olympia, Washington; sons - Matthew James Laur (freshman at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington), Thomas Ryan Laur of Port Orchard, Washington; brother - Dave Laur of Olympia, Washington; sister - Suzi Campbell of Olympia, Washington; 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
Visitation will be held at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington on Tuesday, November 25, 2003 from 12 noon through 5:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at 1:00 p.m.
Inurnment will be held at Sunset Lane Memorial Park, also in Port Orchard, Washington.
Minnie Spear
Minnie Agnes Spear died November 25, 2003 at the Port Orchard Care Center in Port Orchard, Washington. She was 94.
Minnie was born in Turton, South Dakota February 21, 1909 to Albert A. and Anna (Sandeen) Getsgo.
She married
Loren Spear April 22, 1927 in Turton, South Dakota.
She worked as a nurse (LPN) at the Naval Hospital in Bremerton, Washington (working in new born nursery); and, retired after about 30 years.
Minnie crocheted baby layettes for the Mission Program at First Lutheran in Port Orchard.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.
Minnie is survived by son - Ernest A. Spear (& wife, Roma) of Bremerton; brother - Leo Getsgo (& wife, Dorothy) of Sturgis, South Dakota; sisters - Ruby Smith (& husband, Bernie) of Portland, Oregon, Mary Beltzner of Petaluma, California, Verna Baker of Delevane, Wisconsin; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great/great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: son - Lawrence Spear, daughter - Evelyn Young, granddaughter - Susan Spear, brother - Walter Getsgo, sisters - Laura Pelto and Esther Bunnell.
Interment will be held at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard on Saturday, November 29, 2003, at 1:00PM. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at 11:00AM at First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.

John McMillen
John Mitchell McMillen died at Martha and Mary Health Center in Poulsbo, Washington on November 24, 2003. He was 74.
He was born in Hume, Missouri on March 30, 1929 to Jacob and Charlotte (Jenkins) McMillen, Sr.
John married
Dorothy Mae (Dyer) McMillen on August 3, 1949 in Newport Beach, California. Dorothy died May 11, 2002.
He graduated from Buena Vista High School in Buena Vista, Colorado in 1947.
He served in the US Navy from 1948-1968 as a Hospital Corpsman First Class (HM1); and, won many medals for his markmanship.
After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a Shipwright at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington for 20 years. He retired in 1988.
John was active in the CB Club with his wife; enjoyed bowling - participating in several leagues; participated in the Joy Group through his church; was a past member of the VFW; enjoyed hunting and fishing in earlier years.
He was a member of Navy Yard City Bible Church in Bremerton.
John is survived by daughters - Jean Wall (& husband, Eldon) of Bremerton, Washington, Johnnie Duhon (& husband, Bob) of Forest Grove, Oregon; brothers - Jacob McMillen, Jr. of Port Orchard, Washington, Edwin McMillen of Missouri; sisters - Dorthy Burris of Missouri, Estelle Montier of Missouri, Mary Wills of Missouri, Katherine Willoughby of Missouri; 8 grandchildren (Ron Wall, Kristofer Wall, Dori Johnson, Jeni Wall, Ginger Midkiff, Art Duhon, Jr., Zachery Duhon, Chad Duhon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae (Dyer) McMillen.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 30, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Navy Yard City Bible Church.
Interment will be held at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent, Washington on Friday, November 28, 2003 at 10:30 a.m.

John Lamey
Reverend John F. Lamey of Port Orchard, Washington died December 2, 2003 at the Port Orchard Care Center. He was 81.
He was born in Portland, Oregon January 22, 1922 to John and Eleanor (Huffman) Lamey.
John married
Patricia A. (Whitfield) Lamey May 24, 1945 in Evanston, Illinois.
He graduated from Evanston Township High School in Evanston, Ilinois in 1940; and, attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
John served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 during WWII - attaining rank of Ensign. He served on the U.S.S. Toconic with the Atlantic Fleet.
He worked as a salesman for McKinney Hardware in the midwest for 25 years; and was a minister with the United Church of Religious Science for 20 years - retiring in 1991.
John was active with the Boy Scouts of America; and, enjoyed playing the clarinet and saxiphone and playing in a band and orchestra.
He was a member and past minister with the United Church of Religious Science.
John is survived by his wife, Patricia (Whitfield) Lamey of the Port Orchard, Washington family home; sons - Greg Lamey (& wife, Mary) of Mukilteo, Washington, Malcolm Lamey of Silverdale, Washington; daughter - Anne Lehmkuhl (& husband, Merlyn) of Port Orchard, Washington; 6 grandchildren (Jim Redfield, Chris Redfield, Ryan Lamey, Alexa Lamey, Sara Lamey, Andrea Lamey).
A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 14, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church Center for Spiritual Living (206 N. "J" Street, Tacoma, WA).
Inurnment will be held at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard, Washington.

Harold James Hauenstein, 93, of Bremerton died Monday in Bremerton.
He was born in Scranton, N.D., to Morris and Mathilde (Holte) Hauenstein. He graduated from Stanwood High School in Stanwood, Washington, in 1928.
On December 2, 1933, he married
Gertrude Heath in Snoqualmie.
Mr. Hauenstein was employed as a sheetmetal worker at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the Kitsap Banjo Band and volunteered with Lutheran Social Services.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Hauenstein and his wife, Lorraine, of Kent and Gary Hauenstein and his wife, Judy, of Tacoma; a brother, Norman Hauenstein of Florida; a sister, Violet Thomas of Issaquah; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hauenstein was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Vickie Hauenstein, and two sisters, Wilma Kahler and Mildred Hauenstein.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rill Chapel's Life tribute Center in Port Orchard. Interment
will be at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
