Mae Clemons
Mae Ilene Clemons, 75, of Silverdale died March 11, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Aberdeen to Edwin and Minnie (Kalm) Johnson. She was raised and educated in Aberdeen, graduating from Wishkah High School in 1941.
She worked briefly at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in the 1940s, but spent most of her life as a homemaker and caregiver.
Survivors include three daughters, Jan Winter of Bremerton, Alleen "Dixie" Carver and Chris Vargas, both of Poulsbo; a brother, Bob Johnson of Oregon; four sisters, Ann Martinez of Port Orchard, Ellen Fletcher of Arizona, Evelyn Mosier of Belfair and Margaret of Tacoma; four grandchildren, Darlene Piper and Kim Zaugg of Port Orchard, Tina Hughes of Gig Harbor and Michael Vargas of Poulsbo; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11070 Old Frontier Road, Silverdale.
Arrangements are by Tuell-McKee Funeral Home.

Rosendo Macias
Rosendo R. Macias, 81, of Bremerton died of a heart attack March 3, 1999.
He was born Sept. 6, 1917, in Jalisco, Mexico.
Mr. Macias is survived by his twin brother, Ramon of Bremerton, and an older brother in Jalisco, Mexico.
A memorial service will be Saturday at the Storehouse in Poulsbo.

Joyce Justice
Joyce Lynne Justice, 44, of Port Orchard died of myeloma March 8, 1999, at her home.
She was born Feb. 1, 1955, in Taft, Calif., to Bill and Freda Lu (Shuffield) Davis. She was raised in Port Orchard, attending South Kitsap High School.
On Aug. 7, 1992, she married
John R. Justice in Stateline, Nev.
Mrs. Justice worked for the South Kitsap School District as a school bus driver for 15 years, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Port Orchard.
Survivors include her husband; her father; two sons, Jeremy Markham of Silverdale and Joshua Markham of Port Orchard; a daughter, Julie Bussard of Napa, Calif.; a brother, Jerry D. Davis of Manchester; her grandmother, Pauline Shuffield of Silverdale; and a grandchild, Nicholas Markham of Port Orchard.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rill Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Marjorie Black
Marjorie Mae Bowman Black, 89, died March 7, 1999, at Messenger House on Bainbridge Island.
She was born Mabel Dixon on Oct. 23, 1909, in Chicago to Amelia and Earl Dixon. At age 4, following her mother's death, she was adopted by Ella and Chauncey Bowman and given her adopted name.
On Jan. 10, 1929, she married
Donald R. Black in Champaign, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1989, after 60 years of marriage.
Mrs. Black had been associated with various congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses in Illinois, California and Washington over the years.
Survivors include five daughters, Barbara Knight and Carol Harp, both of San Jose, Calif., Donna Wolthausen of Silverdale, Virginia Sparling of Monroe and Paula Brooks of Wishram; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Silverdale Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 12400 Central Valley Road NE.
Chriss Widman
Chriss E. Widman, 78, of Port Orchard died March 8, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Dec. 16, 1920, in Port Townsend to William and Sophie (Anderson) Widman. He was raised in Port Townsend and graduated from Chimacum High School.
On Feb. 22, 1985, he married
Betty Gallegos in Port Orchard.
Mr. Widman served in the Navy from 1940 to 1947 in the Pacific during World War II. He later worked as a firefighter at Bangor for 20 years before becoming a boiler room operator at Harrison Hospital, retiring after 10 years.
He was a member of the Snohomish Tribe, the Port Orchard Eagles 2338, and he was a volunteer firefighter at the Westgate fire station on Rocky Point in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Bryan of Poulsbo; three daughters, Sharon Johns and Valerie Rotmark, both of Poulsbo, and Teresa Sopke of Indiana; three stepsons, Nick Gallegos of Bremerton and John and Bob Gallegos, both of Port Orchard; a stepdaughter, Delores Magneson of Bremerton; a brother, Walter of Cathlamet; a sister, Martha (Broderson) Poor of Sedro Woolley; 14 grandchildren, Melissa, Christopher and Nathan, all of Indiana, Erin of Arizona, Bryan of Missouri, Mathew of Texas, Tiare of Oreg on, Chip of Washington, D.C., Deena, Joanna, Robyn, Jessica, Michael and Chriss, all of Washington state. He was preceded in death by four sisters.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Port Orchard Church of Christ.

Frank Yenko Jr.
Frank William Yenko Jr., 77, of Bremerton died March 5, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Aug. 7, 1921, in Pueblo, Colo., to Frank William Yenko Sr. and Mary (Tarlip) Yenko.
He was raised and educated in Pueblo, graduating from high school there in 1938.
On Dec. 28, 1946, he married
the former Donna Engebretson in Port Orchard.
Mr. Yenko joined the Navy in 1942 and was discharged in 1948 with the rank of metalsmith first class.
He held the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He retired from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1976 after more than 25 years.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Yenko is survived by sons Frank William Yenko III of Seattle and Thomas Yenko of Bremerton; a daughter, Jeanne Jones of Olympia; a sister, Anne Kasel of Pueblo; and three grandchildren.
At his request there will be no service. Burial will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Adeline Jacobson
Adeline Elizabeth Jacobson, 96, of Poulsbo died of natural causes March 3, 1999, at Martha & Mary Nursing Home.
She was born June 29, 1902, in Tacoma to Gordon and Adelia (Gilman) Dean. She was raised in Parkland, graduating from Stanwood High School in 1920. She later graduated from Bellingham Normal School, then a teachers college.
In 1922, the former Miss Anderson married
Chris Jacobson in Tacoma. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Mrs. Jacobson taught school at Colfax. She was also a receptionist and organist at Miller-Reynolds (now Miller-Woodlawn) Funeral Home for 37 years, retiring at age 84.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church for 75 years, 25 of them as an organist.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Johnson and Ann Williams, both of Poulsbo, and Mary Jacobson of Aberdeen; nine grandchildren, Judy Rilli and Mike Johnson of Bremerton, Scott Williams and Lisa Hertz of Arizona, Sherry Hansen of Chehalis, Kimberlee Hoover of Poulsbo, Holly Stewart of Clarkston and Wendy and Mark Bjorklund, both of Olympia; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service is planned. A memorial celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Our Savior's Memorial Fund or to your favorite charity.
John Beck
John Forrester Beck, 66, of Belfair died March 7, 1999.
He was born June 29, 1932, in Coweta, Okla., to William and Essie (Robertson) Beck. He was raised and educated in Port Orchard, graduating from South Kitsap High School in 1950.
Mr. Beck worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1987 after 36 years of federal service.
He was a member of the Active Club 20-30, the National Association of Naval Technical Supervisors, the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a charter member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association Chapter WA "O." He was the Exalted Ruler of the Shelton Elks Lodge 2647.
Survivors include his wife, the former Marilyn Kay Kimrey; a son, Jonathan Craig of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Haani Anine Davies of Port Orchard; a sister, Dixie Mae Cundiff of Belfair; and four grandchildren, Amanda and Brandon Lugo, both of Port Orchard, Melissa Larsen of Tucson, Ariz., and Tina Larsen of Cary, N.C. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Jennings Jr.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Shelton Elks Lodge 2647, SE 741 Craig Road, Shelton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel, with cremation arrangements by Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Vernon Slater
Vernon W. Slater, 72, of Port Orchard died March 6, 1999.
He was born April 26, 1926, in Brush, Colo.
Mr. Slater served in the Army during World War II. He later worked as a self-employed general contractor.
He was a member of the Manchester Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; four sons, Larry, Lonnie, Ronald and Brian; 11 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Haven of Rest Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at 12:30 p.m. at the Manchester Community Church.
