Marlene Nix
Marlene E. Nix, 65, of Port Orchard died Feb. 25, 1999.
She was born Aug. 2, 1933, in Yakima to Earl and Mildred (Dennis) McMullen and was raised in Yakima, graduating from Yakima High School in 1950.
In July 28, 1984, she married Melvin E. Nix, in Bremerton.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Gail Geisler of Oxnard, Calif., and a sister, Doris Martin of Alta Loma, Calif. She was preceded in death by a son, Greg Alexander in 1991.
No services have been scheduled at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2383, Bremerton, WA 98310.

"Connie" Schakel
Cornelia "Connie" A.C. Schakel, 60, of Bremerton died Feb. 17, 1999, in Bremerton.
She was born March 29, 1938, in Rotterdam, Holland. She was a naturalized American citizen.
She was retired and had most recently worked in the insurance and banking fields.
She was a member of the American Kennel Club and English Setter Association of America.
She is survived by a sister, Henny Bergwerff of Rotterdam.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady Star Of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Humane Society or any pet or animal rescue organization of the donor's choice.

Theodore Falvai
Infant Theodore Nicholas Michael Falvai, 1 day old, of Bremerton died March 1 1999, in Bremerton.
He was born Feb. 28, 1999, to Sally (Fegley) Falvai.
He is survived by his mother and his godmother, Donna Nordman.
A graveside service was conducted March 4 at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

James Moreland
James Wilber Moreland, 89, of Retsil died Feb. 26, 1999, at the Washington State Veterans home at Retsil.
He was born March 8, 1909, in Pennfield, Ill., to Jessie W. and Alice (Cole) Moreland.
He graduated in 1924 from Minot High School in Minot, N.D. He received a bachelor's degree in 1927 and a master's degree in 1931, both from the University of Illinois in Chicago.
In 1942, he graduated from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., with a master's degree in public health. He graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1957 with a master's degree in anesthesiology.
In 1932, he married Jennie McCrea in San Bernardino, Calif. She preceded him in death in 1986.
Mr. Moreland was a colonel in the Army from 1942 to 1946, serving in Germany.
He was director at the methadone clinic in San Bernardino County, Calif., retiring in 1975 after three years of service.
He also was a San Bernardino County public health officer from 1949 to 1955 and a Marin County public health officer from 1941 to 1949. He was an anesthesiologist in San Bernardino from 1955 to 1971.
He was a member of the San Bernardino County Medical Society, American Medical Association and the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Port Orchard.
Survivors include a son, John of Gig Harbor; a daughter, Jeanne Hutcheson of Ocean Shores; two sisters, Alice Gleitsman of Redlands, Calif., and Carol Moreland of Bismark, N.D.; and six grandchildren, Byron Blount, Cheryl Curran, Jennifer Lyons, John Moreland, Wendy Kleven and Alex Moreland. He was preceded in death by a brother, John, and a son, James.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Retsil Chapel. Inurnment will be at the Retsil cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Eunice Jacobson
Eunice Mattie Jacobson, 76, of Bremerton died Feb. 27, 1999, in Bremerton.
She was born Feb. 5, 1923, in Minnesota.
Survivors include a son, Frank Jacobson Jr.; two daughters, Margaret Cramer and Susan Cottom; two brothers, Cleo and Preston Bruhn; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Jacobson Sr.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bonney-Watson, Washington Memorial, in Sea-Tac.

William Entrekin
William "Bill" Entrekin, 80, of Port Orchard died after a lengthy illness March 1, 1999, at Cottesmore of Life Care in Gig Harbor.
He was born Jan. 9, 1919, in Easley, S.C., to Thompson and Amanda (Thompson) Entrekin. He was raised in Easley, graduating from Easley High School in 1937.
On May 22, 1945, he married Betty Young in Dodge City, Kan.
Mr. Entrekin served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was discharged in 1945. He managed Cassel's Variety Store in Easley for two years before making shirts and managing the shipping and receiving department for the next 19 years at Lanier Manufacturing.
He then managed LaQuinta Inns, working together with his wife. He retired in 1988 after more than 16 years with the company.
He was a member of the Lions Club in Easley.
Survivors include his wife and a daughter, Caroline Cordrey of Port Orchard. He was preceded in death by a son, Phil, in 1988.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. today at South Kitsap Presbyterian Church.
Inurnment will be at Maplewood cemetery in Harrison, Ark.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the South Kitsap Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 4705 Jackson Ave. SE, Port Orchard, WA 98366.

Dwight Blaisdell
Dwight G. Blaisdell, 82, of Port Orchard died Feb. 27, 1999, in Port Orchard.
He was born April 21, 1916, in Franklin, Maine, to Truman and Bessie (Hinton) Blaisdell.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle and was a shipfitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1982.
On Feb. 16, 1951, he married Shirley J. Holmes in Bremerton.
Mr. Blaisdell was a charter member of Bremerton Community Theater, the Methodist Church, the Santa Clara Chorale, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Peroni Opera Guild.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael of Pacific and James of Gig Harbor; two daughters, Marcia Acoba of Port Orchard and Laurel Check of North Bend; a brother, Hinton of Spokane; two sisters, Waranna Blum of Acampo and Margaret Bryant of Seattle; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Port Orchard Methodist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

David Silva
David Manuel Silva, 62, of Bremerton died March 2, 1999, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
He was born Feb. 11, 1937, in Carmel, Calif., to Manuel James and Clara P. (Hatfield) Silva. He was raised in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1954.
He married his wife, the former Patricia Lewis, in Bremerton.
Mr. Silva worked in carpentry and construction for 40 years and then taught at Bates Technical College for five years, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the carpentry union.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Clara P. Johnson of Bremerton; two sons, Tony of Bremerton and Michael of Everett; a sister, Sue Hushman of Bremerton; a grandchild, Hayley of Bremerton; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, with a funeral service immediately following, both at MillerWoodlawn Funeral Home. Interment icon will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 557 Roy St., Seattle, WA 98109.

Jim Carter
Jim Carter, 93, of Manchester died March 2, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Nov. 21, 1905, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Lorenzo and Dorothy Carter. He was raised in Glascow, Mont., and attended Hillard High School in Spokane.
In 1930, he married Mabel Bush in Seattle.
Mr. Carter worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 33 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1966. After retirement, he worked for the Department of Natural Resources for seven years.
He was a life member of Scottish Rite, a member of the South Kitsap School Board from 1962 to 1966, a member of Elim Lutheran Church for 47 years, a past master of the Masonic Lodge 98 and a past president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim of Chelan; two daughters, Jeannette Olson of Arizona and Dorothy Smith of Port Orchard; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Rill Chapel. A memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Elim Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
