Florence Parnell
Florence Parnell, 56, of Kingston died Feb. 25, 1999, in Seattle.
She was born July 20, 1942, in Bremerton to Arold and Mabel Nelson.
She was raised in Kingston, graduating from North Kitsap High School in 1960.
On Dec. 5, 1959, she married
William L. Parnell in Kingston.
Mrs. Parnell and her husband were partners in several businesses.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Kevin of Hansville; a daughter, Carolyn Offenbacker of Kingston; a brother, Frank Purich of Stanwood; and six grandchildren, Tyler and Cierra Parnell, and Marty, Aaron, Calvin and Chad Offenbacker.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Kingston Christian Church. A private family inurnment will be at Poulsbo City cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Henry McVeigh
Henry Laverne McVeigh, 83, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Feb. 27, 1999, at his home.
Born April 22, 1915, in Spaulding, Neb., to Thomas and Jennie McVeigh, he was raised in Spaulding and graduated from Spaulding High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1937 to 1939, and later worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 33 years, retiring in 1970. He was a welder in the shipyard and also worked as a barber.
He was a musician. His first band was the Sand Hill Cattle Rustlers back in Spaulding. He was a member of the Northwest Fiddlers Association and called square dances at the Belfair Barn in the 1950s and 1960s.
He married
Carrie Bass on Nov. 10, 1967, in Tacoma. She survives him, as do sons Norman of Belfair, Dennis of Vashon and David of Bremerton; daughters Teresa McVeigh and Susan Fischer, both of Bremerton; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be March 3 at 10 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m., both at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton. Burial will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park following the service.

Ellen Johnston
Ellen T. Johnston, 90, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Feb. 26, 1999, in Gig Harbor.
She was born Jan. 31, 1909, in Port Orchard to Percy and Lalie (Scott) Tucker. She was raised in Port Orchard, but graduated from Graton High School in Graton, Calif.
She worked as a secretary for the Kitsap County superintendent of schools.
She was a member of Port Orchard Church of Christ.
In February 1931, she married
James E. Johnston in Los Angeles. He died in 1955.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice Townsend of Minneapolis, Minn.; a brother, Richard Tucker of Gig Harbor; sisters Alice Bowman of Bremerton and Lois Prather of Port Orchard; grandchildren Bret Townsend of Belfair and Glen Townsend of Minneapolis; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be March 2 at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. A service will be held at
11 a.m. March 3 at Port Orchard Church of Christ, 2585 Carr Lane SE. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Carlene Matson
Carlene F. Matson, 72, a resident of Olalla for the past 60 years, died April 26, 1999.
She was born July 8, 1926, in Wilmington, Calif. She was a graduate of South Kitsap High School
Mrs. Matson was a member of the Sons of Norway Oslo Lodge 2-35 and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Terry of Olalla; and four grandsons, Reed McClintock and Clark, Blain, and Lamont Matson.
At her request, there will be no services.
Inurnment will be at Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
Joyce Lind
Joyce A. Lind, 54, of Olympia died April 7, 1999, of complications of dementia in Lakewood.
She was born Oct. 6, 1944, in Aberdeen to Bertil and Florence (Asplund) Lind. She was raised in Bremerton and graduated from West High School in 1962.
She attended Seattle Pacific College, working toward her registered nurse certificate, and received her bachelor's degree at the University of Washington in 1966. In 1970, she received graduate training at Bethell Seminary in St. Paul, Minn.
Ms. Lind worked in obstetrics during the late 1960s at St. Peter's Hospital. From 1971 to 1977, she worked for the North American Baptist Mission Board.
She was a member of the Mission Covenant Church of Bremerton from 1950 to 1964 and was a member of Westside Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Olympia from 1967 to 1999.
She has lived in the Georgian Home in Tacoma for the past two years.
She is survived by two brothers, John of Bremerton and Jeff of Kent; and one sister, Judith D. Lind of Olympia.
She was a member of the American Philatelic Society, specializing in the collection of African postage stamps.
A memorial service was conducted April 9, and a graveside service was April 12.

Robert Norrie
Longtime Bainbridge Island resident Robert L. "Rob" Norrie, 55, died April 23, 1999, of complications of cancer in Olympia.
He was born Jan. 15, 1944, in Seattle to Robert and Geniel Norrie. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and the University of Washington, where he was a member of the varsity crew and Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Mr. Norrie had a career in property management and real estate development in Seattle and on Bainbridge Island.
Survivors include a son, Scott, and a daughter, Katy, both of Bainbridge Island; and one sister, Christine Philbrick of Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Friends of the family are invited to an outdoor memorial gathering at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of Jo Ann Norrie in Seabold on Bainbridge Island.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Lissa Krouse
Former Kitsap County resident Lissa L. Krouse, 29, of Ballston Spa, N.Y., died April 23, 1999, at the Albany Medical Center Hospital of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born Feb. 23, 1970, in Bremerton to Linda (Karst) Ward and Mike Krouse. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1988.
She was awarded a three-year painter apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, graduating with her journeyman papers in 1992.
Ms. Krouse had lived in the Ballston Spa area for the past three years. She worked as a stock manager at Marshall's in Clifton, N.Y., then later as a store manager in Claire's Boutique in Saratoga, N.Y.
She is survived by a son, David Charles Neet of Round Lake, N.Y.; her mother and stepfather, Linda and Bill Ward of Port Orchard; her father and stepmother, Mike and Betty Krouse of Bremerton; three brothers, Darrell, Aaron and Brandon Krouse, all of Bremerton; her grandparents, Jim and Wanda Karst of Hansville; a stepsister and stepbrother, Tanya Spencer and Richard Spencer, both of the Bremerton area; and her fiance, Gregory Eric Neet of Round Lake, N.Y.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Manette Community Church, 13th Street and Hayward Avenue, East Bremerton. There will be a small reception in the downstairs community room after the service.

Benjamin Duke
Benjamin H. Duke, 81, of Bremerton died April 28, 1999, of long-term effects of a stroke and congestive heart failure at Forest Ridge Convales-cent Center.
He was born and raised Aug. 6, 1917, in Pueblo, Colo., to Ester (McFee) and Benjamin H. Duke.
He served in the Army from 1936 to 1938. He retired from the Bremerton City Water Department in 1972 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Eagles and several Bremerton tavern bowling leagues.
Survivors include a son, Larry of Bremerton; three daughters, Jackie Thomas of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Linda Woody of Snohomish and Tina Peerson of Kansas City, Kan.; three brothers, Garnett of Pueblo, Colo., Ernest of Florence, Colo., and Dahl Johnson of Lee's Summit, Mo.; two sisters, Eileen Swartz and Hope Schlegal, both of Pueblo, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, in 1981.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 239, 190 S Dora, Bremerton.

Marc Sullivan
Marc L. Sullivan, 32, of Everett died April 26, 1999.
He was born July 1, 1966, in Seattle.
He is survived by his wife, Teri, and daughter, Amanda, both of Everett; his mother and stepfather, Bonnie Sullivan-Foote and Frank of Clinton; a sister, Cheryl DiNovi of Seattle; and three brothers, Tim and Jim, both of Seattle, and Daniel of Allyn.
He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Sullivan Jr., and his brother, Randy.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Beck's Funeral Home, 405 Fifth Ave. S, Edmonds. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Mark Catholic Church, 18033 15th Place NE, Shoreline. Interment
will be at Edmonds Memorial cemetery.
