Lawson Scott
Lawson Scott, 97, of Bremerton died of natural causes April 6, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Jan. 3, 1902, in Maryville, Mo., to William Lawson and Mary (Kissinger) Scott. He was raised in Maryville.
On March 3, 1931, he married
V. Elaine Bolin in Savannah, Mo.
Mr. Scott worked as a chipper and caulker at Puget sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a lifetime member of the Kitsap Dahlia Society.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Catherine Johnson of Port Orchard, Alice Hersh of Maryville and Joyce Gossard and Patricia Prichard, both of Bremerton; eight grandchildren, Susan Goff of Illinois, Vicki Hersh of Phoenix, Scott Hersh of Kansas City, Mo., Kristin Gossard of Bremerton, Heather Wilson of Clarkston, R.J. Gossard of Florida, Kevin Prichard of California and Brooke Dillon of Bremerton; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Manette Community Church.

Clare McCallum
Clare "Mac" L. McCallum, 85, of Kingston died April 8, 1999.
He was born Nov. 15, 1913, in Lacey to John and Lennie (Hale) McCallum. He was raised in Rosedale. He graduated from Washington State University in 1940.
On Feb. 1, 1975, he married
Dora "Gerri" Williams in Overton, Nev.
Mr. McCallum worked as a mining engineer in Montana, Wyoming and many other states. He was also an industrial engineer, being the first to make titanium golf clubs. He worked for Titanium Metal Corp. for 25 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of Black Mountain Golf and Country Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael of Edmonds and Kenneth of Taos, N.M.; a stepson, Terry Sawyer of Lancaster, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Schomer and Linda Parker, both of Kingston; three grandchildren, Kevin McCallum of Petaluma, Calif., Colleen McCallum of San Francisco and Christopher McCallum of Taos; eight stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.
A private inurnment will be conducted at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Donald Long
Longtime Poulsbo resident Donald Allen Long, 77, died March 12, 1999.
He was born Jan. 25, 1922, in Bandon, Ore.
Mr. Long was a member of the Coast Guard during World War II. He later worked in civil service as a firefighter.
Following his retirement, he was very active in service organizations for senior citizens, such as Meals on Wheels and the Good Sam Pie Club. He also was a piano tuner in the Poulsbo-Bremerton area.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Lois; a son, Michael, of Salem, Ore.; two daughters, Dianne DeLapp of Gig Harbor and Judy of Redmond; two stepsons, Mark Holcomb of Jamul, Calif., and Michael Holcomb of Fresno, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Linda Birge of Morango Valley, Calif.; four grandchildren, Michael DeLapp and Allison Flanigan, both of Gig Harbor, and Rien and Devan Long, both of Anacortes; four stepgrandchildren, Zachery and Luke Birge and Keri and Megan Holcomb; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were conducted in Yuma, Ariz. Local services will be at 11 a.m. April 17 at the Senior Center on Front Street in Poulsbo.
Memorials may be made to the Good Sam Club or to Dogs For the Deaf.
Mary Tidwell
Mary Nell Tidwell, 60, of Bremerton died April 2, 1999, at Naval Hospital Bremerton.
She was born July 26, 1938, in Bernice, La., to Lavelle and Rosa (Wilson) Tidwell. She was raised and educated in Bernice.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Thomas of Springfield, Mass., and Wendell Mitchell of Palmdale, Calif.; three daughters, Donna of Lancaster, Calif., Rochelle Baston of Bremerton and Ramona Carger of Pacoima, Calif.; a brother, Johnny of Las Vegas; three sisters, Ethel Hicks of Bernice, Rose Sanders of Los Angeles and Beth of Bernice; and four grandchildren.
Services are pending in Pacoima.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Tessie Edelblute
Former longtime Poulsbo resident Tessie Ellen Belle Edelblute, 92, died March 30, 1999, in Sacramento, Calif.
She was born Sept. 29, 1906, in Kettle Falls, Wash., to Storey and Elizabeth Luckett.
Mrs. Edelblute began her teaching career at the age of 17 in Idaho. She retired from the North Kitsap School District in 1971.
She was a Sunday school teacher at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Edelblute; a son, Barry; three grandchildren, Melissa Adlhoch, Melinda Edelblute and Marcelle Cox; and six great-grandchildren.
A private family burial will be April 16 at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. April 17 at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo.
Memorials may be made to the Sunday school department of Christ Memorial Church.
Elvera Melton
Former Kitsap County resident Elvera Victoria Melton, 75, died April 3, 1999, in Wheeler, Ore.
She was born May 21, 1923, in Vinland to Abe and Clara Larson. She was raised in Vinland, graduating from North Kitsap High School in 1941.
On Feb. 19, 1943, she married
Robert Melton. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Melton worked as head chauffeur for the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. Following high school, she worked for Sears and Roebuck Co. in Bremerton and for I. Magnin as an elevator operator and shoes and sports clothing model. In 1955, she attended beauty school. She went on to open her own shop in Dillon, Mont., which she operated for 10 years.
Survivors include a son, Byron of Manzanita, Ore.; two sisters, Adeline Weller of Federal Way and Irene Hagen of Poulsbo; and two grandchildren, Robert Melton of Ashland, Ore., and Joe Melton of Manzanita.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Charles Episcopal Church in Poulsbo.

Donald Dixon
Donald Dixon, 70, of Bremerton died April 6, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born June 3, 1928, in Bellingham to Melvin and Irene (Knight) Dixon. He was raised and educated in Bellingham, graduating from Bellingham High School. He attended the University of Washington for one year before joining the Navy.
On Feb. 10, 1953, he married
Dorothy M. Bogart in Granville, N.Y.
Mr. Dixon served in the Navy from 1948 to 1969. He later worked as a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Bremerton, retiring in 1994 after 15 years of service.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Donald of Springfield, Mass., Scott of Friday Harbor and Brian of Bremerton; and a daughter, Marcia McCall of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Cherry Grove Crematory, with inurnment at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale.
Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Dolores Aquiningoc
Dolores C. Aquiningoc, 76, of Port Orchard died April 2, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma.
She was born June 20, 1922, in Guam to Vicente and Maria (Santos) Cruz. She was raised in Agat, Guam.
On Nov. 27, 1943, she married
Gregorio Baleto Aquiningoc in Agat.
Mrs. Aquiningoc was a member of the Guam Club of Bremerton and vicinity.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, George of Oahu, Hawaii, and Tony of Bremerton; three daughters, Patsy Reyes of Agat, Rosita Guevara and Rosaline Anderson, both of Port Orchard; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Juan Cruz of Guam; and two sisters, Ana Jesus and Delfina Salas, both of Guam.
Rosary recitation and visitation will be at 8 p.m. Sunday, with additional visitation from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday. A funeral Mass will follow at noon, all at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Immediately following the Mass, a graveside service will be conducted at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Glenn Sambor
Glenn R. Sambor, 46, of Bremerton died of complications from pneumonia April 5, 1999, at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born April 21, 1952, in Philadelphia to Gregore Sambor and Cleora (McCullough) Ploof. He was raised and educated in Kailua, Hawaii, attending high school in Waipahu, Hawaii, and the Maritime Academy in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He retired from civil service in Kaneohe, Hawaii, after 21 years. He most recently worked for Kitsap Sports in Bremerton.
Survivors include his parents; two sons, Trevor and Lukas, both of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; five brothers, Gregore, Carlton, Jonathan, Gary and Kenneth; and three sisters, Karen, Cheryl and Andrea.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at 2214-A Trenton Ave., Bremerton.
Truman Gill
Truman Dale Gill, 75, of Wenatchee died March 28, 1999, at his home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Batesville, Ark., to Thomas and Hazel (Castiel) Gill.
In 1947, he married
Genevieve M. Kosterman in Seattle.
Mr. Gill served in the Navy during World War II. He later became the executive vice president of the Inlandboatsmen Union of the Pacific, retiring in 1979.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Alan of Bainbridge Island and Ronald of Snohomish; a daughter, Karen Paulson of Poulsbo; a brother; four sisters; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and a brother.
At his request, no services will be conducted.
