SHIRLEY HORNBECK
Shirley Margaret Hornbeck peacefully left this world to be with Jesus Christ from her home on Aug. 23, 2004. Shirley was married, started a family, and joined the work force. Eventually she moved to Marysville, and after retiring, she became well known in the Northwest for her beautiful pastel and watercolor paintings. Shirley was involved in several artist guilds and spent her time painting, volunteering for the city of Marysville, gardening, going to church, encouraging friends, and loving her family.
Shirley will be missed by her four children: Michael Jowders, Vicki Carver, Kevin Hornbeck, Kimber Hanson, as well as her 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends. Join the family for a celebration of her life Thurs., Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. at Marysville First Assembly on the corner of 47th and Grove St. in Marysville. Please wear your most colorful clothes, and bring memories to share. For more information, phone 360-659-6332. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be made in Shirley’s name to Master Commission, which is a discipleship school committed to raising up the next generation of missionaries, pastors and leaders.
ROBERT M. PETERSON
Robert M. Peterson was married Dorothy Saunders. He continued working in the Seattle area in the electronics field until his retirement from Avtech in 1999. After retirement, he continued to be part of World Ministries International in Stanwood until his died suddenly Aug. 23, 2004. He was death, he was an Island County District Court Judge in Oak Harbor. Tom born baby of Camano Island; two brothers, Admiral John Thomas Coughlin, ret., and wife Mary of Seattle, and Joseph William Coughlin, of Seattle; numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in born June 23, 1942, in Vancouver, B.C. died Sun., Aug. 15, 2004. He is survived by his mother Maxine Eiler; brothers, Donald and Ken; and a sister, Theresa. Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood.
ROBERTA E. WILLIAMS
Roberta Ellen Williams was went to be with the Lord Aug. 11, 2004, while a resident at Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood. She grew up in Kansas and Montana and spent her high school years in the now famous Gaches Mansion in LaConner. Bobbie was valedictorian of her high school class. In 1935, she met Luther at a dance (but he wasn't her date!), and they death by her loving husband, Luther; brother, Roy Marler; and son-in-law, Gordon Erickson. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Josephine for their loving care of our "Grandma Pa" and suggest that memorials be made to the Josephine Sunset Home Activities Fund.

passed away Tues., Aug. 17, 2004 at Warm Beach Senior Community in Stanwood. Harriette was a devoted mother, in a special way to each of her three sons. death by her husband Donald. In her last years, Harriette mentioned how grateful she was for her friends at TOPS on Camano Island, and at Merrill Gardens in Stanwood. A memorial service was held at Gilbertson Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Sat., Aug., 21. Private died Sat., Aug. 14, 2004. She had been a resident at Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood. She was married Jan. 20, 1944. They had been died Dec. 6, 1999. She was also preceded in Cemetery, Stanwood. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood.

Betty Suzanne "Susan" Fox death by her husband of 30 years, Douglas D. Fox, founder of Doug Fox Travel. After meeting Doug in April of 1950, they were death by Doug's son, Garfield Fox of Redmond, from which she had two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. A private family memorial and celebration of her life will be held Sept. 4, at her daughter's home on Camano Island. JANE N. CLINGAN
On Aug. 11, 2004, Jane Nanette Clingan peacefully left her family and departed to her heavenly home. Jane was married Robert (Bob) Clingan in 1991. Bob and Jane moved to Camano Island in 1994. They have two children. Besides being mom to their two young boys, Jane gave 24-hour nursing care to her husband, who had received a double-lung transplant at the University of Washington in August 2003. She never complained but did all she could for Bob including endless emergency trips at all hours of the day, transporting her husband to the hospital for treatment. In between, she remained a loving and caring mother to their children. She was an example of courage and commitment and has touched many lives. Her stillborn son, Charley, and her mother, Geraldine Olson, preceded Jane in passed away at home on Camano Island Aug. 14, 2004 at 9:20 a.m. Fred was death by his wife Maggie, who passed away on Aug. 6, 2004 at Birch Bend Adult Family Home in Lynden, WA. Ethel was death by her husband Chandler, daughter Betty, two brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy and husband Bud Ayers of Stanwood, Wilva and husband Jack Foster of Lynden; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial will be held on Sat., Aug. 21, at 11 a.m. at Freeborn Lutheran Church. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood, WA.
HOWARD (GENE) FORD
Howard Eugene (Gene) Ford, 78, resident of Camano Island, born on March 2, 1926, in Urbana, IL, to Earl and Naomi Ford. Gene was one of seven children and spent most of his years as a child growing up in Chico, CA. Gene entered the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17, and served for three years in the South Pacific.
He death by his son, Barry Alan Ford, who died in 1984, his older brother Frances, his father Earl Ford, and his mother Naomi Meyer. Gene is survived by his wife, Betty, of 57 years; his daughter, Debbie Love and future son-in-law Dr. Manuel Gomes of Everett; grandchildren Robert Ford, Theresa Ford, Greg Love, David Love, and Joey Love. He also leaves behind his brothers Bill Ford and wife Margie, Donald Ford and wife Pat, and their families; and his sisters Velma Silveria and husband Duke, Joann Jenkins and husband Dick and their families, all residing in northern California; and Dorothy and her family who reside in Oregon. Services to celebrate Gene Ford’s life will be held 2 p.m., Fri., Aug. 20, in the chapel of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
