ROSE A. FLOE
Rose A. Floe of Stanwood, born Aug. 11, 1918 in Silvana, Washington, to Rasmus and Anna Danielson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Little White Church on the Hill and graduated from Arlington High School in 1937.
Rose was united in marriage to Wilbur Floe, Sept. 28, 1937. Together they devoted much time to the family-owned business, Floe Transfer, in which Rose was the bookkeeper. Later years were spent continuing her education at the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated with honors receiving her LPN license in 1967. She continued her nursing practice until her retirement.
Rose was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. She has been a resident of Josephine Sunset Home for the last seven years. She was known for her love of music, dancing and kind, caring soul. She was honored as resident of the month in February 1999. Rose is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Richard and Jayne Floe of Stanwood; grandchildren Anna Houk, Mary Jane Hendry, Steven, Andrew, William and David Floe; niece, Pamela Fugier and her children Alyssa and Matt of Stan-wood; sister Violet Madsen of Stanwood and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Josephine Sunset Home, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. LEROY ‘BUD’ FORD KIRKENDALL
Bud born April 12, 1923 in Axtel, KS. Leaving Kansas in the Depression, his family settled in Stanwood, WA. Bud graduated from Stanwood High School where he was senior class president. Joining the Mer-chant Marines, he served the majority of WWII in the South Pacific theater. As WWII was ending, he met a pretty Norwegian girl on a ship traveling from Sweden to New York. Bud and Elizabeth Ruud were death by his son Robert and his beloved wife, Liz. He is survived by his daughter JoAnn Loges, her husband Clay; grandchildren Sonja, Carsten and Rémy; stepson, Bjorn Andersen of Denmark, his wife Jette and their son Kristian; sisters Mary Rygmyr of Palm Desert, and Marge Ronnestad of Stanwood. The family wishes to thank his longtime physician Dr. Marc Cor-dova for his kindness and understanding in treating the elderly; Rosemary Frerk RN for 14 years of kindness, patience, and skilled management of the care for both Bud and Liz. Deepest gratitude is extended to Star Garma and the JamesStar Adult Family Home for their love and care in his final year. At his request no services will be held. GLEN JOHN HOEYE
Glen John Hoeye, 86, of Stan-wood, WA, passed away peacefully at home on July 28, 2004, and is now in the pres-ence of Jesus. She was married Frederick Lips of Columbus, NE. She lived for short times in Boston, MA and Key West, FL where her husband was stationed after World War II They made their home in Visalia, where they raised their family.
After retirement, Fred and Grace traveled extensively around the United States and Canada, meeting friends and family and making new friends. Among her favorite hobbies were quilting and gardening, but the Lord Jesus was always first in her life and then her family. She moved to Stanwood on her birthday in 2000 to live with her daughter. It didn't take Grace long to make friends in her new town and to become a favorite with all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Proverbs 31:28 sums up how we all feel about her: "Her children rise up and call her blessed."
She is preceded in died, one week later, at the hospital from heart complications. He was married March 16, 1945 and shared 59 years together. Walt went to work for the Great Northern Railroad (now Burlington Northern Santa Fe). He loved "rail-roading" and had a great 42 years on the job. Most of those years he worked as a switch foreman in the operating department. He had many hobbies over the years, but his favorite has been rais-ing dahlias. He belonged to two clubs, Snohomish and Skagit, and was actively involved in showing and recently judging dahlias. Walt's other hobbies included golfing, pigeon racing, fly-tying, gardening, photography, picture framing, fishing and crabbing.
Walter is survived by his be-loved wife Ruth; daughter, Carol Roberts and husband Michael; sons Ed and wife Claire, Rob and wife Joan; grandsons, Joe and Gary Huehnerhoff and Adam, Isaiah, and Jordan Roberts; sister Loretta Clawson and husband John of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Billie Honey and husband Bob; and 12 nieces and nephews. While living in Juanita (Finn Hill) Walt and his family attended Epiphany Lutheran Church (1964-1986). After moving to the Hough-ton area of Kirkland he and Ruth at-tend and were active at Cross of Christ in Bellevue, where his daughter and family, and son Ed and wife are current members (1987-1997).
Walt was currently attending Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Stanwood since moving from Kirkland to Camano Island (l997 -2004). A service will be held at Our Saviour's, Aug. 4, 11 a.m., with a light lunch served afterwards. Memorials may be given to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church or a charity of choice in the name of Walter G. Huehnerhoff.
CHARLEY R. MILLER
Charley R. Miller, 67, left this life on July 25, 2004, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Verna; sons Raymond (Sue) and Ja-son (Amy) Miller, daughters Charlene (Tim) Dulhanty, Angela (Steve) Isotalo, Tamara (Jeff) Stenman; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandkids. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.

GERALDINE N.
MAGELSSEN
Geraldine Nicklason Magelssen was married Johan Magelssen May 22, 1933 at Camano Lutheran Church, and they were death in 2001. They began building their house on Camano Island the year they were born in 1934.
Geraldine and Johan hosted countless gatherings for family and friends over the years at "the farm, " and Geraldine was well known for her hospitality, as well as her skill in the kitchen. Geraldine took an active part in Camano Lutheran Church, where she was a member for 71 years. She served on the Tuberculosis Executive Board for 25 years. She was also a member of the election board, the American Cancer Society, Homemakers Association, and was even an airplane spotter during WWII.
She is survived by her son, Gerald, and his wife Judy of Edmonds; four granddaughters and their spouses: Diane and Larry Densmore of Port Orchard, Karen and Jeff Camp of Camano Island, Susan and Mike Kinnear of Tacoma, and Jennifer Laine of Preston; and seven great-grandchildren: Harrison Densmore, Spencer, Carissa and Tyler Camp, and Erika, Jonathan and Makayla Laine. Geraldine entered the Kingdom of Heaven and joined Johan Sat., June 26, 2004.
Funeral services will be at Camano Lutheran Church, 11 a.m., Sat., July 10, 2004. Contributions in Geraldine’s memory may be made to Camano Lutheran Church or The American Cancer Society. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood.
BETTY A. PETERSEN
1925 - 2004
Betty Petersen, 78, a recent resident of Gig Harbor, WA, formerly of Camano Island, peacefully born Sept. 12, 1915 on Cedarhome Rd. in Stanwood. Oscar died May 3, 2004 in Oxnard, CA after an extended illness. She was married in 1939 in Seattle, and enjoyed nearly 65 years together, living first in Bert’s hometown of Monroe and then in Seattle where Katy and Bert raised two children, Lynn, now of Port Huemene, CA and Douglas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Katy has three grandchildren, Chad and Tara Emerson, of Manhattan Beach, CA, and Jeff Armstrong of Seattle. The Armstrongs moved to Sunrise Point on Camano Island where Bert built a log house and Katy was active in Friends of Stanwood Library (formerly the Library Guild), Northwest Organization for Animal Help (NOAH), and the Stillaguamish Garden Club. All of her Stanwood-Camano friends and acquaintances are invited to join family members in a celebration of Katy’s life at the Armstrong’s Sunrise Point home at the south end of Sunrise Blvd., 295 S. Sunrise Blvd., Thurs., July 15, beginning at 3 p.m.
VIOLET A. KENNEDY
Violet Ann Brooks (nee) Kennedy born July 5, 1918 in Seattle, to David and Isabella. Raised on Camano Island, she graduated from Stanwood High School in 1936. In 1937 she Cemetery, Camano Island. MARIE E. IPSEN
Marie Elvera Ipsen born Feb. 24, 1911, in Conway to John and Gerena Sande. She lived in the Conway and Stanwood areas for 43 years. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Stanwood Marie was a member of Freeborn Lutheran Church and Freeborn Ladies Aid. Marie is survived by two sons, David Ipsen (Joan) of Des Moines, WA, and Richard Ipsen, Stanwood; a brother, Gorden Sande, Stanwood; two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Cricket, Shay, Crystal, Dorie, Juanita, and Sharon for their loving care. Funeral services are Tues., Oct. 26, 1 p.m., at Freeborn Lutheran Church, Stanwood. Cemetery, Conway. WALTER G. CASJENS
Walter "Bert" Casjens quietly born in Haiti, SD 84 years ago, Feb. 12, 1920. He was the youngest of four boys and six girls. Parents were Ira and Hattie Casjens. He still has two older sisters, Zee, 94 years old, and Ruby, 86 years old. Both live in Long Beach, CA.
Bert lived in Long Beach for over 29 years and met his wife, Betty Jean Newell. They were passed away with his family by his side Oct. 6, 2004. Mr. Roberts was married in 1974. He enjoyed fishing and fish tales with his many fishing buddies, and also traveling and camping with friends.
Mr. Roberts is survived by wife, Syliva of Trillum Lodge in Parksville; daughter, Karen Tinker of Burlington; sons, Ed of Camano Island, John of Roslyn and Bill of Smokey Point; one half sister, Lu Edith and Frank Jenkins of AZ; two stepdaughters and their families, Sharon and Ricky Mathias and Heather VanAppleton, all of B.C.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; one brother; one son, D. LaMont Roberts; and one granddaughter, Beth E. Araus.
At his request, there will be no services, and he was cremated at First Memorial Funeral Home in Nanaimo, B.C., his ashes to be scattered in the bay.
