ROSE BABCOCK
Rose Babcock, daughter of Edward and Julia Zednik, was passed away Dec. 4, 2004.
At age 18, Rose began teaching elementary school near Harbine, Nebraska, where she taught for two years. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching and playing softball with the children and was an excellent teacher. She continued to be a favorite with children throughout her life, drawing pictures, telling them stories, etc.
At a barn dance, she met Stanley Babcock, whom she born into their home, Eddie, Loretta, and Betty. Rose's life in those days was also filled with such things as giving chalk talks, readings, and skits at parties and various local organizations such as the Farmers Union.
She had an adventuresome spirit and passionately loved traveling. She could be ready to go on very short notice. The big trip that Rose and Stanley took one year was to Washington State. Rose made photo album/narrative scrapbooks about each trip.
In 1963 the Babcocks sold their farm at auction and moved to Washington State, locating the following year on Camano Island. There they enjoyed five happy years together, until Stanley passed away Dec. 22, 2004, in Lynnwood, WA. She was death this last October by her husband of 60 years, Robert.
She leaves behind her loving son, Robert L. Fraser and daughter-in-law Peggy; granddaughter, Lisa Fraser; and her stepdaughter, Jennifer Rex. A born at John and Berthena Erickson's farm near Finley, ND Oct. 11, 1915, where she grew up the third child of six. Mildred married for 63 years. Ed passed away Dec. 23, 2004, at the age of 84 from complications of Parkinson's disease.
born in Seattle and lived there most of his life, then moved to Camano Island and then to the Stanwood Senior Apartments when he retired.
He is survived by his brothers, Donald (Wanda) Soderberg, and Robert (Kay) Soderberg; three nephews, Richard, Larry and Peter Soderberg; five grandnieces, four grandnephews, three great-grandnieces and one great-grandnephew; his aunt, Gladys Johnston, who just turned 100 years old; and his cousin, Gordon Johnston; and many friends.
He was preceded in born named Danika; those who knew her best called her Danni.
She lived an idyllic life in Stanwood with her parents, Kerry and Katie Cooley, and two beautiful sisters, Bailee and Breanna (Breezie). She loved all family activities and was a great help to her parents, gladly chauffeuring her sisters to various functions. Family was a priority for Danni whether it was traveling or just sitting at home watching a movie with those she loved.
She loved the outdoors and spent her time riding her horses, playing with her dogs, soccer (especially coaching sister Breezie’s team), enjoying a Silvertips game with her sister Bailee, camping and skiing/snowboarding with her family. She was equally happy curled up with a book and any activity which involved her many friends, the Jessicas, David, Jake, Josh and Brielle to name a few.
Danni excelled at Stanwood High School where she was a junior. She lettered in swimming all three years of participation and was active in her church youth group at Lakeside Community Fellowship in Lake Stevens. Danni loved Jesus and thoroughly enjoyed her annual trip to Creationfest.
Danni loved to travel and had visited Europe (where she kissed the Blarney Stone), Hawaii, Canada (Whistler at least annually) and several states. She loved the summertime treks to Lake Chelan with her family.
Danni is dancing with the angels in heaven where she was greeted by her Grandpa Ron (Cooley). Some day she will be joined by grandparents, Daryle and Betty Hylton of Everett and Ramona Cooley of Stanwood; uncles and aunts, Keith and Kim Hylton, Kyle and Christy Cooley, Randy Hylton, Gregg and Renee Cooley, Les and Robin Cooley and Mike and Terry (Cooley) Walker.
Friends and family may visit Danni at Purdy and Walters with Cassidy (Pacific at Wetmore, Everett) Wed., Dec. 15, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The celebration of her precious life will be Fri., Dec. 17, 1 p.m., at Lakeside Community Fellowship, 14619 28th St. NE, Lake Stevens.
Memorial donations may be made in Danika’s name to Children’s Hospital Regional Medical Center, P.O. Box 5371/6F-3, Seattle, WA 98105-0371. Many thanks to all those who provided wonderful care to Danni during her stay. Danni was a blessing to her parents, and they are grateful for the time God loaned her to them. She was a kind and loving daughter and sister. Danni was a blessing to all who knew her and is remembered lovingly.
EARL IPSEN
Earl Ipsen, 84, of Arlington, formerly of Stanwood, died. Earl was a devoted husband of Eleanor for over 58 years, and was at her bedside when she born May 7, 1920 in Conway to Carl and Jenny Ipsen. He graduated from Lincoln High School of East Stanwood in 1939, eventually taking over the milk route acquired by his father in 1918. They picked up large milk cans from farms and delivered them to the Carnation processing plant.
From 1941 to 1945, Earl served in the United States Army, eventually as an aircraft metal worker. He also drove a radio car around Hawaii, which is when he developed his interest in swimming and Hawaiian beaches. On Jan. 12, 1946, Earl Cemetery, with a fellowship luncheon following at 12 noon at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Stanwood. Those who wish may make memorials to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church or to Lutheran World Relief Fund. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood.
