MARVIN V. RISE
Marvin V. Rise, 79, born in Molson, WA May 24, 1923, and raised in Stanwood. He was one of nine children married Helen Gates of Mt. Vernon, his wife of 25 years. Together they raised four children in Stanwood. He retired from the US Postal Service, Stanwood office, after 25 years. He was death by his wife, Elizabeth Rise; son, James Rise; son-in-law, Ed Mason; brothers, Oscar and Ivan; sisters, Len, Irene, Rena, Gladys and Evelyn. The family gives special thanks to Hospice of Snohomish County, Martha, Diane, Leanne, Lisa, Teresa and Bonnie; Sunrise Services, Pat C, Barbara; Amazing Grace AFH, Lettie, Steve, Betty and Jean, for their special and loving ways in taking care of Marvin. An extra special thanks to cousins Audrey, Doug, Karen and Palmer.
Dad, you will be missed by us all, but you are finally at rest, at peace, and free of pain. A gathering of family and friends will be Thurs., Dec. 12, at Stanwood Eagles, 4 to 6 p.m.
JOSEPH A. SCHULTZ
Joseph Andrew Schultz, 23, of Mount Vernon, born April 13, 1979, in Seattle. He grew up in Stanwood, was home schooled and was presently attending Skagit Valley College. He had worked for the past four years for Rkadia Fine Wood Furniture Inc., in Arlington. Joseph enjoyed music. He played the violin. He was an expert skydiver, and an accomplished snowboarder. He will be best remembered for his keen since of humor, his kind and gentle spirit, and he was a friend to many.
Joseph is survived by his parents, Donald and Mary Schultz, of Stanwood; sister and best friend, Manja Schultz of Arlington; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his grandmother, Ella Larson of Stanwood.
Private family graveside services will be held in the Anderson passed away Nov. 29, 2002 in Edmonds, with his wife, Irene, and two children, Jerry and Joanie, at his side.
Harold was passed away on his 61st wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; children, Jerry Stevenson of Edmonds, Joanie (Richard) Dwyer of Snohomish; two grandsons, Jarrett Stevenson of San Diego, CA, Darrin Dwyer of Newcastle, Australia; his sister, Evelyn Bjorling of Stanwood; and his brother, DeVere Stevenson of Mesa, AZ. Harold was a kind and caring man and was known for his wonderful sense of humor. He was loved and was a friend to all who met him. God blessed us with Harold's life, and we feel an enormous loss with his Funeral service was Fri., Dec. 6, at Beck's Funeral Home in Edmonds. Cemetery, Stanwood. GLORIA V. WIFLER
God called Gloria V. Wifler home Mon., Dec. 2, 2002.
She was married to Dale E. Wifler in 1982, at Summit Park Bible Church in Anacortes. Gloria was a devoted mother to Kristan and Chrystal Wifler.
She was sponsored by Team Missions in Korea and taught servicemen’s children while her husband was stationed there. Music and church were a big part of her life. She was baptized, later taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir at Summit Park Bible Church. Gloria and her sunny smile and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in passed away at home Dec. 6, 2002, surrounded by her loving family.
married in Sacramento in 1944. Following the war, Esther and Harry settled in Everett, where they lived the remainder of their lives.
Esther enjoyed baking and gardening at home, and camping at Lake Alta with family for many years. A long-time member of Central Lutheran Church in Everett, Esther was a devout Christian, and thrived on providing comfort, care, and love to her family, friends, and everyone she met. Her lighthearted attitude toward life made Esther a joy to be around. Esther is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Evonne and Dennis Haskins (Everett); son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Janet Worrell (Anchorage). Her family also includes five grandchildren: Michael R. Haskins (Olympia), Christine Worrell (Anchorage), Jeffrey Haskins and wife Zoe (Everett), Timothy Haskins (Mukilteo), and Jessie Worrell (Anchorage). Esther also had two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Olivia. She is also survived by her loving sisters and brother-in-law, Bernice Westberg (Sumner) and Anna and Carl Haatveit (Everett).
Esther was preceded in Cemetery in Stanwood.
Memorials may be made in loving memory to Central Lutheran Church, or to Hospice of Snohomish County.
LAURETTA FITCH
Lauretta Jean "Jeanne" Fitch, 71, born Aug. 8, 1931, in Astoria, OR. She moved with her family to Everett and attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Everett High School. Jeanne had lived most her life in Everett, until moving to Stanwood five years ago.
She lived her life as a wonderful and dear wife, mother, daughter and sister. Jeanne was an especially creative person, involved in many different outlets of artistic mastery, not to mention her talents in the kitchen. She loved gatherings of family and friends served up with generous offerings of food, fun and love. Jeanne's exuberance for life will be missed by all.
She leaves behind her dear and beloved husband of 49 years, Don; loving daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Howard Wilson of Stanwood, Shelley and Sam Brotherton of Everett; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Vince Macoleni of Everett; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and June Fitch of Camano Island; sister-in-law Marna Fitch of Stanwood; and her adored grandchildren, Shelby and Sam Wilson and Kyle Brotherton; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in passed away Nov. 17, 2002, in Arlington, with her children by her side.
She was married to Jack Anderson Oct. 6, 1938, and they had three children. She was a lifelong member of the Freeborn Lutheran Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to many.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Hopper; son, Jerry (Bonnie) Anderson; grandchildren, Leanne Bromels, Jim Anderson, Julie Jefferson, Bill Fale, Jerad, Daren and Kerstin Anderson; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alice Adolfson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in Cemetery.
BYRON D. BOLYARD
Byron Dale Bolyard, 46, of Arlington, born Nov. 2, 1956, in Monroe. Dale had worked for Welco Lumber in Arlington for 20 years and had worked at Northstar Cold Storage in Stanwood for a couple of years. He enjoyed fishing, skydiving and golf. He leaves his father Kennith of Everett; mother, Jacquline of Montana; daughter, Kari Burkett, sons, Ken, Jr., Bob and Charles E.; sisters, Judy, Sue, Louise and Midge; grandchildren, Madison and Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
'A memorial service will be held Sat., Nov. 30 at 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, 795 Ell Rd., Camano Island. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood.
EDITH L. CLAUSEN
Edith L. Clausen, 95, of Ferndale, WA born July 18, 1907, in Saskatchewan, Canada, in the town of Bradswell. Pre-high school years were spent on a Montana ranch west of Great Falls. She attended high school in Great Falls. After graduation, she entered The Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, she moved to Seattle, where she spent the next 30 years of her life.
In 1930, Edith met and passed away. Edith raised the boys on her own for the next nine years. Edith and her sons continued to live in Seattle's Ballard District during this time.
In 1959 Edith passed away in 1985, after which time, she moved to Stanwood to be closer to family.
Edith remained in Stanwood until 1999, when she moved to Ferndale to live with her granddaughter, Julie Snowden and family. She remained there with Julie and her husband Chuck and her two great-grandsons, Danial and Keith, until her passed away Nov. 19, 2002, at his home on Camano Island, after a long respiratory illness.
He was married Lois Jacqueline (Jackie) Helm. After the war, Eldon completed college and worked as an electrician and an electrical engineer at Boeing in Wichita, KS. During his 35 years working for Boeing, Eldon worked in many locations throughout the country. In 1968 he transferred to Seattle.
He and Jackie had four children. He loved his family and enjoyed the times they spent together camping, fishing and boating, In 1980 he death by his first wife, Jackie; his two brothers, William and John; and his parents. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Dec. 5, at Camano Chapel, 867 S. West Camano Dr., Camano Island. Inurnment will be a private ceremony for the family.
