She also worked through the years in packing houses, at the Holiday Inn as a housekeeper, and in farms and ranches in Washington and California. With Tommie it was all about people. She was the most loving and caring person. If Tommie knew someone needed anything, she always showed up with something good to eat or a helping hand.
In Tommie's last few years she lived at the Mabel Swan Apartments in Yakima. Right before she left Mabel Swan to go live at the Sun Towers Apartments she put a big pot of stew on her walker and went around to the different rooms and gave the apartments fresh hot stew.
Tommie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved her entire family very much; the ones who lived near her and those who lived far away. Her life revolved around her family and friends.
Tommie was always game to go and do anything anyone wanted to do. She loved having people over and she loved to go visiting. She loved life and was always jolly, happy, and bubbly. Because of her positive outlook on life, Tommie had a smile and a kiss for all.
Tommie loved God and His son. She always prayed for the people she loved. She always talked about her love for the Lord and His love for her.
