Dorothy Izzett
Dorothy Izzett, 82, of Yakima, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Yakima.
Dorothy was born in Toledo, OR. She was raised in Oregon and later moved to California. She came to Yakima in 2004. She was a mom and homemaker.
Survivors include her children, Mary Durham, Pam Olson and Alison Morales, all of Yakima, Karen Skultety and Bob Izzett of Santa Rosa, CA and Janet Lambert of San Diego, CA; 121 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Marjorie Olive Battan
Marjorie Olive Battan, 86, of Yakima died Friday, April 4, 2008 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.
Mrs. Battan was born in Greensburg, Ind. She lived in Walla Walla, Wenatchee, Yakima and Ellensburg. She worked for Rainier Bank in the new accounts department.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan Hamilton of Edmonds, Wash., and Linda Anderson of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory in Yakima is in charge of arrangements.
Jean Myers
SUNNYSIDE - Jean Myers, 77, of Sunnyside passed away on April 3, 2008 surrounded by her family at home.
Jean was born on April 9, 1930, the daughter of Dennis and Isma Wininger of Grandview. Jean was born, raised and attended school in Grandview.
Jean married her high school sweetheart, James Albert Myers on July 3, 1947 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She enjoyed being a home maker for her family. A few of her favorite things were cooking, camping and traveling. She also had a passion for crossword puzzles, reading and gardening.
Jean will be missed by her husband Jim Myers, 9 children, 25 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many more to come. Their children are Betty (Rick) Shade of Tonasket, Patricia Mott of Olympia, Dennis (Peggy) Myers of Prosser, Marion (Jack) Khilling of Woodinville, Peggy (Alvin) Driesen of Naches, Ellen (Mark) Jensen of Sumner, Robert (Mara) Myers of Poulsbo, Beverly (Doug) Knudsvig of Napavine and Carol (Del) Sloan of Chelan. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Powell of Grandview and Margaret Vyne of San Luis Obispo, CA as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Proverbs 31:28-29 Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers; Walt, Bernard and Leo Wininger; and her sister Betty Nelson.
To all who knew and loved Jean she was a vibrant and lively little lady. She took great pride in her home, her family and her ability to be a good friend to all she met. Some of her favorite times were when we were all together having our annual "Myers/Powell" campouts each summer or any other family gathering where we were all together.
Jean was so very blessed to have her loving husband as her primary care giver for the past 5 years. It was not always easy, but with the support of all the family she was able to remain at home surrounded by love. She will be missed.

A Rosary will be held Sunday, April 6, 2008 in the Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside at 2:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. also at Valley Hills Funeral Home.
Darrell D. Lyon
Darrell D. Lyon, 69, of Toppenish, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 in Toppenish.
Darrell was born April 28, 1938 in Toppenish. He worked as an assembly line worker in auto industry and lived in Toppenish for 49 years.
He is survived by a brother, Harvey Lyon of Toppenish.
No services are scheduled.
Hazel Kathryn Urquhart
Hazel Kathryn Urquhart, 84, of Toppenish died April 2, 2008.
Mrs. Urquhart was born in Kingfish County, Okla. She served in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps, during World War II.
Survivors include a sister, Mildred Dewhirst of Zillah.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Valley Hills Funeral Home, Zillah, is in charge of arrangements.
William Lee "Bill" Norman, Sr.
YAKIMA - William Lee "Bill" Norman, Sr., 66, of Yakima passed away April 2, 2008 in Yakima.
Bill was born Sept. 15, 1941 in Yakima to James Bert & Lora Martha (Boynton) Norman. He was a lifetime resident of Yakima and worked as a truck driver.
Bill loved to work on and restore cars and was an avid drag racer. He had a general love for all aspects of autos. He also enjoyed the outdoors and "oldies" music. He took meticulous care of his belongings. The last few years, he became much closer to his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by: his longtime companion, Marilyn Frick; his son, William "Willie" Norman, Jr. of Yakima; three daughters, Terri (Bern) Kent of Wapato, Bonnie Rizo of Yakima and Leeanna Norman of Yakima; five brothers all of Yakima, Norman (Betty), Jim, David (Sharon), Larry and Don; a sister, Amy Garton of Yakima; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 5, at 1:00 p.m. at the Solid Rock Family Worship Center. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in his name.
